Very good point and shoot flash

Good fill flash, surprisingly powerful for it's size. Also can be used as a trigger for the remote flashes. I was skeptical at first, but impressed after use. It does sit a bit too close to the camera, so it produces red eye and can show a shadow from a physically longer lens. It is perfect for point and shoot photography and in no way a replacement for the higher end flashes. It is perfect for what it is designed to be.

Identical to the FL-LM1

Despite the more complete specs, this strobe is functionally identical to the FL-LM1. (I have the E-PL5 and E-M1 bodies, and they each came with one) There are minor cosmetic/physical differences. The FL-LM1 is a bit thicker in the hotshoe, and can be a bit snug sliding into the E-M1, but once you get it in, it works. The FL-LM2 is a few mm farther forward, which helps reduce shadow from wide angle lenses. If you shoot underwater, you need to use the one that came with your camera, or else the fibers won't line up. Everywhere else it doesn't matter. Coverage angle is wide and uniform. I tried it with the (very nice) 12mm f/2.0 lens, outdoors, and only saw a slight fall off at the edges. Indoors, there will be enough light bouncing off walls to get acceptably uniform illumination. It's not super powerful, but at f/2.0 and ISO 800 it will have no trouble lighting up the side of a 2 story house! Closer in, where depth of field matters, you can stop down and/or turn down the ISO. Anything longer than 12mm should be very uniform, but longer lenses will only use a smaller and smaller piece at the center of the light 'puddle'. I've used it with the 45mm or 75mm f/1.8 to take decent indoor portraits from 20' away. It's a waste of light, but it works. Of course, with a crappy lens like the 14-42 kit zoom, this strobe will appear wimpy. In that case you could get a monster strobe that uses 4 AAs & is as big as your camera body, but you might consider retiring the kit zoom instead.... This strobe is terrible with the f/1.8 fisheye. But that thing is so wide, I can't think of any strobe that would be agreeable, except maybe a swivel head that bounces off a white wall behind you.

Good For Fill

Not the most powerful flash but compact, light and good for fill. I use it on PM1, PM2, PL/7 and OMD EM-5. It does use the camera battery so it will reduce the number of shots you get from the battery in the camera. It does not clear some of the lens hoods so you have to remember to take the hood off to avoid spoiling the shot or use a different flash that is taller. It does not pivot to bounce, but for a small, light flash to carry its useful when you need it and you don't; have a taller one.

Great for a compact flash

I thought a flash this tiny would be worthless, but it actually works really well for average indoor shots and outside as a fill flash. The flip-up to operate is a handy feature, as you can easily turn it on and off just by tilting it up or down. It has worked so well for me for the past year that I haven't spent the money or time to find another flash for my camera. It operates off of the camera's battery, so you don't have to worry about carrying or charging another battery for the flash. A great little flash!

Small but flimsy

Odd push in lock and flip up . Works great for tight rooms / kid photos . Mine died in 300 photo , all my other old strobe junk from the 70s still works . Just sayin

It is what it is.

I got this for a back up since I do u/w photography. Marginal power and fiddly.
