Very sharp lens as nearly everyone reports. Coupling with EX-25 extension tube increases versatility. Excellent addition to my 4/3 lens collection.

I bought this as a way to try out a new prime lens, buying it used. The lens arrived quickly after ordering it. (Adorama is one of the best online dealers I've dealt with). The lens itself is in mint condition, works like it is brand new.

I just got this lens. Work well very clear pictures. I had read that it searches when focusing. Makes- Agrinding noise. It did that for me. This seemed to occur when the object is dark or with no clearly define edges. I always have used single point focusing. I tried multipoint focusing . The focusing was then extremely fast and appears to be accurate. And with out searching. I hope this holds up. Also tried five point pattern. Again, focusing was very fast and appears accurate and there was no searching. If the pics turn out well, and multipoint or 5point focusing give clear pics, ths lens will be one of the best if not the best that I own.

Wonderful lens, stunning sharpness and microcontrast, gorgeous bokeh. Every manufacturer has their superstar lenses that have that little bit of magic in them. This lens has that magic. Works great on my E-M1 as a portrait lens too.

Non-zoom lens equivalent to 100mm focal length on a 35mm film camera. Since I already nave the great Zuiko 12-60 mm (= 24 to 120 mm) f2.8-4.0 lens, which has pretty good close focusing capability at the tele end, this lens does not add much new macro capability. But it's 2 stops faster, and only weighs half as much. This lens has great bokeh. I use it as a portrait and general walking-around lens. Since I shot 35mm film cameras for years with 90mm and 135mm lenses, I'm very comfortable with this one. The extra speed helps in low light or when shooting hand held with a polarizer or other filter that cuts down the light.

This is a wonderfully sharp lens with great bokeh. The shallow dof requies a bit of care with focussing, but gives great creative possibilities. A must have, especially at the price.

This product was on my "wish list" for better than two years as I wanted to get back into Macro Photography. Now that I have it, I wonder why I waited. My results have been spectacular. I couldn't be more pleased. Also, this was my first purchase from Adorama. I was impressed with both their telephone customer service representative who answered all my questions and the On-line order process where I ultimately placed the order. I will certainly order from Adorama again.

Excellent lens and already have used it multiple times to produce excellent images. Added to that Adorama's shipping and customer service and I am one very happy customer.

I love this lens. I bought it because I wanted something with a better f-stop than I had with my zoom lenses. This does just that. The light gathering ability is wonderful and the pictures are some of the sharpest I've seen. While I do use this lens for my still life work I'm also very impressed with the macro capabilities. Finally, while this is a prime 50mm lens, remember that on your Olympus camera you have to double that number for an equivalent measure. So this lens works as a 100mm prime.

Note that to get "true" 1:1 macro, the Olympus EX-25 Extension Tube is also required.

I have been using this lens for underwater macro...check out www.watertimes.org for actual macro shots taken with this lens and appropriate underwater port/camera housing. Quality lens!

I am happy that I purchased this lens, the photos are crisp and very or I can blur the background with the lens wide open (f/2.0). In low light it can be a little slow in focusing. Manual focusing does help in low lighting.

Again, cannot believe the POOR quality of a lens from Olympus. Just not worth the money!

The Olympus 50mm f/2 macro is the benchmark by which all other macros should be judged. critically sharp, no distortion. only drawback is no focus limiter switch, which causes some hunting. This limits its use as a portrait camera. If you have a 43 camera, this is a no brainer. for comparison, I have used the Panasonic leica 45mm 2.8 for m43, sigma 50mm 2.8 for nikon, tokina 35mm for nikon, 85 3.5 nikon AF-S DX VR, sony 50mm macro, sony 100mm macro. I am an advanced semi-pro flower photographer.

Bought this to teach myself portrait photography. I probably would have this on my camera all the time but then I got the 14-54 & so now interchange them as needed.

This is a great lens - bokeh at F2.0 is stunning. f2-f22 allows a very wide range to manage bokeh.

This lens not only fills a gap, but it is a class of its own. Sharp, crisp, fast, I now focus and adjust my DoF with my feet. With this lens I get to interact with my subject and as a result my photography has become more personal, even intimate. This lens is why I shoot Olympus. The image is in the photographer, the photo is in the glass, the camera is only the receptacle.

