Virginia S : Do I need a lens adapter for the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K Body MFT Lens Mount and this Panasonic Lumix 14-45?Gregory V : That camera and lens both have a native MFT interface (Micro Four Thirds), so no adapter needed.
Shopper : Does this lens come with a lens hood?RALPH M : Mine did.KEVIN D : mine didIKCHUL U : Yes, the lens comes with a lens hood.
RONALD B : will this mount directly on Olympus omd em5 and pen 2, will all features be usable ?FLOYD O : Since I do not use or own the Olympus bodies I suggest that you contact Panasonic. I do know the lens will fit on those cameras I do not know what features those bodies offer.ELLIOT C : Yes, I have the Lumix G Vario 14-45mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH / MEGA O.I.S. for M4/3 mounts systems. No... I do not have the OLY OM-D E-M1 body, but I wish I did. The Lumix 14-45 short zoom is a really fine lens, far better than the Lumix kit lens 14-42. You should really ask Olympus customer service. The lens should fit, as the 2 companies worked together on the development of the M 4/3 system. Haven't heard of any cross platform issues between lenses from either company and the lens mount system. I'd go to the source or the tech support people at Adorama. They should have this info at their fingertips. But... I do see an OLY OM-d E-M1 body in my near future, but would not give up my Lumix G5 body at all. Hope this helps and sends you to the right people.Bernard K : Wonderful every day, come what may lens. I have it in on all my 4/3 micro cameras: Panasonic GF1. Olympus OMD 5 & ! and Pen EP-5. Would not want to be without it.TIM W : Yes it will. Same mountPATRICK T : Yes it mounts on the EM5. But you do not need to use OIS because the EM5 has better Stabilization. And you cannot turn both on at the same time.IKCHUL U : Yes, it will directly mount to Olympus bodies you mentioned above. Yes, all features will be usable too.

Good Lens

Goes wide to tight with a smooth action and tends to be a good all around lens.

Great zoom sharp as tack and light weight

Maybe one of the best zooms I have ever had in my over 20 years in photography - beats all the other micro four standard zooms Stays on the camera very often

Very sharp and contrasty, handles well.

I use Olympus OM-D cameras and wasn't happy with my kit zoom lens. I saw a lot of online recommendations for this lens, so decided to give it a try. It's an older lens, bigger than the newer zooms covering the 14-42mm range. The zoom ring is large, rubbery, and tactile. I wouldn't say it sticks, but its action does have a cheapness to it - perhaps owing to the plastic materials, which are noisy and not particularly smooth. The manual focus ring is very good - tight and smooth, though not silent. The image quality is excellent. At 14mm, it seems sharpest at f/4. At longer focal lengths, I find sharpness peaks at f/5.6-f/8. It can be just a bit sharper than the 14mm f/2.5 prime, particularly at the edges - though not always. I've compared a lot of images and generally prefer the prime at 14mm. The 14-45 produces images with a lot of microcontrast, but sometimes to the point that very fine details are not resolved as clearly as I'd like. (Black details on a white background can look a bit fat.) The problem is minimized with good light and an electronic shutter. I do not use the in-lens stabilization, so cannot fairly comment about it.

Lumix 14-45

I have a few APS-C bodies, and a full frame Nikon... And a mix of consumer and pro lenses to go with them. The 14-45 isn't pro level, and the aperture is on the slow side, but the results are pretty darn good for a "kit lens".

Cheap

I bought this lens because I needed something wide. It still not as wide as I would like. The build quality is nowhere near that of the HD lenses. It's plastic with a sticky zoom.

Better Kit Lens

This lens is FAR superior to the 14-42mm "kit" lens now supplied with Panasonic Lumix cameras. I was giving my Grandson my Lumix GX1 to start him off and needed a lens for it. I tried an very clean Lumix 14-42mm but the zoom action was so sticky & jerky it was almost unusable even for stills. On my own cameras I replaced the 14-42 I had with one of these Lumix 14-45mm and those (being metal construction rather than plastic) are much smoother. This one, ordered from Adorama, "filled the bill".

Do NOT confuse with present 14-42

While both this (14-45) and the 14-42 were first issued as kit lenses and neither would be considered prime, recall that the only "kit" this lens was ever on was an original G. It is, in my opinion, a far superior zoom for this range and my GX7 loves it. BTW, I kinda' like it as well.

fine performer

Quick, fun to use lens, gets the results, fast focus, capable of even poetic, fascinating images. The only limit is what you can do as a photographer.

