I use my Lumix G9 camera exclusively these days, and I do primarily nature photography and a little general shooting. I use two Lumix zoom telephotos. I consider myself to be an experienced (not advanced) amateur photographer and photography is my retirement hobby. There have been many times that I wished I had a macro lens. I decided to purchase the Panasonic Leica Macro Elmarit 45mm F/2.8 lens and so far I don't regret buying it. I have done a lot of testing and experimenting so far to get familiar with using a macro lens. One thing that I quickly learned is holding the camera perfectly still is the key to success(use a tripod or monopod when necessary). The lens functions well and professional reviewers claim it excels from F/4 to 5.6. Depth of field is often critical with many macro shots. I like the O.I.S. switch and focus limit switch provided with the lens. The focus ring is rubber coated and the lens is Japanese made. Good build quality. Recommended.

I use it a lot. Makes me look like a much better photographer than I am. I plan to buy more Leica lenses if I can

I bought this because I'd already started taking pictures of every flower I came across, so the leap to full 1:1 macro seemed natural. Since then, it's spent entire days fixed on my camera. I love it. It's relatively heavy for a Micro 4/3 lens, but that's because of all the good glass in there. The pictures are sharp, I've never noticed any CA, and it definitely lets me get close. It also doubles as a convenient 90mm-equivalent length portrait lens - great for pics of friends or candid street shots.

The lens would not focus and had to be returned for a refund.

I take photographs as a hobby (posting to several online photo-sharing sites) and wanted a macro lens for my Lumix GF3. So far, I'm very pleased with the quality of the shots I've taken with this lens--very good detail and color. It is extremely light--in fact when I received the package, I thought the box was empty! I have no complaints at all, except for the price (it was expensive).

I put this lens on an Olympus EM-5 and shoot away. The lens has wonderful contrast, beautiful bokeh, lovely color rendition, and focuses fast. With an angle of view comparable to a 90mm on a full frame camera, I can get close-up to skittish subjects with out getting too physically close. I don't know why this lens seems to be overlooked by many pros, it's my most useful lens. I love it!

I love macro photography, and this lens is very useful, in that one can quickly move from macro to landscape photography.

I use this lens on my Panasonic G3. For a short telephoto lens it is small and light. It also feels good in the hand, like all the pieces fit together tightly and well. But I am most impressed with the image quality.

Bought for my GH2. Image-wise I would give 5 stars but taking off one as the AF is less snappy in some close focus situations. Beautiful Leica-like bokeh and tack sharp. Perfect double duty portrait and macro. Image stabilization makes handheld macro easy. Manual focus by wire is responsive and works well for very small and fussy macro subjects especially when on a tripod. Might cost more than some other M43 lenses at the same focal length but well worth the price.

Bought for a little extra reach on my GF1, this lens tends to stay on the body all the time unless I need a wider view. Focus has a really nice "feel" and it is still reasonably compact.

Boasting a seven-blade circular aperture, the lens creates a beautifully smooth bokeh effect, adding an artistic touch to your images with a pleasing background blur. The robust metal mount underscores the lens's durability, while the multi-coated lens elements minimize glare and maximize optical performance.
Compatible with a wide range of Panasonic Lumix G Series Micro Four Thirds cameras, the Leica DG Macro-Elmarit 45mm f/2.8 lens supports the advanced contrast Auto Focus (AF) system, including Panasonic's Face Recognition functions, ensuring that your subjects are captured with precision and clarity.
