Shopper : OK, do you screw this eyecup on the viewfinder or PUSH it on? I don't want to force it. TIA!WILLIAM R : Sorry for the late answer. One has to push the eyecup on but it will take some force to get it on. Be sure to match the diopter mark with the one on the eyecup. That makes it easier to set the viewfinder back to neutral if it is moved.ARTHUR V : I also had some difficulty in mounting the eyecup. You need yo work it on by starting a small portion and then work the balance over the lip. Once on it stays there and works fine. Hope this helps.MARK W : It pushes on the viewfinder. It is tight but no worries.VELIMIR K : I don’t remember the exact details, but I found it somewhat tricky to install. You don’t screw it but you need to push it up. I does not go easily, but it can be done.
In my opinion, this is not the best design. A better design would be a screw type, in my opinion, And also, I think it should be a past of this expensive piece. Charging $15 for a this piece (which cannot cost more than 50 cents to make) I find outrageous. But, I do use it since I wear glasses and the viewfinder is easier to use with the eye cup.
I hope this helps.Richard J : You remove the rubber piece that is already on the VF-2 and replace it with the new eyecup. It stretches over and into a grooved lip on the plastic viewfinder body.ANDY R : It's push on... But it also sets you back further from the viewfinder so the view is a little cut off. I returned mine.LUKE B : Hi. I bought the vf-2 and ep-9 eyecup about two years ago. The eyecup is essential for comfort and for blocking out light. I hadn't taken the eyecup off since I put it on when I purchased it. I just removed it and put it back on. There are three rectangular depressions inside the edge of the eyecup and three matching rectangular projections on the rim of the viewfinder. I lined those up, worked one part of the eyecup over the edge, then worked both thumbs around each side, pressing the edge of the eyecup over the rim of the viewfinder.
Hope that helps!BRIAN S : It is pushed onto it. I warmed mine up in hot water, dried it and installed it right away. Took a few tries.SEYMOUR R : My VF-2 came with the eyecup already attached.RAYMOND A : it doesn't screw. you kinda maneuver on. start with one edge & sorta pull/stretch til it seats properly. it's not easy. you have to be strong but not forcing. and once you get it on, don't ever take it off.MICHAEL M : It snaps on the same way the original does and was easy to install.JOHN H : push while working it on to the lip. First remove the rim of the existing eyepiece, unscrews.FRANK R : You sit it so that one portion is under the eyecup, and they pull it the rest of the way over the eyecup. It's a really tight fit.HANH N : I bought it a year ago and have the same dilemma. Didn't want to break my VF2 so it's been sitting unused since. Sorry, you may want to try Olympus Tech Support.DANNY R : Hi, you just push it straight on, but it is a tight fit. (That is GOOD...it stays on well without being knocked off.) After removing the original eyecup you will see a white index mark on the viewfinder. line that mark up with the mark on the eyecup. There are 3 small cutouts on the eyecup that should now be aligned with the 3 raised portions on the viewfinder. Start one side on and work the eyecup over the viewfinder, stretching from the inside with your finger. It is tight, but it will go on.
Hope this helps.CRISTIAN D : Push it on, to my recollection ("peel" off the old one and snap on the new one).JONATHAN F : There are 3 tabs on the VF-2 that you line up with the eyecup. With just a little pressure, you should be able to attach the eyecup with no problem.
Ed C : Is this item brand new?MARK W : Yes it was brand new in the original Olympus package.ARTHUR V : I found the eye cup to be very useful. It helps a great deal in framing the shot and keeps out excess light under bright sunny conditions. I would recommend the eye cup.DANA C : Yes I bought it new from Adorama. I found one used on eBay but for the extra $8 I wanted new. So far I like it especially outdoors.SEYMOUR R : I bought it new rather than used but I don't know how long it has been available.DONNA R : I bought mine last year to go with my viewfinder and I love bothRAYMOND A : it's been on the market for well over a year, if that's what you mean.JERRY J : Yes, Adorama only sells new products unless you're buying something that is specifically labeled as a refurbished product or you're buying from the used department.
I bought this from Adorama last year and it was brand new and still in the sealed package when I got it.EDWIN L : YesBRUNO G : Mine was and I wonder why would you assume Adorama would not tell you if it is new or used?JAMES K : The item I purchased is brand new. It is so new that it's a little stiff to install, but once on, it will stay put.JOHN V : The one I received was brand new.BRUCE B : To my knowledge it was designed for the VF-2.ARNOLD C : Yes, brand new!AIDEN K : Yeah it is. Do you wanna buy it from me? I don't even use it. It's new in a sealed package. I thought it had the actual viewfinder too but it's only the rubber eyecup. If you want it, email me
Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?BARRI O : This is my second order for another camera with the VF2 viewfinder. I liked the eye cup so well I ordered another, even though they are expensive for what they are they are worth it, letting any extraneous light stay outside, and allowing a person to concentrate on composing the scene in the viewfinder.ALAN F : Blocks the light coming around the viewfinder, makes it much easier to see, a must-have accessory for me.SEYMOUR R : to eliminate stray light
