Excellent lens! Light and compact, reasonably fast AF (for a macro) and very sharp. Of course it's a great, affordable choice for macro work but it also makes an excellent walk around lens; even good for portraits! If something happened to this copy I would immediately buy it again. The only caveat is that if you flip the selector to get true 1:1 and THEN use autofocus, in a wrong focal distance, the lens will automatically drop out of 1:1 and switch to the appropriate setting for the distance you are shooting at. A mixed blessing, more operator error than any true problem with the lens. Practice makes perfect!

It's a fantastic device for doing macro work with my Olympus OM camera bodies. It has helped me my skills in the area of macro photography. I only wish I could have the 90mm which has a 2x magnification factor. Maybe one of these days--but for now, I'll have to stick with this 60mm wonder.

Works great. Lives up to expectations. Can easily fill the frame while photographing jewelry.

Putting this on an OM-1, it seems tiny next to the body! I was expecting something much larger and heavier, and was pleasantly surprised. Four stars rather than five because it _really_ needs an AF/MF toggle on the lens itself, and the LH-49 lens hood ought to be included in the purchase price. That said -- I used it to take photos of some of my wife's homemade jewelry via a ring flash, and it came out great! I do own a big, heavy full-frame, manual-focus macro lens from Rokinon, and this is far more practical (both because of size/weight and weather resistance -- the Rokinon rarely leaves home, whereas there's no reason not to throw this in the bag when traveling). Autofocus is slow, but not _unreasonably_ slow when using the lockout. Note that, f/2.8 or no, this lens wants a lot of light. Doing indoor macro shooting, a flash is a good idea.

An amazing lens. Requires a little learning, but not a hard task. Anyone interested in macro photography will love it.

Love this lens. Still having fun with it shooting anything and everything from all angles. Recommend using manual focus, flash and a diffuser when getting those close up shots. If you have interest in macro photography this is the lens for you.

This is the best lens of its type i have used. I get results just as good as my old Nikon outfit in a much smaller and lighter package. I am glad i bought it, a fun lens to use.

I have been thrilled with this lens ever since I got it for my G9. It has a permanent spot in my camera bag since it is so versatile. It is a superb macro lens that is also a great portrait lens. I just wish that Olympus would provide a more thorough user's guide.

This is a marvelous lens for macro. It has opened a whole new realm of photography with the Olympus 4/3 system. To date, not a single complaint about the lens. I am looking forward to every opportunity to use this startling lens.

Amazing lens - great build quality, superb image, smooth bokeh. AF can be a little slow, but that is to be expected at the macro level, but very quick AF at further distances. Takes a little getting used to, and I love the results. The reach is especially nice - works well for insects without scaring them away.

I bought my 60mm prime macro lens on 5/20/21. That weekend I took it to Rock Creek Park and started shooting bugs, moss, leaves etc. I was pleasantly surprised with my results. I attribute that good results to watching Chris McInnis' macro video and reading macro articles on the Olympus website. Without that information I probably would have found the focus limiter too perplexing. The lens doesn't operate exactly the way a regular prime lens would, and there is a bit of a learning curve. But reading and watching videos really helps flatten that learning curve. I love the results I can get with this lens. Earlier this week I purchased several accessories for it, and can't wait to take my 60mm macro lens back to Rock Creek Park.

Easy to use. Works flawlessly with TTL flash whether flash is a couple of inches away or placed feet away. Images are sharp. A keeper, for sure.

The Zuiko ED 60mm F2.8 Macro Lens is my favorite if it comes to Macro photography. It is sharp, quick, and accurate. It's also very shallow, creating incredible boeken. At first, you have to learn how to use it. How it reacts, and how to best explore it. After this, the lens will show you it's an incredible performance. I highly recommend Zuilo ED 60mm F2.8 for its brilliant performance.

Very sharp macro lens. Compatible with in camera fosus stacking on certain Olympus cameras. Great clear macro photography.

Superb lens, especially for the price. Tack sharp and quick to focus, especially if you use the focus limiter properly. Weather sealing is great and the lens is very small and light. Fairly bright and fast too at f/2.8 wide open. Could double as a portrait lens, though the focal length might be a little longer than some would like for that purpose.

What I like the most about this lens is the fact that combined with a the m43 system, you gain a deeper depth of field when compared to Full Frame system or even APS-C. It is a sharp lens, completely silent lens as well if you ever plan to do video with it.

Awesome lens. As it is my first macro it took a while to get used to. I’m still learning to use it but am achieving some excellent results.

Not a pro here, but wow was I blown away by the crystal clarity of this lens. Learned a lot about the value of a multicoated filter immediately, too.

I'd love to give this lens five stars but I can't. I was somewhat disappointed with the lens' overall performance. It's great for shooting either center weighted or spot; when shooting pattern, the lens will go to infinity (more times than not); once this happens it's hard to bring the subject back into focus even using the focus ring. However, I was able to achieve some great shots; clear, crisp- magnificent macro. The lens was just more difficult to work with than expected; I didn't run into these issues with the 30 mm and thought the 60 mm would perform much same; it didn't.

