DONALD P : what lens hood works on this lens?DOUGLAS S : The lens hood that comes with it is H-FS14140.LONNIE B : It comes with a bayonet mounted hood. model number H-FS14140WEIMIN G : We purchased two and both work well.KATHLEEN P : The lens ships with a lens hood and lens pouch. The Panasonic lens hood is the H-FS14140.PETER V : The lens hood that comes with the lens is probably the best you can get for a stiff solid (non rubbery) lens hood. It is reversible so in the reverse position the lens does not extend very far beyond the front of the lensHENDRIK G : Lens is supplied with lens hood part # H-VS014140 that works well.PETER G : it comes with a lens hoodTURHAN C : Panasonic LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Pro Digital Lens HoodPHILIP D : I use the lens hood that came with my Panny G5JAMES S : I love the lens. My 4k videos are fantastic. Good reach too. The lens comes with the lens hood. Hope that helps.
Shopper : It seems that there is no zoom lock switch. Is there a zoom creep without that? especially with those straps that go in to tripod socket (like Joby sling strap)!ALEXEI S : No, there is no zoom creepPETER G : I have noticed very little zoom creep.this is a much improved version of the lensNANCY H : I also own the older version Panasonic Lumix G Vario HD 14-140mm f/4.0-5.8 ASPH./MEGA O.I.S. (bought it used), and there is also no lock switch but there is no zoom creep even I use a Joby sling strap on my Lumix GH3. The new 14-140mm f3.5-5.6 is even smaller and lighter than its older brother, and so there is no lens creep either. Unlike the Canon or Nikon 18-200mm which require a lock switch for they are large and heavy. All MFT system lenses are small and light but they are just as good if not better than the EFS or DX lenses.WEN-LI W : There is no zoom creep with this lens in any position. By the way this lens is far better than the old one, 14-140mm f/4.0-5.8. I just love it.
Shopper : does anyone know what is the estimated time that panasonic will let out the lens?ANDREW R : Estimated ship date Fall 2013

very good lens

I use it with GH2 body as one-size-fits-all traveling lens and it serves its purpose: lightweight, reasonably fast, versatile. I compared it with two other lenses: 12-35/f2.8 and 100-300/f4-5.6. As expected, AF it is a bit slower and picture is a bit fuzzier than for the first one (for both 14 and 35 mm zoom) but quality is the same as for the second one for zoom= 140mm. Besides, as with any other lenses, it is practically impossible to use it for video due to noticeable AF hunt.

Versatile, Compact 14-140mm Zoom

The lens is a bit heavy but makes it feel solid too. Manual zoom so no noise. I've gotten very sharp photos. Color seems accurate too.

Very Good for What It's Meant To Do

This lens is a superzoom with a focal length comparable to 28-280mm on a full size sensor. As such there is a tradeoff; weight and larger minimal aperatures vs convenience. The 14-140 is designed to be used on cameras capable of functioning very well at ISOs from 1600-6400 depending on the model its mounted on. This along with image stabilization makes it useful in many settings. It's great as an everyday lens. Teamed with a fast prime it is marvelous for travel. Indoors it works very well by itself at the higher ISOs and even better with flash. Video, you don't hear the motor when it focuses but the large aperature gets in the way unless you have extra lighting. That's where the fast prime would come in. That prime is also useful where no flash is allowed. From my understanding pros who are into mirrorless use this lens for their videos but they use extra lighting as well. Weight? It weighs about one pound. A superzoom of this range and construction from a major manufacturer on an APC or full sensor camera will weigh anywhere from 2.5 to almost 4 pounds. The images it helps to produce? On an electrical device (computer, smartphone, tablet) almost flawless. Printed, some grain at 16x20. If you're looking for pro quality, constant aperature speed and ease be prepared to spend $2500 for two lenses that together don't cover the focal length that this one does. If you're not ready to do that then really think about this one.

not good for video

is meant for photo not video, (i use it on panasonic af100) so it is kind of dark, and jerky to zoom, and the fact that has to extend is a bummer, sad part is supossed the best for my camera. hope panasonic makes some lenses meant for it.

love this lens

This is my carry around lens . I have a 1.7 25 for low light and a 45 macro for close-up. All these can be carried in a small bag.

Excellent walk-around lens

Got this to go along with my brand new Panasonic GX1 body. Yeah it's a bit on the slow side (gets above f5 by the time you get to 50mm), but as long as you're in good light this lens cannot be beaten in the general-purpose category. Plus, pair it with a Panasonic body and distortion & chromatic aberrations are automatically corrected in-camera even for RAW output. Expensive but a winner!

PANASONIC LUMIX G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 Power O.I.S, MICRO 4/3 LENS - BLACK

There’s a lot more that goes into a quality picture than just pointing a lens and shooting. Specifically, it takes a lens of the quality of PANASONIC Lumix G VARIO 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 POWER O.I.S MICRO 4/3 - BLACK. Not only is the design sophisticated, the power image stabilization and autofocus allow for smooth, consistent shots nearly every time.

