best lenscap for olympus xz-2
I use this lens cap as a replacement for thr lens cap that came with the camera. It is great.. I don't have to fiddle with the normal lens cap. It deplays automatically and doesn't interfere with the operation of the camera (olympus xz-2)

a must have
This is so much more convenient than the cap that comes with the XZ-1 and XZ-2. The product itself is perfect but I deducted a star for Olympus not including it with the camera.

Works on Olympus XZ-2 camera as well
I bought this lens cap for my Olympus XZ-2, which has the same lens as the XZ-1. It works very well. It screws into the threads inside the widest part of the lens and opens automatically when the lens extends and closes automatically when the lens collapses. The entire lens mechanism is protected by the cap when closed. And it is very unobtrusive when open. There are very small gaps between the petals of the cap when closed, so it might allow a small amount of dust in if in a very dusty environment. I actually like this much better than the internal lens covers that come on most point and shoot cameras. Well done Olympus!

Lens cap fits perfectly
Easy to attach. Fits perfectly. Makes the camera much more usable--you don't have to remove the cap everytime you use it. Bit expensive, but worth it in the long run.

Must Have for XZ-1 or XZ-2
This lens cap is essential for your XZ-1 or XZ-2. The original lens cap for both the XZ-1 and XZ-2 is a simple push on type that falls off when the camera is turned on and the lens extends. This lens cap protects your lens when the camera is off, but never falls off.
You can buy similar lens caps on auction sites that are cheaper than this one, but they are substantially bulkier (I know this from experience). This lens cap adds only the slightest length to the lens.
Final note: I use this on a XZ-2. Even though it says that it's for the XZ-1, the XZ-2 shares the same lens, so *any* accessory for the XZ-1 lens (*not* the body!) works just fine on the XZ-2.

Excellent Lens Cap for the XZ-1
Very nice lens cap. The original push on cap was fine, but sometimes inconvenient. This self-opening/closing cap works great. Easy to install and it automatically opens and closes when the lens extends or retracts. Would have been nice if Olympus included this with the XZ-1 versus making it an expensive add-on. Still, definitely worth having. Giving it 5 stars though I should deduct one due to the price.

Much better than the $5 knockoff I had
Like a lot of other XZ-1 owners, I got tired of taking the separate lens cap off to use the camera and putting it back on afterward. I also worried that, when I had the camera in my pocket, the cap might come off and the lens could be scratched.
A short time ago, I bought a "self closing" lens cap for a few dollars from a general merchandise retailer. That cap had two problems: (1) it was more than twice as thick as this Olympus cap, making the camera a tight fit in the pouch where I often carry it, and (2) its collapsible cover had three leaves, which stuck out beyond the lens when open.
The Olympus LC-63A is less than half the thickness of the other cap I bought,so it fits both the case and my pocket. The cover has four leaves, which can therefore be shorter and still fully cover the lens. When the lens is open, the leaves lie snugly against the lens barrel and do not protrude beyond it as the other cap did.
Result: I paid four times the price, but got a much better product. It's easy to use; unscrew the old lens cap, throw it away, screw on the new cap. Camera off = cover closed, camera on = cover open, all automatically!
