Love this lens, everything about it. I wanted a super wide angle lens for my landscape and macro photography and this covers it all. Crisp, clear and the colors are perfect photos every time. I was going back and forth with the 14-54mm lens and with much research decided to buy the 11-22mm. Not sorry for one choice in the least. Distortion is very minimal if even noticed at all. Highly recommend this lens, it is so worth the money.

I will simply echo Craig's review. I've owned 4 Olympic bodies since '09. Along with that I've also owned the 14-54 mm first generation and extensively played with the most beautiful 12-60 mm legend!! Oh and I was married to the 50mm. However, the 11-22 still remains in my current 2 lens kit (Along with my 75 mm 1.8!). I don't care about the size on my Omd-em5 doesn't bother me at all. The 11-22 mm is still ridiculously sharp, with this amazing "Cinematic" color rendering with minimum barreling and reasonable focus speed (1.5-2 seconds on the em5 in decent light, a bit faster on sunny days). Types of shooting, I do. Interiors. Architecture. Environmental Portraits. Photojournalistic inspired snapshots. Obviously, landscape rural and urban. Second/creative shooter at weddings. Trust me, this lens should not be limited in its capabilities. What a workhorse that was severely overlooked in its hay day. Of course no one is running out buying this with what the Pro Series m43 has. Or simply by it's size. I just had to sing praise to this lens that has been with me for 5 years strong! It's been dropped, wet, dirty and still stays true. It is my walk around. And it is good! I swear. With the technological advances in the Olympus m43 lens department (been reading the praises of the m43 Pro Series even rented the 12-40 mm for a couple of weeks) if a Pro Series 11-22 ever came to fruition? Here's my cash!! But surely that's not going to happen due to overlapping. So I'd buy another one just to have as a collector and another to replace my first love if ever its demise. Yeah it's that good! Even on a m43 body!

Yeah, the 43 system is defunct but the 11-22mm was and remains one of the stars of the system. This lens covers a small range but it does so with very little distortion. It is faster than the 7-14 and much less prone to lens flare. It is reasonably sized and takes a standard 72mm filter. It is weather and dust sealed for those trips into the great out-of-doors. This is nice lens for the landscape photographer.

I have had this lens for over three years now, and Love It !! I have been using it on an E-500, and it gives truely great images. Now I have started using it on an EM-5, and the results with it are even better. I really like shooting Black and White with the E-500, and the 11-22 gives me the results I am looking for. The lens shows great contrast, so I get a full range of tones in my images. Ultra wides (wider than 12 mm, or 24 mm on a 35 mm system) are great for landscapes, scenery, and skyscraper views, and interiors of homes. And if you are in a large crowd or at a sporting event, like a basketball game or a little league baseball or softball game, this lens is a great choice (as would the 7-14 or 9-18 be) This lens is the fastest of the three, and in the middle of the price range. Plus the 22 mm range is right up to “normal lens”, or normal perspective, so your shooting range is from “normal” to Ultra wide”… that takes in a lot of photo situations. The results obtained with this lens makes it well worth the cost. Colors come out rich and pure, the lens is sharp and contrasty. The lens feels balanced well with the E-500, as well with the OMD EM-5 (plus adapter), and easy to use. I would recommend it to Anyone using the E-Series or OM-D EM-5 Cameras.

Going through the reviews of this lens, I noticed that no one has reviewed this lens in over four years. This very fine high grade lens is frequently overlooked--the introduction of the Zuiko 12-60mm a few years ago rendered the 11-22mm a little hard to justify. I picked up a used copy of this lens from Adorma recently and I can say that this lens is a very fine lens, as are all the high grade lenses from Olympus. Nice color, very little distortion at 11mm and solid construction I plan to use it for underwater photography and landscape photography.

The 11 - 22mm F/2.8-3.5 it can either give off a great wide angle shot for that wave crashing on the beach or that up close shot of a beautiful flower in the summer, this lens does have a tiny bit of distortion, not so much of the sides when in the widest focal mm but more in the stretching of the subject. I love the great glass that is built into this lens because not only is it awesome in the weather even if it is raining, but also the fact that it isn't that expensive, you are definitely getting your moneys worth on this lens.

An excellent lens, with wonderful construction. Very very sharp accross the frame. Hefty but not so heavy, balances well on my camera (E510). Surprisingly in a way it became my main lens, it stays on the camera 80% of the time. Close focus gives interesting perspective. Niggles: extremely difficult (almost impossible) to attach or release the lens cap with hood on.

Very good lens, as are all that I own from Oly. Sharp all the way out to the corners and fast enough for most shooting. Very good construction, as expected. Works well on my E1 and E500. This lens gives you one heck of a wide view for those close quarters shots, without loss of clarity or unusual distortion. Tip: Keep Back on-plane.

Not as close a focusing distance as the 14-54. Very sharp. Not near the distortion you get from the 8mm. Has a hard time finding focus in low light. Harder than other lenses in the same conditions.

When you need wide angle lenses with great performance and fast apertures, Zuiko Digital Wide Zoom lenses can deliver. The superb optics are designed specifically for digital photography - delivering the highest image quality - with their design highlighted by two aspherical glass lens elements that help prevent aberrations and distortions. These elements combine with new multi-coating on the first two lenses, which contributes to the removal of ghost or glare that can occur with a wide-angle lens, so clarity of images is obtainedat all distances. Floating focusing system results in close focusing distance of 0.28m (11.02 inches) for close-up macro shots. Ideal for professional use.
