this is a great sharp lens! It has become by far my favorite lens to use, sometimes it lives on my G9. It may be heavy for some, but the images are well worth the weight

This lens is surely becoming one of my favorites. The lens has a very solid feeling build and the zoom and focus functions work very smoothly with just the right amount of resistance. The sharpness and rendering of the lens are wonderful, and the image quality still remains excellent when used with the 1.4 teleconverter, and remains very good when used with the 2x teleconverter. I like that this has more reach than the Olympus 40-150mm that I used to own, and that it is more portable when stored at the 50mm setting.

This is a stellar lens. It focuses fast and is very sharp throughout the entire focal range. I keep it on my camera most of the time for backyard bird shooting and more.

This is the best price around on this combo. I haven’t tried the teleconverter yet but getting it in the kit only raised the price a smidge. Got some great shots at the zoo with the lens and the focal range was perfect for that

The quality of the lens is very good but the conversion is not truly 100-400mm as 35mm camera standard.

Ordered this about 6 months ago from Adorama. Well worth the price for the combination. Lens is super sharp, and the stabilization with the G9 body is nothing short of phenomenal! I use this primarily for Landscape use, but the more I use it, the more it says on my lens. Really nice close-up photos as well. The 2x extender works very well. there is a bit of a loss in sharpness, but I find it very minimal, and having the extra reach well worth it.

I've owned a lot of M43 lenses in the past 9 years, including the PL 100-400mm, and this PL 50-200mm is truly exceptional. Color, sharpness, contrast, close focusing ability are all excellent. It focuses fast and accurately, also. It's OOF area characteristics are very good, pleasing with a bit more character than you usually see. They are not busy, but not blandly smooth either, and I think they add, rather than detract, from the images it produces. Now, I did buy this lens with the TC 2x, which is not truly exceptional (I have reviewed it on its own page), but which can produce excellent output if stopped down to f10. At f8, it is not up to the quality of the lens, but stopped down it does quite well. Whether or not that meets your needs for a TC or not will depend on the conditions you shoot in, but it's ok for my particular usage. I do think it's worth the extra $100 on sale with the lens as a package, but I don't think I would pay full price for the TC if purchased separately, however. In any case, I HIGHLY recommend this lens.

Light weight and a great addition to any Mircro 4/3 system. Works flawless with either Lumix G9 or GH5. Outstanding optical quality and built quality. The IS is incredible allowing tack sharp images down to 1 second in combination with the G9 and GH5. A true bargain for a premium branded Leica lens.

The Panasonic Leica 50-200 2.8-4 thus far has performed in an excellent manner. I will be using this lens for overseas travel along with my other PL 8-18 & 12-60 lenses with a G9. The lens weighs 23 ounces vs 40 ounces for my Tamron FX 100-400 3.5/6.3 used with my Nikon D750. The color, rapid & precise focusing and light weight certainly meet my expectations.

Okay, I have an unusual setup. I use this lens on my GH5S for video and it has been a excellent addition to my kit. I tend to value weight and size just a bit over say a constant aperture or tac sharp details. This lens, in my informed opinion, has the perfect balance of aperture, size, weight, and performance. I want to get the performance question out of the way first. This lens is supremely sharp through the range and has excellent bokeh and optical performance even wide open at f2.8. The OIS built into the lens is quite stellar and I can easily hand hold rock solid video at 200mm (400mm FF equiv) without a problem. Solid through and through. Remember the GH5S doesn’t have built in IBIS. If you have a G9 and want a great walk around telephoto lens. This is it. AF speed has been great. Maybe a bit slow when having to focus from extremely close to far away with back button focus but if you are already close the AF is extremely responsive and snappy. My only gripe is the price. Its expensive for a m43 lens, but it’s also quite a special lens. Steep price but also superb performance.

I was a pro wedding photographer for 40 years. As a retired senior, I needed a lighter kit. The Panasonic G9 became my camera of choice. Regarding the Leica 50-200mm, this lens is sharp, steady, light weight (compared to FF models) a real dream of of a lens.I used my G9 to video my wife skiing down a hill from what felt like a mile away. I was hand holding it and the results were very stable. A couple weeks later I was at my son's place and took amazing head shots of my grandkids. It had quick and accurate focussing - I was very pleased with the resultsIt was worth every penny.
