Shopper : Can you attach a lens hood on this lens? if yes i wonder if olympus has a lens hood for this? thanks!STEVEN B : Olympus does not make a hood for this lens. You can check the compatibility tables at http://www.olympus.co.jp/en/support/imsg/digicamera/compati/di004042e_pen.cfm for that type of info. As others have said there are some third party options.MARC J : I didn't see one on Olympus' website, but there is a another company that carries them: gadgetinfinityHAROLD W : I am not sure. I don't think so. But there are rubber lenses that will fit around it and do the job; you have to go into the store and ask for ones that fit the outer diameter of the ring on the outside. I would go to the Olympus website and ask tech support or write to them in Long Island at their address. They just fixed my Pen Mini which I destroyed on the top of a tour bus in the rain for 6 months, out of warranty of course, but it is amazing now with the new firmware and new front, back and screen.MICHAEL F : Yes I use a screw-on hood. Works great. Check Adorama first.
Phil W : Is this lens compatible with the Olympus PT-EP03 for the E-PL2 camera? Many thanksHAROLD W : Gee, I don't see how it could not be. It isn't listed on the group of lenses that are supported by this underwater housing but if you can use the 14-42 or the 9-18mm which protrude far more from the camera body I don't see why it wouldn't. It is a pancake lens. I keep the 9-18mm on my new Olympus ep-1Mini at all times, and it is a much longer lens than the 14-42. But if you like you should contact Olympus. I think it is just an omission that they don't list it on their support list for the underwater housing. Supports the: M.ZUIKO DIGITAL 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 II M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-42mm 1:3.5-5.6 M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 9-18mm 1:4.0-5.6PETER A. P : Phil ! I am using this lens on the EP- 3 Camera Body . I believe it can be used on the EP-2 Body , but double check with the folks at Adorama . They are very helpful . I like it because it is compact and the images are very sharp !! Hope I helped !PETER A. P : Phil.....I think it ia compatible , however I would go to their website and/or ask one of the people at Adorama . They are very helpful. I will add though, that I have been using it on my EPL-3 . The photo's are Excellent .I recently printed some out........PeteMARC J : Not sure. I would ask a sales person at Adorama.

A fantastic prime

At an equivalent 24mm this lens has a very nice wide field, its sharp and its fast at 2.8 Could not recommend enough as a travel lens. Small and mighty.

Pancake 17mm good not great

If I am shooting on the street in an environment hostile to press cameras, it is handy to look innocent and pull out the little guy ( which is usually attached to my Pen Mini ) and not cause a ruckus. But the lens is relatively slow for a fixed focus. I shoot 1.4 or at slowest 2.0 if I can.
