Excellent Lens Hood for Zuiko 12-40mm f/2.8 Zoom Lens
My original lens hood ended up swimming in a creek at the bottom of a ravine in Joyce Kilmer National Forest. The sad loss was due to an error on my part, not a problem with the hood which had given me years of great service. Fortunately, Adorama was able to send a replacement to me within days that is identical to my original. I look forward to continued good service from this sturdy little hood.

Works perfectly but not well made
I've gone through a couple of these. They work well enough, but they are fragile. I think I'm going to get an off brand hood to compare it against.

Works as well as orginal - access door is tricky
This is a good replacement for the original 12-40 Pro lens shade. It is plastic verses the original's metal, but it has not yet fallen apart on my like the original did. I fits well and was half the price of the original. The access door is a nice idea that was a bonus for me, but I wouldn't consider that a selling point by any means. When you pop it out it does just that and you have to be careful not to loose it. It is easier to just remove the lens shade than the access door. What I have done is put the access on the bottom so that light coming in thru it is less likely to have an affect and then leave it open.

Cheap plastic
Fell apart completely in less than one year. Had trash it.

overpriced piece of plastic
OK, you need a lens hood, but this one is overly complicated and overpriced. To make matters worse, the fancy lock mechanism is prone to failure and makes the hood fall off.

Definitely worth it
Very nice lens hood. Metal and plastic construction that has one main drawback - easily dislodged by a bump and metal exterior prone to dent from knock. Attractive design and works to keep flairs under control. Lost original on trail when banged on something hiking down trail.
