Used this for underwater photos. Very easy to use. Only problem, no cover for the lens.

The image quality is amazing on this camera. I also love the features that you can do with this camera without using photoshop to edit images.

It survived bike ride from Portland to San Fransico, snorkeling and shallow diving in the Caymans and has been dropped in the snow while skiing. Love the option to rinse it off and you dont panic if someone does drop it. Easy to use even if you don't read the manual.

This is a camera that gives nice photos out of water and in. Use the A setting and landscape for above ground and there a number of underwater settings to try as we'll. finally, the panoramic is neat , but you have to stay perfectly level as you pan. Very cool camera.

I am not a photography expert so I can't speak to the technical attributes of this camera. I river float and fresh water fish here in Virginia, and love snorkeling and surf fishing at the ocean. This camera is everything I wanted it to be. It is taking great pictures and like I said, I am a novice to photography. I really like the lens being in the middle rather than on the side like so many other waterproof cameras have chosen to do; your fingers don't get in the way as the natural way to hold the camera for me is both hands on the side gripping it, especially under water. It is really tough and is the only camera I need other than my Canon 60D.

Bravo to Olympus for upgrading their series of waterproof, freeze proof and crush proof cameras. I had the first generation which was unbearable to use (poor poor battery time, high lag time for startup and between shots, and poor poor performance in low light), BUT it was waterproof. I got the new TG-2 specifically for taking photos fly fishing. The fast 2.0 lens preforms well and even creates a slight bokeh. The video quality (1080p) is ample. The image quality does suffer in heavily backlit (with no flash) stills and video. The macro shots at f.20 are spectacular. It would be nice to see: • improved button controls. I found myself hitting the wrong button at the most inopportune time to get OUT of video playback and back to image roster. • the ability to SELECT a SEPARATE exposure point than focus point. • the ability to SELECT a focal point in ANY shooting mode. The only way to select a focus point OTHER than dead center is to go to SCENE mode which AUTOMATICALLY selects a point for you other than dead center. All in all I chose this over a GOPRO because it takes awesome stills AND video. Working on getting the fisheye lens and then adding a chest strap to give it GOPRO like qualities. The battery use on this TG-2 is awesome! I took about 10 1-3 min (HD 1080p) videos and 100 12MB stills and had 2/3 power left. Note I did not use a flash because with the fast 2.0 lens you hardly need the flash!

The Olympus TG-2 iHS Digital Camera (Black) is designed with the serious photographer in mind. In addition to its Shockproof (7ft/2.1m), Crushproof (220lbf/100kgf), Freezeproof (14deg.F/-10deg.C), Dustproof design, the TG-2 iHS dives deeper than ever before with an astounding waterproof depth rating of 50 feet (15m) without a housing. But don't be fooled, this camera's not only for the avid scuba diver, it's for active photographers who won't sacrifice image quality and performance. The TG-2 iHS is the only rugged camera on the market equipped with an ultra-bright, high-speed f2.0 lens, allowing you to capture dramatic low light and high-speed action shots.
Paired with a 12 megapixel BSI CMOS sensor and TruePic VI Image Processor that fuel Olympus' cutting-edge iHS Technology, you'll get amazing pro image quality and 1080p Full HD Videos in places that your DSLR camera just can't risk travelling. And with advanced functions like Aperture Priority mode, you'll have even more control to capture the exact images that you want! Added features like next generation GPS & e.Compass, a 3.0" OLED monitor, Linear PCM Stereo audio recording, High-Speed Sequential Shooting up to 60 frames per second, four underwater scene modes and two custom modes make this adventure cam stand out in the crowd! Looking for more? The TG-2 iHS is the only rugged camera to feature system expandability to put even more photographic control in your hands; use the telephoto converter lens to achieve even greater optical zoom range and artistic blur or the wide-angle fisheye lens for more expansive views, especially underwater. The completely waterproof system allows you to take your photography to places that your pro system can only dream of going.
The TG-2 iHS is the is the only rugged camera on the market to include an ultra-bright, high-speed f2.0 lens so you can capture scenes that were previously "impossible" with a point & shoot. This new lens strengthens the camera's shooting capabilities making high-quality images and blazing fast shutter speeds possible even when a flash cannot be used or when shooting fast action or in low light.
This 3.0", high-resolution OLED display (610K dots) provides excellent visibility outdoors enabling you to compose the perfect shot even in direct sunlight. And several protective coatings help to prevent scratches and cut down on reflective glare from bright lights and sun.
