As my first DSLR I upgraded it to a E-30 in a year... I was really happy with it, but I wanted more and more from my camera.

I am enjoying the happiness and satisfaction of DSLRs and E520 is definitely for me (the beginners). I started shifting from AUTO mode now. The only problem I face is the keeping the on/off button right below the modes, which is irritating in a way. Had it been some where else it would have been nice. It would have been easy to operate than the present position. This is more to the Olympus design team. Otherwise wow!! I am enjoying my pictures more than ever before. I would say, its 4.7 / 5.0 . But stars are 4 or 5.

I have used digital cameras for many years but have not had an SLR. I wanted something that was a good camera but lighter than the larger ones. I am so pleased with the quality of photos I have gotten so far. Even though I have had it just a couple of weeks I love it. Now I just have to learn all that it can do. Great camera for the price you can't go wrong with this.

Easy to use. Functions like Film SLR. Fast recovery post photos with or without flash. Cheap to operate. Previous Canon A1 user and finally this digital camera now surpasses this cameras capabilities and functions. Very happy with this unit.

I am hesitant in posting because I purchased the camera and took it on a trip to Alaska before I even learned to use it. I still do not know how to use all of its features but this is no fault of the camera but mine. For not knowing anything about it, it served me well on the trip and it was easy to use; I just pointed and click. It took great pictures, and as much as I left it on throughout the day, I never had to charge the battery once. I really do like this camera but should take time to learn how to use all its features. It really is easy to use but would strongly recommend you read the handbook as I still need to because I am sure there was a lot more I could have done. My favorite picture was of the cruise ship with the sunset in the background and the Seattle skyline from the port. From what I know of other cameras and I searched, I am very pleased with the products. I have an Olympus digital and this was an easy step up. You definitely need to get the filter kit. I can tell the difference in the pictures.

The Olympus E520 is a great first SLR. I upgraded from S2 IS and I am really in love with this one. The colors are great, the size is not too big, the lenses are small and of excellent build quality. The only problem as I see it is that the camera is not good in low light. Apart from that, I think this is a very good Camera. Still learning. I was looking for a 2 lens offer which was given to me only by Adorama. [...]

The Olympus E-520 is a 10.0 Megapixel Digital SLR Camera with 2.7" HyperCrystal II LCD Screen and 14-42mm Lens. The E-520's industry-leading Image Stabilization technology, which is built into the camera body, compensates for movement so you can capture blur-free shots with any lens even at slow shutter speeds. Autofocus Live View brings subjects into sharp focus; it is the perfect tool for macro, portrait or even landscape shooting. This camera was built to produce amazing results for photo hobbyists and serious digital photographers alike.
The 14-42mm standard zoom lens is the smallest and lightest in its class and features a closest focusing distance of only 25cm. The ED (Extra-low Dispersion) and two aspherical lens elements correct aberrations without increasing lens dimensions. The circular aperture diaphragm enables beautiful defocusing - one of the big advantages of this lens