I use this lens as my macro/portrait lens... the bokeh is great and focus less than inch form the front element. Every 4/3 photographer should have one.

This is the sharpest lens that I've ever used. I gave it a 5 star over all. It isn't the fastest focusing lens and it has some problems in low light but beyond that I use it all the time in low light. What ever 4/3rds camera you use this on, you'll not be disapointed.

I use Zuiko 50mm Macro lens with E-620. This lens is best for macro and unbelievebly good in portrait. A must-have for Oly E-system.

Love this lens for portraits... the 50mm give enough space and the f2.0 is awesome. First prime lens I ever got, but easy to get use to it. Macro is spectacular!!!

I was looking for a perfect portrait lens for my GH1. I've seen the Sigma 1.4 50mm, 30mm, and the nikon 50mm but this one is amazing for a couple reasons. It's much lighter than the Sigma, the images are sharp and the macro is amazing. although when focusing it sounds like ball bearings in a rollerskate wheel (not as loud). It feel sturdy and the sharpness, saturation is great. I really enjoy this lens. To me it's the perfect do everything lens from tiny to landscape the pictures come out great. The narrow DOF and f/2.0 is more than enough for very soft backgrounds even shooting portraits in a very small studio

Everything good you read about this lens is true. It is a 5-star lens except for the slow auto-focus especially in low light. I don't know about lens design or autofocus algorithms, but I do know my 12-60mm and 25mm 4/3 lenses focus FAST. If the 50mm focused as fast I would rate it 5 1/2 stars. The 50mm is a bargain considering it's excellent IQ. Manual focus is not a good solution for the slow auto-focus in low light. The the OVF's on every prosumer camera I've used make accurate manual focus nearly useless overall and totally useless in low light. Oh well, I'm going Micro 4/3 soon. They say manual focus is quite useable on the EVF. If true the 50mm Zuiko is probably the only classic 4/3 lens I will keep because it is small and light.

I've been wanting a prime lens with better than 3.5 aperture for quite some time. I'm very glad I waited and got this excellent lens. The pictures it produces are beautiful and sharp and the bokeh is glorious.

Incredible sharpness by F3.5. The small lens dimensions and the compact dimensions of an Olympus camera really add to the possibilities with Live View

This lens is absolutely wonderful! Great for macro, you don't need to get to close to your subject but definitely can. I use this more as my all purpose lens for portraits and some wildlife stuff, mainly for "what the human eye sees". The only problem I have run into is forgetting that the focal length is doubled since it is a four thirds lens. I was confined to a small room trying to shoot a medium sized item and couldn't get it all in the frame, what I should have been using was a wide angle lens. This lens is very quick to focus on my E3 but can "search" for a while if you don't have your camera set right. The clarity of this lens continues to amaze me and it produces a great out of focus background look. Sigma can't come anywhere close to this with their macro or "short primes", trust me, get this lens!

I really debated about getting this lens but am very glad I did. Beautiful effects, especially with portraits and close-ups. After using an 18-180 zoom (which I also love), it takes a little getting used to a fixed focal length. But I definitely recommend this lens.

Fast and Clear Macro and Portraits
By Kurt
Lens made in Japan, this lens is faster, has better glass and mounts smoother than the two DZ 35mm f3.5 macro lenses that I have tested. The craftsmanship on my 50mm f2.0 is extremely good. Macro magnification is sufficient for general purpose and the addition of the EX-25 extension tube will get you in really close. Paired with the EX-25, this lens can still autofocus for macro shots. A good two-piece combination. The lens barrel does extend way out to focus in close, but that is typica...

Incredible lens
By David
This may be the finest macro lens for any camera from any manufacturer. It is compact, fairly lightweight, and bright with a maximum f/2.0 aperture. Used as a macro lens, the lens produces crisp pictures with no discernible aberrations even wide open. Stopped down to f/4 to f/8 the clarity of the lens improves and produces some stunning images. As with all macros the depth of field is small, and stopping down the lens to increase it can produce some problems as the physics of putting ligh...
