This flash works extremely well. It's very easy to set up and it performs without a hitch with my OMD EM1 Mark II camera. I highly recommend it.

Very small and works well on the Oly EM-5.

Good tradeoff between size and power. The Olympus RC (remote control) system is really convenient and allows nice remote control of the flash from the back of the camera with separate channels and separate control of the on-camera flash. In case you've ever wondered what the purpose of that little FL-LM1 or pop-up flash was on your micro 4/3 camera, it's largely to allow remote signaling of your other flashes. But you do need line-of-sight to the front of the flash base for the RC to work. There are certainly lighting configurations in which a corded (or wireless for the high-flyers) connection is more reliable.

It's a nice on camera flash. The small size complements the EM-5 nicely. I recommend using it with the grip, otherwise the camera gets a bit top heavy. The remote capabilities aren't that great. It works under ideal line of sight conditions, but not as reliably as Nikon's system. A major drawback is the very annoying bright flashing of the LED light when in remote use. Haven't found a way to switch that off, so if gaffer taped it.

This flash is a perfect complement to the Olympus OM-D E-M5 m43 camera system. It's small size matches the camera perfectly. It does not over balancing the camera. It 'speaks' wirelessly (IR) with the E-M5 and when used off camera can still be controlled from the camera body. (This is very useful when the flash is in an awkward position or out of reach, helping keep the shoot fluid and easy going. No stoppage to get to the flash to change it's power.) The LED is a great model light, helping 'aim' the flash. It also provides a good steady light for video. Even tho it is smaller and lighter than similar flashes, it's power is well balanced. I did not find it underpowered, even with a GN of 36. It works extremely well with my Rogue modifiers (grid, sm soft box, and filters) and helps keep my travel kit to a minimal weight. Once I master this flash, I am sure I will be purchasing a second one. (and maybe a third for more complicated lighting setups) If you are an Olympus m43 shooter - GET THIS FLASH!

Excellent flash, especially for the OM-D. It "speaks" the OM-D's language when it comes to perfect exposures (very few washed out "flash-blasts"). I highly recommend this FL-600R for any studio work, especially by remote. On the camera it's fine, no digital hot-spots or flash-artifacts (like with so many other flashes/ camera systems). Beautiful design!

The FL-600R is an easy-to-use, external flash unit with a wide LCD display and wireless control capabilities. It features a built-in LED light that can function as an AF illuminator for still images or as full-time auxiliary lighting for shooting movies. As a bounce flash, the FL-600R tilts upward to 90 degrees and downward to 7 degrees, and it can swivel side-to-side up to 180 degrees in each direction. A wide panel and catch light plate are built into the unit, so you won't misplace them when traveling. Flash settings can be adjusted using the arrow keys and dial on the back of the unit or via the controls on an attached camera.
In wireless mode, the FL-600R has a built-in commander function to remotely fire other wireless flash units without firing itself, but it can also be used as a slave flash, controlled by a camera's built-in flash or by another commander unit. Up to three groups of flashes, plus a clip-on flash such as the FL-LM2, can be configured independently. Four wireless channels are available, which prevents interference from other photographers' flashes. In addition to the wireless option, the flash can be attached and locked securely onto a camera's hot shoe or mounted externally using a compatible flash bracket and cable, such as the FL-BK01, FL-BKP02, FL-BKM03 or FL-BK04.
Powered by four AA alkaline or NiMH batteries, the FL-600R's charging time is approximately half as long as that of the FL-50R.
Wireless mode is not fully functional with the OLYMPUS PEN E-P1, the E-1 or Evolt 300 330 410 500 510. Wireless Mode only works in Manual mode on the flash, not TTL. The flash will provide TTL when mounted directly on these models.
Note: Wireless TTL mode is possible with the SP-560UZ, SP-565UZ, SP-570UZ and SP-590UZ. These models do not have a hotshoe. The firmware of the SP-560 UZ must be updated to provide this functionality. Firmware updates can be downloaded and installed via OLYMPUS Master 2 or Digital Camera Updater software.
