I was stoked to try out the wireless feature of their SB 5000 speedlite with my new D850. Although, that was not nearly as simple as I had thought it would be, since I then learned I could not use it until I got their special remote and adapter. What a scam. Even after getting all that (no turning back now) it was far from simple to set up. The instructions were useless, so it took watching several videos on-line before I was able to figure this thing out. Very frustrating. I see now I should have just stuck with a hot-shoe trigger. Even the red LED light on top stopped working within the first hour of trying to set this up. I finally got it to work, but it was a real pain, and now I still have this extra device I have to attach to my camera, which is not as simple to put on as a trigger. Who is the dolt at Nikon that thought this was a good idea, advantage, or would be acceptable to their clients.

This is exactly what I've been looking for. Wanted to take close ups of the Quail that come in to my yard but couldn't because quail are very scidish. Also wanted to be able to take pics of lightning but didn't want to stand out in the weather. This remote works from a distance much further than I expected. I'm using a Nikon D7100.

Would not connect to my i-phone 5. I believe I tried every sequence and WiFi connection setting and physical distance on both the phone, WR-R10, and my D7100. Phone connects to home WiFi network, which I also tried to turning off in case there was interference. No more than a spinning search icon on the phone.

I needed remote control capabilities for my new Nikon D800 camera. This requires the WR-T10 controller, WR-R10 transceiver, plus the WR-A10 adapter – a quite expensive solution. In addition the set-up is very fragile, practically works in a studio. It is not a good solution if you hike and try to take landscape pictures or to shoot a waterfall, as the adapter may easily break and possibly damage the camera connector too. Overall I'm disappointed and would not recommend this product. My old film Nikon had the transceiver incorporated into the camera. They should do the same for a high end $3000 camera like D800.

Works like a charm. Triggers both shutter and focus.
This item is also available as a set with WR-T10/WR-R10/WR-A10, part number 27106
Wireless remote camera control has never been easier. Instead of using conventional infrared transmission, the new WR-R10 and WR-T10 communicate via radio for increased range.
Because radio transmission is used, communication is possible even with no direct line of sight between devices for use up to 66 feet (up to 164ft when using WR-R10 as a transmitter). These wireless remote control accessories also enable various operations such as autofocus, video recording, continuous shooting and quiet shutter-release shooting.
Use the WR-T10 as a transmitter, to trigger a single or multiple cameras with the WR-R10 attached. This permits capture of the same moment from multiple perspectives and with different lenses as a still and/or video.
WR-T10 and WR-R10(s) have to be set to the same channel and paired in advance toachieve simultaneous release.
Note: Depending on the camera, there may be a limitation to the accessories that can be attached simultaneously with the WR-R10 Wireless Remote Controller. Attempting to forcibly attach accessories can damage the camera or accessory.
Communication between WR-R10 units: Only available when master camera employs ten-pin remote terminal