Product Highlights

  • The Panasonic Power O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) takes a lot of the guesswork out of your photographs, acting as a virtual “portable tripod” that makes taking crisp, clear shots inevitable.
  • With 14 elements in 12 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses and 2 ED lenses, this Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm lens is a superstar at eliminating lens aberrations and minimizing chromatic aberrations, ghosting and flare. (Don’t worry – it will enhance your flair!)
  • The Internal Focusing system offers smooth and silent focusing for both video and photo capture, even when you’re running high-speed shooting of up to 240 fps.

Smooth, quick and crisp enough to handle just about any picture opportunity you can throw at it, the Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 is a worthy addition to any Micro Four Thirds lens mount—and, heck, you might want to consider getting such a mount just to procure one of these Panasonic lenses.

Learn about the PANASONIC LUMIX G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 Power O.I.S, MICRO 4/3 LENS - BLACK

The Micro Four Thirds lens mount is like a window into the world—and with compatible lenses like the PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 POWER O.I.S. MICRO 4/3 - BLACK, it’s no wonder. This lens is smooth and sophisticated, handling just about any kind of shot you want to throw at it thanks to a wide angle-to-telephoto zoom range that’s equivalent to 28-280mm in 35mm format. But there’s more to the story of lenses that we like to tell here at Adorama—certainly more than just the flexible angles from which you can view the world. There’s an underlying quality of design to this lens that helps reduce chromatic aberrations and increase the consistency of each photograph. That’s no mistake. Every detail, from the two ED glass elements to the Power Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.), goes into making this a lens that can take your eyes around the world and back without bungling any one of a wide range of photo types. Sound too good to be true? Here’s how the Panasonic 14-140 micro four-thirds lens pulls it off:

Product Highlights

  • We can’t go very far without mentioning the Power Optical Image Stabilizer (Panasonic OIS). Image stabilization is key when you’re talking about a lens with this kind of flexibility between shots. If you’re going to take consistent photographs, you’re going to need stabilization that backs it up. Well, the OIS here does that and more, aiding you in each shot’s consistency while offering a level of clarity and precision that’s tough to equal throughout the world of premier lenses.
  • Smooth, silent focusing is essential to anyone who takes his lenses seriously—and the Panasonic 14-140 delivers. Of course, many lenses have their own ways of accomplishing this—for this Panasonic, an internal focusing system lets you focus without having to worry about the lens size itself, and a stepping motor offers smooth and silent focusing in both photo and video modes. That means you can freely move between capturing stills as well as live footage without having to worry about how your next shot will focus.
  • High-speed shooting takes advantage of all this wonderful autofocusing, because the Panasonic Lumix 14-140mm lens supports shooting up to 240 fps (with compatible cameras). Of course, a consistent, smooth autofocus is needed to maintain image integrity at frame rates of this speed, and you already know that this lens delivers. Feel free to take high-quality footage at absurdly high frame rates without worrying whether your shot will appear sluggish or out of focus.
  • Quality construction and design brings it all together, thanks to 14 elements in 12 groups, including 3 aspherical lenses and 2 ED lenses. If you wonder how your Panasonic 14-140 achieves such stunning, high-contrast photos with minimal chromatic aberrations, it’s because of this quality design, inside and outside the device.
  • Lightweight and easy to carry, coming it at 9.35 ounces minus the lens cap and lens rear cap, the Panasonic 14-140 is an easy addition to your toolbox of lenses. Because it’s interchangeable with the Micro Four Thirds lens mount, you can easily create a veritable portable studio for yourself, featuring lenses like this Panasonic Lumix zoom lens. You won’t add a lot of weight or bulk to your carrying cases and you’ll be free to move around a professional gig with ease.

Whether you’re looking to add to your Micro Four Thirds lens series or making your first investment, there are few lenses at Adorama that more warrant your consideration than the PANASONIC Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 POWER O.I.S. MICRO 4/3 - BLACK.

From the Manufacturer
The Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 Power O.I.S. Lens (Black) is a wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens compatible with cameras featuring the Micro Four Thirds lens mount. Its 14-140mm focal length is equivalent to 28-280mm in 35mm format and provides a 75-8.8deg. angle of view. The Power Optical Image Stabilizer (O.I.S.) keeps your images free of blur, even if your hands are unsteady, by compensating for camera shake twice as effectively as MEGA O.I.S.

The lens contains three aspherical elements to eliminate coma and other types of lens aberration and two ED glass elements to enhance sharpness and color correction by minimizing chromatic aberration. Multi-coated lens elements minimize ghosting and flare. The Internal Focusing system lets you focus without altering the size of the lens, enabling a closer minimum focusing distance of 0.98' at the widest focal lengths (14-21mm) and 1.64' at 22-140mm.

Additionally, the lens utilizes a stepping motor to enable smooth, silent focusing during both photo and video capture. The circular aperture diaphragm features seven blades that create visually pleasing bokeh in the out-of-focus regions of the image. When used with certain compatible cameras, including the DMC-GH3/G6, the lens supports high-speed shooting at up to 240 fps to take advantage of contrast AF.

The 14-140mm f/3.5-5.6 is compact and lightweight, with a 67mm diameter and an overall length of 2.95", but features a durable metal mount. It accepts 58mm filters. Supplied with the lens are front and rear caps, a lens hood for blocking out unwanted light and a convenient storage bag.
