Still One of the Best

Purchased for my husband. His verdict :"Outstanding character and resolution. Beautiful rendering in either color or black & white." See samples of his work with this lens.

Sharp as a tack wide open

This lens is for sure going to change the quality of our production. It is super sharp wide open and has the best "creamy" bokeh out of all my lens. If you want to "up" your production game, I will highly recommend this precious diamond!!

Great Lens for Video

I bought this lens for shooting videos and I'm absolutely in love with the quality of this little guy. The build quality is heavy and firm and gives me confidence in the durability of the lens. The only thing I have had issues with is the lens cap popping off and cracking on the ground... I'm in the middle of trying to get a replacement lens cap. But the glass and focus reel are absolutely top grade. Just be careful with the cap, and you'll stay in love with this camera!

Sharp and Fast, but...

This lens is quite good. Rather sharp, focuses well. Build nicely. I like the feel of the focus ring more than my Pany 12-35. But I would say, it isn't quite as fantastic as some have made it sound. It's a solid lens with good image quality, but it doesn't blow my mind. The focus is quick, but not as quick as I thought it would be based on other reviews.

Great Lens

This was my first prime lens, and I am amazed at the sharpness and low-light capability of this product. It also does really well with video in low light during family functions.

fastest lens I own.

A week after the purchase of the 25mm f/1.4 Panasonic/Leica lens I took a trip to Chicago and this was the only lens that I took. Now I would never tell someone who hadn't used a lens before to rely on a brand new item of equipment, but that is just what I did. It was my first trip to Chicago so it was important for this to work and boy did it. We rode around on a double decker touring bus, and I shot from the upper deck. The shots came out great and I was very happy with the purchase. When we went to an art museum it did well in the dim lighting. One photo I took of a man looking at one of the paintings turned out to be one of the best photos I have ever taken and I have been shooting since 1959. I would have missed the shot if this lens hadn't been able to lock on focus the moment I pressed the shutter. The subject was there and then the blink of an eye it was gone. I saw the photo, I took the photo and then the subject moved on. Any other lens and I might not have gotten the image. This lens is fast focusing and tack sharp.

Great Lens for Micro Four Third System

I bought this lens to use with my Lumix GF7. This does produce very nice quality picture. I love the effect of blur background with focus on the object and this lens help me does all that. At 25mm it is great to take portrait as well. I would totally recommend this product.

Best prime for micro 4/3

I've tried quite a few of the micro 4/3 lenses from all the major manufacturers and this one delivers the pro-level quality that I require. In addition to its obvious wide aperture, it's corner-to-corner sharpness is terrific. And it's rendering of images fits into the "Leica look"camp very well which may not fit everyone's tastes, but certainly fits mine. Highly recommended!

Amazing lens

Very sharp and bright lens, with excellent bokeh, even compared to my Lumix G 20 mm f/1.7 pancake lens.

Very sharp, beautiful rendering.

One of my favorite lenses for the micro four thirds system. Though bigger, a bit heavier, and more costly than competing f/1.8 and f/1.7 primes, it earns its nearly inscrutable reputation. I regularly use it from f/1.4 through f/11 and find it to be very sharp at all apertures, with center sharpness peaking around f/2.8 and edge sharpness peaking between f/2.8-f/5.6 depending on the scene. Good for a wide variety of subjects, whether the light is good or poor.

Worth every penny...

Just diving into the MFT systems, and this was the lens to get...so far it has met the expectations, and cannot be happier about choosing this baby to start with the right foot! Size and weight are something to consider, but it's well worth it...Panasonic and Leica nailed it! The f1.4 is just amazing, and the construction of the lens is top class!!!

A good walking-around lens

This is an excellent lens for general street images. It focuses quickly and has a good grip for manual focusing as well. It moves from afternoon to night shooting thanks to the wide aperture. I probably will keep this on the Pen or G2 most of the time.

Panasonic 25mm f/1.4 Leica DG Summilux A

I use it as my normal lens. It is bright and clear. Low light photography is easy, Colors are natural and the subjects turn out crisp and sharp. GREAT LENS AND A BARGAIN AT THE PRICE. I sold my Nikon D800 and never looked back. It is light and enjoyable to use.........

Bokehlicious

I have had it less than a month but can already tell I'll be using it more than any other lens I own. Great in lower light situations. Build & optics are great AF is fast and the focus ring is much smoother than the kit lens I have.

One of my favorite lenses

I love fast lenses. This one is sharp and focuses fast and precise. I usually use a central focus point to focus precisely and then compose. Professional looking pictures.

