Absolutely superb!
Olympus allowed me to borrow this lens on a recent photographic workshop in Spain. All I can say is WOW! Terrific for night and low light shooting, ultra fast focusing, wonderful bokeh. Depends on how you like to shoot, but this could be the ultimate “walking around” lens. I own the Olympus 12-60mm f2.8 and love it, but if I had to do things over, I’d buy this lens – it’s unbeatable!

The lens, whilst not small,is not oversized. It's easy to carry and does not make the camera too bulky. I use the lens principally for taking street-portrait shots for a local paper. It focusses quickly and you can trust the image to be sharp. The wide aperture makes it brilliant for low-light non-flash conditions. It also gives a wide enough angle to use for landscapes. If you were able to buy only one high-quality lens, this would be it.

“So what,” you’re thinking, “I already know that Olympus Zuiko Digital lenses are awesome! Why do I need this one?” Well, because this is the world’s first standard zoom lens to feature a large f/2.0 aperture, which extends your photographic capabilities. But that’s not the only thing that makes the OLYMPUS 14-35MM F/2 E ZOOM LENS both a professionally brilliant and surprisingly fun lens to use. There are other details, from the imaging performance to the autofocus, that help make it what it is: an instant boost to anyone with great photography ambitions. But we at Adorama don’t like to skimp out on the details, so let’s explain why:
- The big aperture at f/2.0 is kind of a big deal. Not only was it the first of its kind on a standard zoom lens like this, but having a lot of aperture power is essential for achieving a lot of things that ordinary cameras might not be able to achieve. This Olympus 14-35 lens uses its aperture to grab clear images, even when working in low-light situations: it’s a big aperture, after all, that lets the Hubble telescope see distant galaxies. Not that we’re saying you should shoot galaxies with the Olympus 14-35 lens, but you get our point: aperture is important to photography back here on earth, as well.
- No detail is forgotten. Not in the flagship lens of the ZUIKO DIGITAL series of lenses. That’s why we here at Adorama are so confident you’ll enjoy this lens. There is reliable splash- and dustproofing, a large, petal-shaped hood and even a polarization filter control window. If the Olympus 14-35 lens were a car, it would be a high-performing sports car.
