Own two other Olympus cameras the SP UZ 800 and Pen Epl1 both camera have met my needs and produce great results. Needed or wanted a smaller size, waterproof, and tough camera and I found it in the Tough 860. Have just received and not had a lot of time to use it a this time but the video I have taken have turn out great. Thanks Olympus for I hope a grandchildren tough camera.

I bought the TG-860 specifically for its ability to go underwater for a series of dives in South Africa. Despite some rough treatment, I'm very pleased with the camera's performance and ability to take a few knocks and keep on producing very good pictures,. I also like the ability to control the camera with your smartphone, which allows "hands-off" picture capture. I will keep this as my primary camera for future trips.

So far I'm quite impress with the camera. The button on it is quite tight which mean they will not allow water or dirt in. It was really easy to set up. I'll update later once I've used it for a while. I was going to hold on with my purchase , but since I lost my other digital camera, I needed to find one fast. The 870 model was not available before end of March and I didn't want to wait that long. And this one fitted my budget.

I have taken some spectacular pictures with this camera using the wonderful super macro and underwater settings. However those are the only pros of the camera. The flip screen is sensitive and has failed twice in 8 months despite taking excellent care of the camera. No working screen renders the camera useless as one cannot toggle through the different settings, view the subjects they are trying to capture, review the pictures, ANYTHING! This is hardly deserving of a tough "Status". Stop focusing on the "selfie" modes and continue working on the durability of your cameras Olympus.

We purchased this camera to go on a swim with the Whale Sharks expedition in La Paz, Baja, Mexico. The camera performed very well. Was extremely easy to use and even easier to upload the photos to my smartphone via the WIFI settings that was very easy to set up! The only request would be to be able to make the flash be set to always on so it would be better deeper under water. This is in the settings but not something I can select currently. Great point and shot camera

I had a chance to take some underwater pictures of Sea Turtles in Maui over the holidays. they turned out great!! I also captured some brilliant sunsets and appreciated the Art filter for many shots. The camera is very compact and easy to use. The video button is very convenient for underwater use. This is my second Qlympus camera and both are perfect for my family's requirements. The Olympus software seems to work well for managing photos.

just got back from jamaica, got some great shots snorkeling!i am more of a free-diver than a floater so having the big screen 15-20 feet underwater is great! !there was another guest at the resort that had the same camera so we started talking.i had just used mine for the first time and was very happy with my pics,i asked him how he liked his and he told me that this was his 3rd waterproof camera and was the best one he had ever had! i agree!!

I wore out my Stylus 770 SW and wanted to replace it with a comparable camera. I looked at many similar cameras and always settled on the Olympus TG-860 when comparing the "apples to apples." The TG-860 fits my needs for an outdoors camera. I particularly like all the bells & whistles that can enhance my photographic efforts. And the black body just looks cool. I can't wait to give the camera a photo testing this weekend (exposure, the "toys" included, etc.) - an environmental testing will have to wait.

The specs on this camera are exactly what I was looking for when faced replacing my 5 year old Lumix TS2. The wide angle and 1080p60 are features not found on the more expensive TG-4, same with the flip screen. The camera will produce OK images in outdoors and if you combine a sunny day with ISO 125 setting you may get a few very good images. Indoors the images are too noisy. Dont get me wrong, this camera is a good value, very well built and designed, there's just something missing that makes it hard to get those very good pictures. Video is pretty good and I am happy to have this camera instead of having to carry a GoPro and a point and shoot. I hope that Olympus improves the image quality thru some firmware update.

I'm known to be a little rough on my Olympus cameras over the years. My last one got damaged when it fell off my kayak on the boat ramp so I decided to give this one a try when the technicians said the cost of repair wasn't worth repairing and provided me with a 20% credit at the store. I like the way it handles the outdoor elements and really like the sporty case with the carabiner and different strap mounts attached. The wide angle lens, two camera mounts, panorama and selfie settings are also very nice touches.