Very sharp lens wide open

This lens is very sharp even wide open. I don't use charts to judge the sharpness of a lens so I'm not sure how this lens fares in that kind of test. But when I take pictures of people, I realize that I can count every wrinkle on my subjects' faces. Some of my subjects (mom) don't like this lens because it shows too many wrinkles. There is nothing I don't like about this lens.

it makes a difference

At first I thought this lens will probably work the same as the 20mm f1.7 it should being 5 mm more and f 0.7 difference. However as a low light lens f1.4 just give you a little more low light capability. By better is that somehow all pics taken with this lens is so much more beautiful. Can't seem yo figure what makes it better but everybody seeing pics coming from this lens says that pics is better. This lens may be not as compact or light as the 20 mm but it is definitely better in image quality

Outstanding Prime

I am old school; still using a Pentax MX with 50 mm 1.4. My wife, however, using the Oly OMD/EM5 with kit zoom. I needed a lens more similar to what I was using. (Yes, I zoom with my feet.) All I can say is "OMG." The photo colors, sharpness and ability to shoot a black cat at night, w/o flash, is amazing. I could not be happier. The Pentax is sitting on the dresser; my wife cannot pry the Oly from my hands. Great product and exceptional service and attention from Adorama.

Great all-around lens

I use this with my GH3. The 25mm focal length takes a bit to get used to, but it really is better than a 42mm portrait lens for little kids and fast moving fury animals. With it's shallow DOF and bohak, it may also be the best MFT lens currently available for video. The minuses: it could do a little bit better in low light, be a little bit quieter, and possibly also be weather resistant. I haven't upgraded the firmware yet either, but it seems to struggle a bit with auto-focusing in low light sometimes. The update may help, but I also must state that the manual focus ring is very smooth, much nicer than my 14-42mm Pany, although I don't use MF much thanks to the GH3's complete and utter lack of focus peaking. Would be awesome on a G6 or GX7.

Best output for a normal lens in mFT!

I always turn to this lens and it never fails to deliver quality output every time I attach it on my E-M5. This is the best lens I own out of the several I have already bought/sold. I don't plan to sell this one anytime soon. It is a keeper for sure!

An interesting, all-around good prime

I haven't gotten many hours looking through this glass, but I bought it with a GH3 to have a versatile piece that doubles as a sharp stills lens and a fast, clear video lens. I bought it because I wanted the autofocus option, and I wanted something easy to use while I learn the camera before I put together a dedicated video lens kit. So far, this thing seems great. It is definitely SHARP, and I haven't shot enough video with it yet to decide whether it's too sharp to be as cinematic as I want, but so far it seems like an aspect that is "better to have and not need than need and not have," as I can always sharpen that softness in post.

Fantastic Lens

Great lens. Enables a convenient focal length to shoot fast. Great low light, great DOF, allows focus points foreground or background. Fun, fun, fun lens, everything I needed. As a nubie with interchangeable, this is one of a few great forgiving m4/3 lenses that make the entire system fun, fun, fun.

Sharpest lens: Period!

This is the sharpest lens I've ever used. I have a D800 and 5 stellar lenses for it. This produces skin tones better than another lens. The shot below was taken with this lens on a G3. It was just a grab shot prior to a studio shoot. I was walking to the set, looked to my right, and there was Emma in mixed lighting. I took a shot and kept walking. Because it is soooo sharp on screen I had it enlarge to 20x24. It is just as sharp in print as it is on screen. There is absolutely no noise. iso 160, @ a 60th f1.4. The slight green color cast is from the mixed lighting. I decided not to correct it for the test. You examine the image below and make up your own mind. This lens is forever!

Thee m4/3 lens to have!

This is THEE lens to have for the m4/3 system. Sharp throughout the whole range, fast AF, wonderful colors, and that Leica like rendering. I'm a street shooter, and have been using the SLR Magic HyperPrime f0.95 lens for a while. I got this lens a couple weeks ago after selling my Pentax DSLR to buy it, and have not taken it off since!!! Well worth it!! An incredible lens. I love it. Love it more than my HyperPrime. On a side note, this is NOT a Leica lens, it is a Panasonic lens. It is (afaik) based off of a Leica design. But, short of Leica designing a lens for the m4/3 system, and over charging by 300%, this is as close to Leica glass as we'll see. Is this well worth the money? YES!!!

Super Sharp lens

This lens is very sharp, even at f1.4. the DOF is awesome... I had the ZD50mm f2, and it is great... but when I see some pictures from other brands with the 50mm 1.8 or 1.4, the DOF look great, but not with mine... until now!! It really help to keep the low ISO in low light scenes. I really like it. It is heavier than my 14-54II and bigger, but it is a great lens. I recommend it to everyone who is looking for a fast prime lens for the four thirds system.

My first Leica!

Bought this lens because I was not satisfied with the corner distortions from my panasonic 20mm f1.7,at wide apertures. This Leica lens is virtully distortion free. It has produced some outstanding shots at f1.4. Not the low contrast images I'm used to seeing from my 50mm f1.4(35mm format)lens.Good color fidelity, contrast, and sharpness, they're all there. I can actually get this at F1.4!Outdoors the performance is also exceptional.Simply set the camera on program, and it will select the correc...
