3rd version of this grip not working

Earlier I had stated that it appeared that the third one of these that I had was working even though the trays were difficult to inset. After a 100 or so successful frames I started to occasionally get "Err" display. This is usually an indication of a shutter problem. I was planning on calling Nikon but the discovered when I removed the grip my D610 worked as its suppose to. I've given up after 3 not working with 3 different problems. Guess I'll have to bite the bullet and pay the big $ for the Nikon version.

Feels great in Hand

This grip feels great in my hand and the buttons work. Now what I don't like: My D600 doesn't like having two batteries installed at the same time with this grip so I only use one in the grip and have no problems, with Nikon brand batteries. With an off brand the camera shows a dead battery. My fix is to leave the camera on and re-install the battery and the camera works fine. I will also note that I bought this grip almost a year ago and a month ago it failed. I called Adorama asking about any such warranty and they exchanged it. I must say I respect Adorama for that and will continue to shop with them, I consider them to have fabulous customer service.

Good product

I use the Flashpoint grip when photographing grandkids playing sports. More battery life and better grip for the action shots. When I use a monopod the grip protects the rubber pad on the camera from damage installing and removing the momopod and tripod plates. The grip fits the camera and works very well,I would recommend this product to others.

Good enough

I use this mostly for in studio/video work or when i will need the extra juice. I like that i do not need to detach the battery door and that i can use Double A's in an emergency where an outlet/charger is not available. I prefer the feel of the rubber on the battery grip to that of the camera body. if you have a heavy lens, you may notice that it can shift ever so slightly giving you the spongy feel where it's not as rock solid as a camera body that has a built in battery grip (d3, d4, et al.). the aperture/shutter wheels and the shutter release all feel cheap and sound cheap. i am hoping it breaks in with use. I am concerned but have not confirmed yet that it has a battery leak. maybe i need to take care to use the OFF button on the grip so that it stops drawing power. maybe that's in the manual. if there was one included, i did not read it. Overall, you get what you pay for and this is enough to get the job done. especially with the astronomical price of the factory grip.

So far, so good

The Flashpoint Vertical Grip is almost identical to the one sold by Nikon. I initially returned the original one sent because of electrical problems. The current one has the same feel and appearance of the Nikon grip at considerable less expense. When shooting a vertical photo I no longer have to awkwardly reach over the top of the camera to find the shutter release. All the controls are easily accessible. I recommend it (with the caveat that it continues to function flawlessly in the future.}

Nice grip

Nice alternative to Nikon grip. Appears to be solidly built, matches perfectly with D600. Does have some battery drain, but reverses when disconnected, may be due to firmware bug? Overall a good product, and adds needed pro feel to camera.

Works but you can't count on it

Used it for Nikon D600. It helps to balance the weight of Nikkor AF-s 80-200mm F2.8 and makes holding the camera comfortly in hand. Unfortunately I found this grip has compatability problem with D600, it also drain battery unusually fast. I had it attached to camera with one Li-ion battery in D600 and another Li-ion in grip(two batteries got fully charged), it worked normally. I took about 30 testing shots around home and stored it in camera bag. When I took it out from the bag and used it again, I coun't make any shot and the camera LCD panel showed nothing but a low low battery sign in blinking. I removed the grip away from D600, kept battery #1 inside the D600, camera works normally but the battery has about 70% power left. I removed battery #1 and had battery #2 (previousely in the grip) installed, camera worked normally, but only 70% power left also. I did the same process to the grip, the same situation. But... but when I install one battery in grip and one battery in D600, and attach the grip to D600, it wouldn't work, camera LCD panel showed low low battery and I was not able to take any shot. Another issue of the grip is the curve of its right side stands out alittle bit, it made me feel uncomfortable when holding the camera horizentally, it's not a problem when I hold the camera vertically. Hope you understand what I mean. Machnically, the grip is well built, looks and feel good, it doesn't show a cheap look, as a matter of fact, it matches camera nicely and precisely. It priced low enough to catch your eyes, if you need the FEEL, go and get one, but it might be smart to use one battery at a time, to void system comflict. I can afford a Nikon brand grip, but don't think comfortable to pay that much, as dont' think it worths that much. I returned the the grip finally and use my mind to balance my heavy AFS 80-200mm F2.8 Nikkor lens.
