Amazing field of view macro. I use this macro on much larger subjects or when I want to include more of the scene with my subject. Focus is fast and accurate. And the optics of this lens are just about the same clarity as its 60mm counterpart. I definitely recommend this lens for anyones kit.

I've always had a macro lens in my camera bag. When I purchased my Pen F it was a question of which M Zuiko macro? The 60mm has very tempting features but the 30mm provides 1:1.25 magnification and getting close is what it's all about. Sharpness is outstanding. Build quality is excellent. While the 60mm may still end up in my kit I'm delighted to have purchased this lens first. Macro photography opens the door to an amazing world. The M Zuiko 30mm is an excellent way to start that adventure.

What can I say, I really love this lens. At 30mm I use it as my prime lens. Excellent for both Portrait and Macro photos. It stays on my Camera at least 70% of the time. From Adorama, definitely a keeper!

I consider it my best Macro Lens. Sharp. Light, small. Simple. Very nice overall. My best Macro Lens.

Five Star Lens! Incredible on Macro. Super Sharp. My favorite got to Macro Lens. It is light, small in size, very simple to use, not even a Macro bottom on it. Except that it is not sealed proof, it should be considered as a professional Lens for sure. Please read reviews and see what actual professional cameraman has to say about it. It is also bright at F3.5. Except for the price, there are no real drawbacks to owning it. If you can afford it, please buy it!

This is my first macro lens. In addition to that, I'm a newbie in the whole area of serious digital photography. From what I can tell so far, this lens is typical M.Zuiko quality...which is to say, "It's great!" I like its weight and its sharpness. It will take me a while to grow into its capability.

Extremely compact ,very sharp, lens, mostly bought because of quick to focus when compared to 60mm Olympus f2.8 pro

I'm a complete beginner to DSL photography, and I bought this lens, because I hope to eventually be able to take great macro/close-up photos. With this lens I'm well on my way. The lens is very light weight. Working with the OMD E-M10 Mark 3, the focus is very responsive and the stabilization is great. I can get very close to objects and get great focusing range, even while being handheld. I'm sure my photos will look even better when I attach a tripod and get a good flash as well. This lens also works great as a stand alone prime lens. I've gotten some very nice landscape photos and portrait photos as well. As a beginner I highly recommend this lens, if you want to do macro photography. Even if you are just looking for a decent prime lens, I think this works great as well. I'm sure skilled photographers can do a lot more with a lens like this than I can at the current time.

I only give it 4 out of 5 stars cause its not weather sealed, but this is a great "bang for your buck" lens. The 30mm Macro has proven to be a very useful workhorse. While the weather sealing and 1:1 lock on the 60mm is very nice, for the price point, the 30mm well holds its own. Its very sharp, and while it exhibits a little vignetting at larger apertures, I usually shoot stopped down to f/8 or so where its gone, and I find it an appealing feature when it does present itself at wider apertures. The wider FoV at any given magnification over the 60mm allows you to place macro subjects in a larger surrounding environment, so its not as subject-isolating as the 60mm. The slightly greater magnification 1:1.25 is nice too, when you need it.

SHARP AND CHEAP! for the price you pay and the macro close focus this lens is sharp. you can create incredibly detailed distant landscape shots at F3.5. It rivals its weather sealed older sibling the 60mm for macro purposes. so unless you need to stand a bit father away from your subject and be in a wet environment, the 30mm Macro F3.5 lens works better for your wallet. in a pinch can act as a portrait lens but the 45mm olympus will do better at F1.8. Pairs excellently with the Pen F as a walk around camera and its JPEG engine renders beautiful landscape shots in decent light.

Awesome little lens for when you don't need full frame. I use it on a Lumix G85.

Picked up this lens on a $99 sale thru #getolympus. I was dubious that it would come even close to the stellar and venerated 60mm Macro. Yes, its a 3.5 instead of 2.8, and its not weather sealed, and no, it doesn't have a hard lock at 1:1. But its been a great lens to shoot with regardless. maximum aperture of little concern, as you'll prolly be stopped down for macro DoF anyways (F/8 or more). Very sharp, quick to focus, and even focuses closer at a higher magnification than the 60mm. The wider field of view allows much more of the background/environment behind and around your subject, so they're less isolated and scientific looking than with the longer FL of the 60mm. This means its easier to depict your macro subject, even at 1:1.25, within its greater environment some. Of course, this also means you're closer to the subject, so flying insects become very difficult, tho not impossible, to photograph without a lot of patience as they get scared away. If you're an older photog like me, this is in many respects very, very similar to shooting with the venerable Nikon 55mm f/3.5 Micro-Nikkor on FF film, with similar aperture and focal length. Except if anything, this little olympus is even sharper. Even with its limitations vs the 60mm, I give it 5-stars for IQ, usability and the fact that its a great lens at an ever greater price.

I own both of Olympus' macro lenses. I like the 60mm lens better than this one for the quality of the macro photos and having more distance available for dealing with living subjects. Where this one shines is its much lighter weight. When I’m putting on the miles out on a trail this makes a difference. Have been very happy with the quality of the images this lens has produced. I shoot macro quite often and can whole heartedly recommend this lens if you do, too.

Good lens to get started with macro work. I bought it to have a small and light lens that traveled well. You have to get very close to your subject with this lens so lighting your subject can be hard. Overall it is sharp and does the job it was built for,

I love this lightweight and inexpensive lens! It's perfect to take along on trips and won't take up hardly any space, unlike my Canon EF 100mm L macro lens, which means I actually will use it instead of being left at home. The 9.5 cm minimum focus from the sensor means I can get right up to the subject and the focusing is quick with my Olympus OM-D EM-5 II.

So I bought this to use with my Olympus Pen 2 which I love. I use fast prime lenses other than the 30mm Macro and they work great. This macro lens likes to hunt even in a general setting with good lighting. Ive tried it on a newer Pen model and same. Could be a bad copy of the lens. I'm probably going to return it and just go with another prime faster lens.

Getting the lens in January gave a little challenge to find a place for close up things. But a walk in the woods solved this. When I opened the package I was impressed by the lightness and simpleness of the design and ease of use. The only complaint I have with the lens is that I will lock on the background and it is hard to disengage even when using the f3.5 stop. Learning the focal length took some time, but not too much I recommend the lens and so far am glad I bought it.

Very useful for close up and general photography. Lens is very sharp, focus very quietly with Olympus cameras. Small and light weight make it easy to carry.

This lens feels well built. It takes very sharp pictures and i can make the depth of field super thin on macro shots. It struggles indoors in low light conditions so if this is what you need look for another lens. Otherwise, this is a nice lens.

The 30mm macro is a great lens. I bought it to take travelling, since I find my 60mm macro stays home to save weight. Now I am taking just the 30mm instead of both the 25mm f1.8 and the 60mm macro and I am really saving a lot of bulk and weight. The lens is very sharp at f3.5, so no worries there. Be aware it is not weather resistant and it does not accept a lens hood. It is a tremendous value when it goes on sale (which it seems to be frequently).

Great lens for the price!!! Was able to grab it for less than $100 and I am impressed by the image quality! The only downside is that you would have to go extremely close to focus on the subject....

Another outstand lens by Olympus the perfect mate for the 60 macro. The 30 gives a wider angle of view, great dof and IQ. Ideal for studio product and food photography and a excellent choice for outdoor nature and street photography. Small, light and never disappoints.

Want to get in really close, well this is the lens for you. I take this out into my garden and shoot away, bees, flowers, butterflies. Can get right into the flower pedals, stamens etc. Beautiful images. Also a good everyday lens.