This camera has now joined my Olympus EM5 and EM1, because it is waterproof! At this price point, it's my favourite to buy considering the competitors (N, F, P, C) - to provide me the peace of mind when there is a chance that I could submerge it in water. What's to love? The histogram, Exposure Compensation, the camera menu system, sequential mode shooting, Sport Mode, Sweep Panorama, Art Filters, two shutter release buttons and tiltable LCD screen (which is absent in Olympus TG4). Amazing Point & Shoot in good light. I took one star away because the LCD screen does not tilt to allow me to take over-the-head shot. I prefer this to the LCD's selfie position since I am coming from Olympus EM1. May be Olympus will oblige in the future TG870. Enjoy on land (rain, snow) and in sea water environment (kayak, zodiac, snorkelling). Jamesa

First thing I tried is take a picture of a gold fish. The picture is beautiful and the camera still works. Then I tried all different settings and all was nice. The wifi connection to iPhone worked like a charm, though I had a few difficulties setting it up. I likethe fact that the selection wheel is a bit stiff. On my old Fuji the setting changed everytime I put it in my pocket. I am fully satisfied and I willrecommend highly.

I am disappointed with this camera as my expectations were too high I guess for the price I paid. The combination download/charging cable is poor quality as I have to wiggle it to a certain spot to get it to make connection. The picture quality is not good compared to pics taken with smartphones. I cannot get good clear pics except for close ups. And why can I not WiFi connect to my computer? Was this an oversight? I like the feel and durability but am disappointed in picture quality.

I love this camera. The flip screen for selfies is a great feature for my husband and I to get perfect pictures from out vacations. The WiFi feature is amazing, I love being able to load my pictures to my android. Very useful as well for using a tripod and taking group photos using my android as a remote. Waterproof is great! We do lots of camping and swimming and fishing. We are able to capture all our fun memories with no worries.

Love it! Everything from the feel to the convenience of the controls, to the pictures; and there are lots of options for your pictures. Have not as yet tried out underwater option but I do love the fact it is waterproof as I use it mostly when on the water fishing. Have used it in many varied light conditions and takes great pictures every time. I would highly recommend this camera. Bruce

Just got back from the Mayan from a wedding. I took pictures in every atmosphere I could come up with so I would see what this camera was capable of. I have the most amazing pictures of the wedding, relatives, excursions both in and out of the water, at night, during the day, you name it, it is there and the pictures turned out great. I was bragging about what the camera was expected to do and now that I see the results, I would recommend this one to anyone who likes to do a variety of activities in every environment. The only thing I was disappointed in was that I didn't buy the holder to film extreme videos as the zip line would have been the perfect place to utilize that device. I am very happy with my decision to purchase this product.

Good little camera. Only used it for about 2 weeks so far but it has done real well. It's sturdy and fits in my "big" hands comforatbly. Easy to operate. I have several DSLR's and wanted a compact camera that wouold be easy to take with me every time I go outside - this fits the bill exactly!

I think this one is finally the camera I have been waiting for! I mainly use it for hiking, skiing and rafting. I love the front button feature. I love the flip screen as I take a lot of flower pictures and it allows me to get the right view without laying on the ground! I love being able to upload directly to my IPhone with the wifi feature. I havent used it yet with the holder for action video but I anticipate it being so much easier than strapping my old ones. Crisp clear pictures and I think the slow motion playback is going to be fun!!

I bought this camera recently. It is a good tough camera but some things aren't what they are cracked up to be. The directional pad is hard to use, the sports mode isn't what I expected, the WiFi option only works with some smart phones (not blackberry) and is only for connecting to smart phones, not computers (why not?). All in all though if you want a tough camera for your adventures it's not a bad choice.

My original Olympus leaked and got some water in it the first day of our vacation so we had to rush out and get a replacement. The new TG-860 had just arrived and we picked it up based on how well our older version had performed (aside from the leak that killed it) and on the new features...flip screen makes selfies much easier..the panoramic works much better... the return to the wheel to change settings, the new Art mode, etc. We used it extensively during the trip to take underwater and general photos...the unit worked very. With some very impressive photos that would tax another camera. Only downside is that it still eats a lot of battery capacity when in film mode...luckily the battery is the same as previous models so we could re-use the old battery and keep on shooting. I would definitely recommend this camera over the other waterproof cameras.

I haven't found anything I dislike about the TG-860. My preferene would be to be able to turn off the frame on the viewfinder but that's minor.