Should Have been my G3 stock lens

While back I had bought the kit of the Panasonic G3(Brown), which included the 14-42mm as a stock lens & Included the 45-200mm with it. Photos and video were just somewhat average with the 14-12mm, but compared to some things with the 45-200mm I noticed a number of things in terms of color quality, field of view, better image stablization, and autofocus response. I'm very glad I bought the new 14-45mm, not only the super fast autofocus, there's the rich vibrant color quality, much better steady shots, great depth in the field of view, a lot more durable with the metal locking ring than compared to the plastic one on the 14-42mm, and it's a lot more compact than the 14-42. This 14-45mm should have been the stock wide-angle zoom lens included with the kit to begin with.

PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 14-45MM f/3.5-5.6 MICRO 4/3

A standard zoom lens doesn’t have to mean that your photos are limited to a standard quality. The PANASONIC 14-45MM F/3.5-5.6 MICRO 4/3 lens is proof of that, offering advanced technology to support its stunning images:

Product Highlights

  • The MEGA O.I.S., Panasonic’s advanced Optical Image Stabilizer technology, does it all to keep blurring at bay while you’re focusing on each subject.
  • 1 aspherical lens, a 7-blade circular aperture diaphragm, and an autofocus that supports you? Yes, this Panasonic 14-45mm lens is as beautiful on the inside as it is on the outside.
  • The multi-coated lens elements will reduce ghosting and flaring, ensuring maximum “crispness” with each shot.

Acquire a Panasonic 14-45mm lens to up not just your “standard zoom” game, but your photography in general.

Learn about the PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 14-45MM f/3.5-5.6 MICRO 4/3

It’s not a crime to want a lot out of your standard zoom lens. Want it to be Micro Four Thirds system-compatible? Want its zoom range to handle a variety of subjects, from portraits to landscapes to live events? Want an aspherical lens element to minimize distortion no matter what precise focal length you’re utilizing? Want fast autofocus, which precisely tracks your subject and adjusts automatically, with minimal fuss? At Adorama, we don’t think it’s too much to ask out of a lens, particularly if you’re talking about the PANASONIC LUMIX G VARIO 14-45MM f/3.5-5.6 MICRO 4/3 lens. This Micro Four Thirds-compatible lens is a Lumix lens with some serious capability, offering the versatility of a standard zoom with the quality that comes with good glass. Here’s how:

  • Smooth, crisp images. That’s thanks to Panasonic’s MEGA O.I.S. Optical Image Stabilizer which helps keep your photos sharp even when you’re hand-holding your camera and feeling a little shaky or weak in the knees. This will help ensure quality images even when you’re not at your best, or just being emotional, like when you were shooting your favorite cousin’s wedding. (You know you cried.) That’s steadiness you can appreciate in both time and space.
  • Let’s talk weight. It’s not a major concern for some photographers, but experienced peeps know that a lightweight lens is an absolute necessity the more you add to your mobile photography wares. With the Panasonic 14-45mm lens, we’re talking about a compact size of only 2.36” and a mere 6.88 ounces of weight, which translates to 195 grams for you metric folks. That’s enough traveling capability to make even the most mobile of vagabonds blush.
  • Designed to be standard to the Micro Four Thirds System, this Panasonic 14-45mm lens is also compatible with a number of cameras, which means it adds even more hardware versatility to its already versatile nature. If you already have a Panasonic camera body in the Micro Four Thirds System—or any other camera, for that matter – you can easily hook up this lens and get to shooting without missing a beat.
  • Interior design usually refers to living rooms, but what about the design of this interior? We’re talking multi-coated lens elements reducing ghosts and flare, an aspherical lens that reduces aberration and general yuckiness, and a 7-blade circular aperture diaphragm that will make out-of-focus areas look smooth and soft. That corrects a heck of a lot of flaws, even for professional and seasoned photographers.
  • We at Adorama mentioned it in the intro, but we have to talk about the MEGA O.I.S., Panasonic’s advanced Optical Image Stabilizer Technology. It gives you the freedom to shoot far-off subjects without worrying about blurring and other aberrations. If only life came with an advanced stabilizer technology.

Standard zoom, but not standard quality: the PANASONIC 14-45MM F/3.5-5.6 MICRO 4/3 lens is an all-in-one type of lens that will give you the freedom photograph just about whatever you want and still expect stunning results.
