I love the ability to use a telephoto lens with a point and shoot camera! This lens functions really good and is sharp. Also with the adapter came a lens cap, so now I can protect the lens on my tg-6. The only downside is it only really allows for a close up image from about 50 feet away, but as an addition to a camera that is designed for macro, definitely an accessory worth having.

I purchased this Teleconverter as well as the Fisheye to add versatility to the TG-5. Others mention the pinhole view.... this is not made to use except at full zoom giving what I believe is a 170mm equivalent. The good - it adds reach that is otherwise missing. It also accepts the 40.5 protective filter since it has threads on the front of the lens. The pack comes with a back cap and also the 40.5 lens cap. I purchased a spare lens cap so that I can keep one on the camera and one on the converter. If there is a downside it is that there is still not as much reach as I sometimes would like - but the 1.7x is certainly better than nothing and still watersealed.

This is good for extending the distance, but yes, there is a black ring if you are on a low zoom. Having this on the TG5 is nice with the push button changeout. I use it often. Good product.

Let me first say that I love the TG-4 and am contemplating upgrading to the TG-5. These are great cameras. The TCON-T01 lens itself performs as advertised and is well made, I've had great results with it although I don't find I use it anywhere near as often as the fisheye lens. The TG systems's biggest weakness is the CLA-T01 Adapter. This cheap piece of plastic is an anomaly in an otherwise well made eco-system, and in fact is a down right oxymoron in a camera lineup that is called 'tough'. Firstly the fact that it is plastic is ridiculous. This adapter should be made of metal or at least some form of more durable composite. I've had one crack through the radius already. But the worst thing about the CLA-T01 is the latching mechanism, or lack thereof. When you attach the lens using the adapter you screw the lens to the adapter which takes a turn and bit which is fine, then you align a white dot as many cameras, then twist and there is the faintest 'bump' that is supposed to secure the adapter. In reality the lens is being held by a thread. It is not secure at all. In time, and I mean maybe one or two months of occasional use, whatever little plastic 'bump' that is supposed to keep the adapter from twisting off the camera weakens and because the amount of revolution is so small the lens can pretty much just fall off the camera. You just can't trust it. I like to mount my TG-4 on a stick and take underwater shots or video with the fisheye lens but now the adapter has proved itself so flimsy I can't do that without fear that the slightest knock is going to bump the lens off and it'll sink to the bottom of the ocean. Olympus please design and make a much more robust replacement part. I realize it will be a design challenge to create a more secure adapter that fits your existing Tough cameras but your team is smart and I'm sure it can at least be improved on. Also this new replacement should be inexpensive because as it is the CLA-T01 is a liability. Otherwise I love this setup and would give my review 5 stars. But the CLA-T01 is so poor I feel it only really deserves 1 star.

Seems to be fine addition to TG-4 camera. Needs an adapter ring which comes with it, and it would have been better if one could leave the ring on all the time and have the included lens caps fit over the back of the lens with the ring attached.

This is a nice addition to the Olympus TG family of tough cameras. I have the TG-4 and like the other members it's telephoto capability is lacking. The TCON-T01 pretty much fills that gap. The fact that the lens is also waterproof is a big plus. Also easy to attach/detach to the camera body with the included adapter. The adapter ring can also hold filters like the Vivitar Series 1 pack of three filters.

This lens is well-built and goes on and off the camera easily with the adapter ring. I only wish it had more magnification.

This is an excellent accessory for the TG series. It attaches and detaches quickly and easily. It gives a nice little increase in magnification...it isn't a whole lot but for a waterproof, tough camera 7x magnification is amazing. You will need a small adapter ring to attach this lens to the camera. If you have a TG you should really consider getting this lens...i'm glad I did.

Easy to use, compact to handle, only some adjustement yo make in the camera menu to use it, but it,s Ok !! work great !! the only con is: the ratio of gain for a telephoto is not soo good, only 3x, For a panorama photo, you will see no gain at all !! please olympus, you can make thing better tham that !! If you can, i will buy it !!.................................................................................................................................................................

i recently purchased the TCON-T01 & CLA-T01 adapter for use on my new TG-4 camera. WOW i love this lens! the closeup images are sharp and crisp while the background is in a soft focus. long distance image capture is also a big deal for me and this lens just pulls things right up close! great product great company. the lens is well built and just as tough as the TG-4

I bought this lens for my TG-2 and now use it on my TG-3. It does a very good job but you really need a tripod when using it. I would give 5 stars for the lens but only 2 stars for the lens cover and the ring that you use to mount it onto the camera. The lens cover does a very poor job of staying on the lens and the ring that you mount it to the camera broke (cheap plastic) the second time I used it. I took a picture of a grain of sand in super macro mode and it turned out very nice. I've taken pictures of boats that are miles off the beach and they have turned out very nice as well.

