Questions & Answers

glenn s : Can I use It on my 60mm macro lens?MICHAEL S : As long as your camera and mounts have the 4/3rds mount system, then you are good. If you are shooting an older model of Olympus before the 4/3rds...then not likely.BOB W : No. This teleconverter fits only between the older, larger E-series lenses and bodies like the E-3 or E-5. Micro 4/3 lenses like this 60mm macro and bodies like the Pen and OM-D cameras have smaller mount diameters. Even if a step-up adapter existed to bridge that diameter difference, the adapter would create too much gap between the lens and sensor. You would not be able to focus on your subject.ROBERT S : If you are talking about the Olympus micro four thirds camera then no. This is for four thirds bodies like the E series.
Steve R : when i upgrade from my e520 to newer olympus body will my lenses be compatible ?ANDREW R : I believe that you would need an adapter. The e520 is a 4/3 mount camera body. The current crop of Olympus mirrorless camera bodies all use the Micro 4/3 mount. 4/3 mount lenses are not directly compatible.
Steve R : when i upgrade from my e-520 to a newer OLYMPUS model (body only) will my lenses fit, be compatible?BOB W : Your Olympus Zuiko lenses will work on all Olympus E-system 4/3 camera bodies. M. Zuiko lenses (as well as Micro 4/3 lenses from other manufacturers) will work on Micro 4/3 systems like the Olympus Pen digital bodies and OMD system bodies, but not on the E-series cameras. To use 4/3 lenses on Micro 4/3 bodies, an Olympus MMF-3 Four Thirds Lens to Micro Four Thirds Lens Mount Adapter is needed as a spacer that positions the older lenses at the proper distance from the sensor in the mirrorless M4/3 bodies. Optical performace is not affected, but auto-focusing speeds will be reduced on all but the recent OMD EM1 body (which is, by the way, a sensational M4/3 camera).KAREN S : The teleconverter and other lenses should work on all Olympus DSLRs. I have used the same lenses on an E-3 and an E-5. I think you need a converter if you are planning to get one of the new OM models.

"Worth the wait !"

lots of light here in high desert and really adds to my 100-400 for birds of prey shots...just what I expected...had to wait 3 weeks before I used it but not disappointed one bit.

Extended Reach with Pure Transparency

With the lens design requirements of digital photography Olympus has produced a tele extender which in my opinion outperforms the apo extenders designed for film. Olympus never uses the term Apo but the transparency and color fidelity of the 1.4 tele extender are superb. It is a worthy addition to the very finest lenses, especially if you can stop down two stops.

It appears to me that the parameters of lens design for digital photography have produced a tele convertor that out performs apo designs for film. If you can tolerate stopping down not one but two stops the results are just extraordinary. A worthy addition to the highest performance four thirds lenses. Olympus never uses the term apo to describe their lenses, but the color fidelity and resolution remains at the highest Olympus standard when you stop down a total of two stops.

Extend Your Creative Possiblities

If you can stop down one extra stop the image quality will meet the expectations of a perfectionist.

Worth Getting

The extra length is worth it, but it seems to slow the auto focus a bit

Awesome addition to my equipment

I use the EC14 with my 70-300mm and 50-200mm SWD for wildlife as well as macro work. The additional power with only one F/stop loss is great. No loss of IQ that I can see. I highly recommend it.

Same Quality as Olympus Lenses

Same high quality as Olympus lenses. The perfect companion to the 50-200SWD. It only costs you one stop and the VF image, especially in the E-3, is bright and sharp. The image quality is superb. I've even used it with the 70-300 with fine results, even hand-held with IS enabled. A bit pricey, but worth it.

joy to use

The 1.4 x provides a small form factor, costs only one stop of light and provides just enough extra reach in most situations. Paired with my 50-200 lens it's a great addition.

Perfect for travelling

Just perfect if you're trying to keep your gear down to a minimum (i.e. travelling)