Santa "brought" me this lens. I love it. I am fully engaged in macro photography now. I attended a local camera club workshop on macro photography and they could not believe the compactness of this lens and the results on my OM-D EM-1 mark II. That and the focus stacking feature allowed me to almost handhold some macro shots. Excellent edge-to-edge sharpness. The 60mm is an excellent focal length and gives a nice, comfortable working distance. Only thing missing is the lens hood. Why isn't that part of the package?

Beautifully sharp photos both for macro and longer. Makes a good portrait lens as well as macro. I like that it is small and easily packs away for travel.

Small, light, and sharp, this is just a fun little lens for those that love macro or close focus photography that can also double as an outdoor portrait lens. Limit switch option helps to minimize focus hunting plus this lens can do focus bracketing and focus stacking. Size and weight along with IBIS makes closeup shooting fun. Highly recommended!

small and tack sharp plus you can enact focus stacking in camera in an Olympus OM-D M1 MkII. An amazing gem

Hesitated to buy this as I don't do a ton of macro stuff, but now that I have it I do a lot more. Also, the length and quality makes it a pretty solid portrait and general purpose lens

Another great bang for buck lens option in the mFT family. I have so much fun taking macro images with this lens. My only wish, perhaps for the next version (?), would be to lock the 1:1 focus range like the other 2 options on the lens.

I've had this lens in my bag for barely a week--or, I should say, on my EM-5 MKII, because I haven't swapped it out even once in that time. Yes, I love shooting macro, and this lens is simply unmatched for close-up photography: light, easy to focus, and razor sharp. But it's also a great short-length tele, and it's light and unobtrusive, so it's a great lens to have at the ready at any time. Buy this lens now. You will not be disappointed.

My daughter loves the idea of macro photography... seeing something up close so you can take in all kinds of details you otherwise miss... pollen on a petal, the layers and connections of gears in a mechanical watch, the hairs on a creepy spiders legs! With this lens, she can capture all those details without having to get too close for comfort. She sets up her tiny tripod and clicks away, with great results every time. Add on that this lens works great for portraits with beautiful bokeh, and it's a real winner!

Great versatility. Amazing for macros, and works great as a portrait lens too.

Bought for my wife and used by me...
By James G.
I bought a GH-5 for my wife to use since she is getting pretty heavy into photography since I started my business. She is very interested in pursuing Macro Photography so I looked for a suitable lens to give her some capabilities without spending an arm and a leg. So far, this lens has performed admirable. A little soft around the edges but not bad at all. It is good enough that I have used it for some of my own work where my 90mm on my D750 just didn't give me quite enough reach. An exc...

I highly recommend this lens

After using this lens for several months, I have to say that the Olympus 60mm macro is one of my favorite lenses. I have several Olympus primes and the 60mm macro is just as good as any in terms of image quality. At approximately 3.2? long, it’s about the same size as the Olympus 12-50mm kit lens, albeit a little smaller in diameter. The lens seems well made and it gets a big plus for being splash and dust proof. The entire body, including the focus ring and distance dial, are made of plastic...

Magnificent Macro - M.Zuiko ED 60mm f2.8 Macro
Macro photography is all about the details - and this lens is powerful enough to pick up fine minute details at close distances! Featuring a 1x magnification and minimum focusing distance of about 7-and-a-half inches it strikes a nice balance between just close enough and not so close you'll cast shadows on the scene. It's also worth noting that the 60mm Macro features an extremely bright f2.8 maximum aperture for superb low-light performance and advanced construction employing no less than 13 separate lens elements in 10 groups including some high-end glass materials to help eliminate chromatic aberrations.
60mm Single Focal Length
Splashproof, Dustproof Construction
ZERO (Zuiko Extra-low Reflection Optical) coating
Bright f2.8 Aperture
High-Speed Imager AF (MSC)
Macro Minimum focus distance 7.5 inches
Get Up Close and Personal
This high-quality dust and splash-proof macro lens features a 7.4-inch minimum focusing distance at 1:1 life-size magnification. The M.Zuiko Digital ED 60mm f2.8 Macro has an MSC mechanism and an internal focusing system that won't change the length of the lens when focusing, which is critical at close working distances.
Weatherproof Construction
Sometimes the harshest conditions produce the most dramatic photo opportunities. This lens is splash- and dustproof, so you can take it outside during bad weather and get the shots you need.
Shhhhh, Amazing Photography in Progress
The inclusion of the Movie & Still Compatible (MSC) mechanism makes AF operations completely silent. In combination with the OM-D's Silent Mode (electronic shutter), you can photograph skittish nature subjects as well as indoor events that require complete silence like musical performances. The size and weight of the OM-D system and these silent features open up a whole new world of shooting possibilities!
Focus Faster
The 60mm has a Focus Limit Switch, which allows you to establish a narrower range of focus and zero in on your subject faster - particularly useful in shallow-depth-of-field macro shooting. It has a convenient shooting distance and magnification display window to enhance macro shooting control.