I received both the lense and adapter today to use on my TG-3. I took several pictures and I was really amazed on how clear and crisp the pictures were. This is one very good quality lense. One thing I think needs to be more clear in the instructions is the fact you have to have your camera set in "P" mode before you can select the lense on the Accessories/ Conversion Lense page. Before I switched to "P" mode the Conversion Lense on the accessory page was greyed out.

No offense ,,, but I feel the three comments from the people who apparently used the tele attachment lens without reading the instructions, and saw only a little circle pic ... I feel these three comments should be deleted by Olympus, or by the original commenters. The simple fact is, this telephoto attachment is designed to be used at the telephoto setting of the camera's prime lens. Duh! When used at the camera's tele setting (about a 100 mm lens on a full-frame 35 mm camera) the tele attachment turns it into a beautiful, fast, approximately 135 mm telephoto equivalent. It makes for great photos and I love it.

I got the TG-2 & this lens for Christmas. I am used to putting on a lens and having a full screen view not the circle. When you zoom in, the circle goes away. I don't notice much difference between the regular zoom and the additional of the telephoto. While a really like the camera and it's overall toughness, I am disappointed with the telephoto lens.

Does not add much zoom capability at all, not at all worth the purchase price. All of the other accesses for the TG-3 (LG-1 light guide, FCON-T01 19mm fish eye lens converter) work GREAT!! This is the only one to stay away from.

I like how easily this lens fits to the TG-1 camera. The photos I have taken with it so far are great.

The adapter replaces the trim ring on the TG-2 and the fit is very snug. In fact, I have the adapter on the camera permanently and the trim ring is in my old camera parts bin. This allows me to attach the included lens cap for extra protection. It may be overkill since the TG-2 is already rugged but I like having an extra lens cap. The teleconverter screws on adds optical zoom. The camera looks like a DSLR with the TCON-T01 attached but will require a bigger camera case. I like that both the teleconverter and the adapter are sold as a unit.

I don't think SAH's review is valid as the telephoto accessory is meant to be used with the camer'as lens set at telephoto. There is no "small circle" when used according to the instructions that came with the accessory telephoto. It's a great little accessory to the great little camera. Suggest SAH's review be deleted, as it is misleading.

Not an ideal telephoto lens. They do not describe that this lens is a tiny circular zoom image of a single object surrounded by a blackout of everything in the background. If that's what u want great! I thought I was getting a normal telephoto lens! Used it once. Have a single pic I like and don't even carry it with me anymore. Please come out with a real telephoto attachment.

First, I find the TG-2 an amazing little point'n shoot. It works great for for most of how I like to shoot. -- Usually in the (full frame SLR equiv.) 28 mm, or 100 mm perspective, rarely any length in between. The tele adds to the package, as my favorite, full-frame SLR lens for portraits, etc. is a fast, 135mm that has pleasing perspective and also can soft-focus the background. It is surprisingly sharp and corrected, provided the TG-2 is zoomed out to the telephoto range. The TG-2 is not superior to my full-frame SLR, only because any viewing screen is inferior to a through the lens viewfinder, especially in bright light. However, a mentor told me long ago, the only camera that counts is the one you have on you when a photo opportunity presents itself ... and that's why I'm liking the pocketable TG-2 more every day.

The design of this lens is such that the field of view is becomes a small circle in the center of the original view window. You lose about 85% of the original view and any picture you take will have a large blacked out area that must be cropped. I don't think this is necessarily a defect but had I known this I would not have purchased the lens. Now I am out shipping costs simply because the web page fails to accurately describe the functionality of the lens.

The lens protector does not stick on one end and the lens does not lock onto the camera. It is a bit heavy- and needs a protective case. But it does add some versitility and zoom range to an excellent camera

I was amazed when this lens came. It originally wasn't what I expected. I was expecting more of a lens like a professional camera. However, this lens is amazing. It is an instant magnification to what you are looking at. It takes a little to get used to. You have to zoom it in or you will have a black outline around your photos. After you adjust to that, it zooms really well. The lens is heavy duty. I was amazed at how high quality it was. It comes with a lens cover and cover for the back of the lens.
