It works just like advertised. Clicks on securely and best of all you don?t have to remove to store it. Simply slide it back, put your lens cap on and you are done. If you have an Olympus 60mm macro lens, I definitely recommend purchasing this lens hood. You won?t regret it.

Very pricy expensive hood that should have been on the lens gratis. Once you put it on then its almost as good as the ones made by nikon on there 135 pre ais telphoto 2.8 lens. That hood locked in the extended position by a 1/4 turn thread scheme. They were prone to sticking and people kind of hated it but it was a neat bit of tech. Maybe the Oly is superior, you just slide it out it is snug does not wobble when extending and stays in place when extended or retracted. Cant complain about something that works as it should even though I just did. Maybe oly is reasoning folks that use this lens in a lab or studion can control the light and would never use the hood anyway..

I like having this hood for all the reasons hoods are useful. I like that it retracts over lens — although feels a bit fragile. I’m marking it down a Star because it’s so damned irritating that Olympus charges extra for it!

The quality of the hood is good but the price is not. You would think as long as this lens has been made that Olympus could offer it at say $ This why I did not give it a higher rating. I am not the only one who has complained about the over pricing of this item. i would think Olympus would do themselves a favor if they included this with the purchase of the lens and adjusted the price in the lens price.

This firm plastic hood works very nicely on my M.Zuiko 60mm Macro. It adds little to the size of this rather small diameter lens, while protecting most of it when fully retracted. I like that it operates with a straight push-pull motion, w/o needing to be unlocked first, and the motion is nicely damped, firm enough to hold any intermediate position, yet moves smoothly. When fully retracted, the stock side-pinch lens cap can be easily attached & removed from the B+W XS-Pro UV filter that is always on. The hood will clear a B+W XS-Pro HTC-POL when extended, but won't quite clear a B+W XS-Pro Digital ND Vario (1-5 stop) filter. Considering all this, I'd say it's worth the cost, even if maybe a bit high.

A lot of money for this. But save your cash and just buy this one first. It works like you'd want it to. Durable too!

Its a good design for the 60mm macro, and the fact that it slides back down the lens out of the way, means I tend to use it as a adjustable lens hood in the field. In the fully stowed position it covers the focusing ring, which, I can see could aggravate some people, but it hasn't bothered me yet. Why 4 stars? Olympus should include it with the lens, and it is over priced for what it is. Not essential, but still nice to have, so still "Recommended".
