I haven't used it much due to having major surgery right after purchase. But I also have a Z980 that I have used for a year and the SP-590 blows it away in ALL respects.

really great camera[...] only negatives i found was lens cap needs be more secure,strap really flimsy(used one from my old camera)and you need magnifying glass to read instruction manual.lucky for me it was so easy to use straight from the box.

The versatality of the camera is amazing. It has all the bells and whistles of a DSLR but in a compact form. I purchased my camera in Nov. 2009 and since have been having alot of fun. It is user friendly. The zoom setting, sunset, micro, super micro settings are impressive. I am most happiest with the camera's weight, less than half the weight of my 35mm gear( Olympus OM 1 + 3 lenses) I would suggest you use mAh rechargeable batteries. Regular batteries have a short life span. I would recommend this product to others

The zoom of my previous olympus U 60 was similar to the dslr's this camera has a mechanism with a knob that is not easy to get the frame you want.

I purchased the camera before heading off to eight countries and twenty cities in Europe. I had other cameras with me, but this camera quickly became my favorite. Clarity was exceptional on the zooom. Pulled in a helicopter hauling pieces to a mountaintop in Interlaken from 25 miles away. Tried it with another "up-scale" camera with similar zoom and could not make out the numbers on the helicopter. Picture quality and overall color exceptional for such a fun camera to use.

[...] I was not that impressed by the camera itself. The SCN function seems not to work that properly. All ready to go setting have LOST of noise on the pictures! Panorama setting takes too low quality pics! Expected a better toy than received!

Good photo quality with the 12 megapixels, easy to take hiking, with the image stabilization I can hand-hold it without worrying about the focus being off. The 26X lens power is awesome.
