OM5 Mk2 Camera review. The short version is that I have come to Love this little Camera. I will attempt to clarify this based on my four month adventure. You can cut to the chase by simply going to the likes and dislikes section below. There was an awful lot to consider as I made the transition from my DSLR to a mirrorless camera. One of the hardest points was the choice between a Crop Sensor and Full Frame Camera. This boiled down to the question of which style of camera would be the most practical for my shooting style and still give me a good result. Based on patterns developed while shooting with my DSLR I felt that the smaller more portable micro four thirds format would be a better fit. If there is an inescapable fact it is that the intuitive nature of any device, diminishes as its capabilities go up. I don't care what they say, that is just reality based on my experience, and so it is with this amazing little Camera. The saving grace here is that it has very a very sophisticated auto function and the transition to shooting in Aperture was relatively straightforward. The fact that the two hundred page manual that came with the Camera had only seventeen pages in English was laughable! I am old fashioned and I really need a tangible book rather than some on line masterpiece so I began my search for written guidance. Being a relative new Camera, it was difficult to find any current publications Directly related to this specific Camera (there are variations of the OM5 that are configured differently so you need to make sure it is relevant to your model). My first stop at Amazon produced a very generalized AI document that had no illustrations and was too general to be any of use. Then a fellow Camera Buff that is a dedicated OM photographer recommended a site where I could order a detailed Manual for my model of Camera. It took a while, since it came from England, however it did not disappoint. It arrived as two volumes with over five hundred pages with illustrations. Now I have the opposite problem with more information than this old Brain could ever hope to digest. So I have bored you long enough, here are the likes and dislikes: Likes Smaller size and weight makes this ideal for traveling. The 14 to 150 mm lens meets the nearly all of my requirements. 150 mm has quite a reach when you factor in the Sensor size. This Camera is actually weather sealed (a surprising number of up scale Cameras are not). The image stabilization works extremely well. Shooting in Aperture Control was an easy transition. Controls were well laid out and easy to use. The Super Control Panel is amazing once you figure it out. Menus are well laid out, just there is a lot going on in there. Oh by the way, it takes some outstanding Pictures. Advanced features are easily accessible since they have there own button. Dislikes Battery life could be better (small camera, small battery, I get that). Just cary a spare. Not a fan of, in Camera Charging. You need an extra Battery anyway, get a charger also. The supplied Camera book is a Joke! Focus Stacking is not available with my particular Lens. Low light photography is more challenging but doable.
