The biggest hang up is the f stop really isn't great. But it's less than $1000 and has stabilization. Definitely worth the money and a great entry level zoom.

It's fine by me. Nice and smooth zoom and does exactly what I need it to. This is my basic lens to get me through a good hike. Gives me the wide I need with the zoom when wanted - no fuss. I bought the kit with filters and am happy I did.

I use this lens with my GH5 as my go-to. Possibly the best quality lens I have ever used (in terms of image quality and build quality) the f2.8 is only at 12mm, so definitely keep this in mind when shooting at night.

I replaced a 12-35 f2.8 lens with this 12-60 f2.8-4.0 lens obtaining comparable picture quality. I like the additional zoom without adding much bulk.This product is highly recommended.Elmar

I love the sharpness of all the Leica lenses!!!! The versatility of this one makes me carry it with me always. From snapshots around the house, to a portrait session outside, to gorgeous scenery, this lens has helped me get some great moments captured beautifully. I'll probably die before I learn all the things this camera can do.

I was needing a lens that I can shoot with both indoors for events and outdoors for landscapes. This lens works perfectly for both on my G9! It also performs very well for video recording. I credit the sharp optics and the image stabilizers for the high performance values.

Billed as the high end still photographer's camera in micro 4/3, I am impressed with the focus speed, I personally have never had a camera so fast. This camera size combined with long lens would make for an enjoyable light weight Birder's camera set up, Panasonic makes the 200-400mm offering a whopping 16x magnification, yet your light weight, hand held and dual image stabilization. I am still learning some of the features but I would like some changes as a still landscape shooter. When in manual mode you want two things. You want to see presentation of scene brightness live in the viewfinder and and you want the hystogram to display the effective scene range as the settings are selected. Panasonic did not make reasonable. For every single shot, your finger to press a button on the front of the camera, not once, but even twice to get the camera to display visually what your current settings will result in your picture. Amazingly off the mark. Then they clutter up the display with shutter speed and aperture rows blocking you view with red bands suggesting that your going to be too far over exposed or underexposed with some shooting combinations. Okay, that's just silly, people that are shooting manual settings are doing so for creative control outside of the automation and light meter suggestions, so we don't see the effects of the setting selections and we can't view our subject with all the space used up by this design concept. Again the work around to to press a button twice in a row first, for every single manual exposure shot you are going to take. That's lame. Now one fearture that is useful for me is HDR in camera processing (only on jpeg). I have to shot some home interiors for a friend, and I will need to do a panorama stitch to capture more of the room. The In camera HDR feature means for each shot I can get a little better dynamic range as of Outside details also. The HDR feature for G9 is only 3 shots and not 5 shots, that should change.

I recently downsized from a Canon 5D Mk III to m4/3, but wanted to use as close to pro lenses as I could. Interestingly, this lens is about as sharp as the standard kit 12-60mm lens, but feels more solid and substantial. I was really more interested in the wider aperture, though for all practical purposes it may as well be a constant f4, since it's only a f2.8 around 24mm. This is a great walk-around lens when you want to travel light. I'm not entirely sure it is worth twice price of the standard 12-60, though, but the speed, sharpness and solid feel do warrant a premium (and then there's the Leica name...).

Wonderful lens - very sharp. I do a lot of travel photography and this will be a wonderful addition and will decrease the number of lens that I have to carry. I appreciate the whole Panasonic Lumix mirrorless system for its quality and light weight. Working with Leica has also increased the quality of the lenses.

Lens has above average build quality and balance. Zooming back and forth is very smooth and predictable. I can get a decent degree of subject isolation zoomed in. This helped by the sharpness and good bokeh of this lens. I have been shooting M43's for over 5 years. And have own Panasonic bodies in the past. The autofocus of lens can be a problem on non-native bodies. Tried the $ Panasonic version of this lens and it hunted way to much in certain lighting situations. Not the case with this lens. Panasonic linear autofocus so far keeps pace with Olympus MSC on Olympus bodies. This lens is totally usable on OMD EM 1 mark ii. Minus hybrid stabilization. Shooting action of my dog on overcast late day in a light snow storm with this lens was impressive. I also have Olympus 12-40 f2.8. I leaning on keeping both for different reasons.
