I love this flash's convenient mix of power and small size, and the fact it could be triggered and controlled for different settings by the OM Wireless command unit that is sold separately, i think the guide numbers could be conservative because i am having too much power on 1/128 about a meter and a half from the subject when shooting wide open with my Awesome Zuiko 45 mm 1.2 lens, I metered with my sekonic at 200 ISO and 1/200 shutter speed F2.5 about a meter and a half...that is plenty of power and i am coming from SB 800/910 which surprised me, i was expecting mush less . Keep up the great products coming i am into this system.

I don't use flash too often for my work and personal use, but the FL-700WR has been great so far. It's sufficiently powerful for my needs and has done everything I've asked of it thus far. I've used it to photograph people at events and for family photographs. The FL-700WR has worked very well when photographing captive birds and those in the wild. I recently ordered the FC-WR Wireless Flash Commander to further expand the functionality of my Fl-700WR flash. Once it arrives I will be doing flash with still life subjects. It is also great to know that the same weatherproofing on my E-M1X carries over to this flash.

After converting from Nikon to Olympus, I wanted a "native" set of speedlights for the sake of compatibility, to replace my SB-910 units, so I bought three FL-700WR units and the wireless controller. This flash system is easy to use and is very well constructed. A nice case is included with each speedlight. I shoot in manual mode, never in TTL, so I can't comment on that function of this system. I wish there was a connection so I could use them with Pocket Wizards, but a hot shoe adaptor which will allow me to do that is less than $10, so it's not a big problem.

The FL-700WR is a complete flash with lots of possibilities but also easy to use. Very nice results. I am very impressed with Olympus products, their technology and built quality.

Very powerful, I think the guide number is conservative.

The high-intensity FL-700WR boasts a guide number of 42 meters (at ISO 100) and covers a wide range of focal lengths with an electronic zoom head. A built-in wide panel enables you to use wider focal length lenses and have perfect coverage, and a catchlight panel illuminates your portrait subjects’ eyes effortlessly.
The FL-700WR boasts dust and splashproof construction that perfectly complements weatherproof OM-D camera bodies and all M.Zuiko PRO lenses. An IPX1 rating gives you peace of mind when shooting extreme conditions like a driving rain or heavy snow.
Integrated Wireles Radiowave functionality allows the FL-700WR to act as a flash commander or receiver* with full TTL capability. Up to 3 channels of unlimited flash units can be fully synchronized to create stunning lighting setups at a distance of 30m – no line-of-sight required!
* Using E-M1X or E-M1 Mark II
The built-in 1.5w LED light in the FL-700WR is a useful tool as both a continuous source for video shooting and as a focus assist light when shooting stills. One-touch on/off control lets you quickly access 100 Lux power (at 1m) when you find yourself in a low-light situation.
When paired with the OM-D E-M1X or E-M1 Mark II camera body, the FL-700WR becomes a sequential shooting powerhouse. The flash fires continuously at 10 frames per second for 50 shots at 1/16 power* and state-of-the-art charging circuitry enables the FL-700WR to recycle in just 1.5 seconds2 when shooting sequentially, so you’re always assured of getting the shot.
Multi Mode1,3 allows you to capture movement in your photos, by firing the flash multiple times during one exposure, further enhancing your creative control.
