Well built product

I think they might compress the pictures I uploaded here but I can tell you the quality and colors of originals are very good. I did not use any supplemental strobe (just the built-in flash of the Nikon 1 J3). The best pictures are taken when you are close to the subject (within 1m or 3 feet). The best way is to manually calibrate the white balance as long as you go deeper which is easy to do (bring a white slate if there is no white sands around, otherwise anything white at same depth and light environment of the picture subject will do the same). Recalibrate white every 2-3 meters (and maybe more often as you go deeper. White balance "Underwater mode" of Nikon 1 J3 is pretty useless). Take pictures in RAW (NEF) in case you did not calibrate white balance correctly so you can adjust the picture with the software afterward (you cannot do that with photos taken in JPEG). I found that a red filter is not really needed when you correctly adjust white balance. Very good product for the price. I found used kit in mint condition (Nikon 1 J3 and WP-N2 in original boxes) for under $500! Quite satisfied customer!

The Nikon WP-N2 Waterproof Housing for 1 J3 or 1 S1 Digital Camera and 10-30mm VR Lens is a waterproof case enabling you to shoot beneath the water's surface with your Nikon 1 J3 or 1 S1 mirror less digital camera with 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. It has a depth rating of 132' (40 m).

The housing provides access to all key camera functions, including zoom ring, Mode dial, Multi-selector, movie recording, playback, delete and menu, via mechanical and button controls. The light from the camera's built-in pop-up flash is blocked by the housing, but it can still be used to trigger the optional SEA&SEA YS-D1 strobe. The WP-N2 is equipped with two fiber optic cable ports for connecting 1 or 2 of these strobes. A built-in cold shoe mount located on top of the housing permits the attachment of optional accessories, such as lighting arms. The housing's built-in flat glass port is designed specifically to accommodate the 1 NIKKOR VR 10-30mm f/3.5-5.6 lens.

Included with the housing is the WP-AN1000 Wrist Strap, which helps ensure that the WP-N2, with camera inside, doesn't get away from you while you're shooting. The WP-LC1000 Front Cap covers the lens port when the housing is not in use, protecting it against scratches and preventing dust, dirt and debris buildup. The WP-AN2000 Front Cap Strap attaches the Front Cap to the housing to ensure it's not lost when removed. Also supplied is the WP-IR1000 Inner-Reflection Prevention Ring, which keeps unwanted reflections from appearing in your images. The WP-ZG1000 Zoom Gear Sleeve works with the zoom gear to enable you to operate the zoom function on the 10-30mm VR lens.
