This product is easy to use, light, and compact when folded. Coverage is adequate for macro photography. It does not give out much light. With no other light source, exposure at ISO 200 is f6 1/80 for a Zuiko 12-50 mm lens in macro mode at closest distance. This limits its usefulness for hand-held photos. I would rate it higher if it were brighter.

Very handy macro light. Powers off of the camera, so no need for an external battery pack. Very light-weight, easy to carry in your camera bag. The light output isn't going to break any records, but that's not what this is for. If you need more light, then you would lose the portability.

I use the Macro Arm Light on my Pen E-PL5 for fill-in lighting in close-up shots. For the price, the MAL-1 is an absolute winner. I particularly like the ability to control two settings (hi and lo)for each light.

Very good for shooting small objects. i use mostly as secondary light to light up the corners. But the arms are a bit too easy to change position if you accidentally bump the camera a little. Overall I'll say this is one of the cheapest lighting solution if you are looking for shooting small objects

In theory.this is a good idea, but the actual product is just ok. The arms won't stay set where you place them and you have to be especially conscious of them showing the photos. The amount of light and the ability to eliminate shadows is definitely a plus. The unit is lightweight and easy to carry and install, another a plus. If the covering sheath could be made a little stiffer so that once you get the arms exactly where you want them and they stayed, the unit would move up to four to five stars.
