This camera is AMAZING! 4K60 in body, 10-bit in body, and amazing in low light! It has everything a true filmmaker needs! Do I need IBIS? No. Do I need it to take great photos? No. Just super high quality video with amazing features.

This has been our new go to camera especially when we're in low light situations. Well made and helps us get a great image.

I previously owned the GH4 and absolutely loved it...all except for one thing...the noise issue in low light. The GH5s is the fix for that! I definitely love everything about this camera. The dual card slots, the 10 bit recording, the 240fps, V-log, oh, and, the lack of noise!

This camera is a huge upgrade from shooting video on my Canon 5D mark iii. Dual Sd card slots for relay recording is great--using metabones adapter with Canon glass and works great. Easy customizable menu, solid 4K image and workflow. Camera feels good in my hands, not small--easy transition from the mark iii.

I'm very impressed with the new GH5s, great in low light, lot of color options, happy with V-log, REC 709, HDR hybrid log gamma support, 4:2:2 10-bit Internal. Easy to use, Love it

I use this camera for video production of weddings and corporate marketing and advertising. This camera is a major upgrade from my Panasonic GH4 4K camera! It truly delivers cinema quality 4K video in a compact and feature rich package. This camera's small size fits perfectly with my DJI Ronin-M electronic gimbal, which allows me to work quickly to get the shots for the job. It's incredible that this camera can record C4K video in the same 400Mbps codec that the Panasonic EVA-1 uses! I use the HLG and V-Log-L profiles to produce HDR video content that keeps my clients more than satified. The Dual Native ISO really helps this cameras dynamic range, while at the same time gives opportunities to deliver excellent results when shooting in less than ideal lighting scenarios. Although this is known for it's excellent video quality, it holds its own in the photo department too.

Once the sun goes down and light sources are scarce, this thing really saves day. I still don't understand why people compare this micro four thirds camera to full frame cameras like the Sony a7RIII. That's still a full frame machine, which requires giant lenses and speedboosters. I also much prefer the colors and textures that come out of this camera.

The GH5s is a well built and very customizable camera. The video images I have shot in 10 bit I frame are amazing and have an unbelievable amount of latitude. The low light shooting is exceptional good. As a m43 camera it will never have the shallow depth of field of a full frame camera, so don't expect it. You can make it look pretty good though. Also be aware that there is NO in body stabilization so expect to shoot with support, i.e. tripod, gimbal etc. Handheld is not going to happen easily, you will see the micro-shake from unsteady hands (maybe you are a surgeon with steadier hands than mine though.) All in all with the wide dynamic range and low light capabilities this camera is a real monster! Also be aware shooting 10 bit you will need a LOT of storage as 1 minute of video is over 1GB data, expect to buy lots of hard drives or shoot in 8 bit modes.

Upgrading from the GH4.. I held back on the GH5 only because of the low light still wasn't there. This GH5s, just like Sony'a A7sII is a low light beast! It's low light up to 25,600 is such clean and minimum of noise! It's about 4 stops more low light over the GH4 and about 2 stops over the GH5. Dynamic range is also improved. Best CINEMA camera in a Mirrorless body you can buy under $3000!

We were shooting with 3 GH5 cameras for weddings. We sold one and bought 2 GH5s. We use the GH5 in V-LOG during the day for most of our work, and keep a GH5s on a gimbal for all gimbal work. Then at night, we switch to the GH5s with Cine-D (unless it is well lit and we can keep our ISO reasonable on the GH5). With the GH5 we do get occasional weirdness (very occasional) from the floating sensor, so I like using the GH5s on the gimbal as there are less moving parts. If you're shooting with GH5 already, it's a no-brainer to get one or more of these for a more versatile set up. If I could only have one camera, it would be the GH5, but this is an awesome second camera to use for night footage and gimbal work. We don't use (or want to use) full-time autofocus on any of our cameras, but do use back button focus to pull focus before shooting, and so far this feature works great with the GH5s, as it does on the GH5. It's fast and accurate and when you start rolling, then you're in a good position to use manual focus.

The auto-focus is horrendous (even after trying the synchro scan hack). For everything else this camera gets 5 stars but in today's world with Canon and Sony low end cameras having near flawless auto-focus, there is no excuse for Panasonic to have such terrible auto-focus. This is my first G-series Panasonic and I underestimated how bad the auto-focus could possibly be. If you have never owned or used a G-series camera beware that the auto-focus really is that bad. The silver lining is I'm getting way better at on-the-fly manual focusing of moving objects.

This camera was a great purchase and is quite the upgrade from the GH5. It's superb in low light, comparable to the Sony A7S series, image quality is amazing and the price point can't be beat. I gave this camera only 4 stars instead of 5 simply due to the absence of the stabilizer but aside from that I highly recommend this camera.

Really like what Panasonic did with this, a great complement to the GH5, not a replacement. Having both in my kit allows for ultimate versatility in any situation. It may not appeal to the masses due to lack of IBIS, but for me the low light improvement is fantastic. To me, out of the box the AF seems more responsive even when using a Metabones Speed Booster. Overall this release has really impressed me and disproves the notion that MFT can't perform in low light situations.

Bluetooth 4.2 and Wi-Fi 5GHz
Panasonic's LUMIX Image App for Android / iOS through Bluetooth 4.2 (Low Energy) enables remote shutter release and video record Start / Stop. Plus this full-time connection between the camera and mobile device consumes less energy. After shooting, it automatically switches to a fast Wi-Fi 5GHz (IEEE802.11ac) connection to transfer data to your mobile device of JPEG and RAW files.
DMW-BGGH5 Battery Grip
By using two batteries-one in the camera and the other in the grip-exclusively designed for the GH5 and GH5s, the optional DMW-BGGH5 doubles the battery life for extended shooting. It also makes gripping more comfortable during vertical shooting. Exclusively designed for the LUMIX GH5s, the DMW-BGGH5 perfectly matches the camera, boasting splash/dust/freeze-proof rugged design with a joystick controller.

The optional DMW-XLR1 enables high-grade stereo recording with an attached XLR microphone (2 channels - left and right) for professional video production. High-res sound recording at 96kHz/24bit is also selectable. The DMW-XLR1 features an easy-to-use design with convenient physical switches / dials. The DC power is supplied via the cameras shoe connector.
"LUMIX Tether" Camera Control PC Software
The LUMIX GH5s allows tethered shooting via USB with "LUMIX Tether" PC software. It enables camera control and shooting while checking the image on a large PC screen. Plus it supports both video and 4K PHOTO, to greatly assists professional workflows in commercial photoshoots.
Multiple Aspect Ratios - A LUMIX GH5S Exclusive!
The LUMIX GH5s sensor is capable of multiple aspect ratios; 4:3, 17:9, 16:9 and 3:2. Thanks to broad margins of effective pixels, focal length does not change in these aspect ratios. Available for still photography, 4K and C4K video and in Anamorphic mode, this function allows you to fully leverage the angle of view of the lens for more creative options. Also, even while using a larger sensor, high readout speeds are achieved. Rolling shutter distortion, compared to the LUMIX GH5, is suppressed by approximately 1.3x with high readout speeds when recording video or using an electronic shutter.
Dual SD Card Slots
The LUMIX GH5s is equipped with dual SD card slots for larger capacity recording and efficient file arrangement. Relay mode allows you to swap a full card out for an empty card so you can virtually record endlessly. Backup mode allows you to record continuously on one card, while you start and stop recording on the other card. Simultaneous record mode duplicates your recording on both cards. Both slots are compatible with high-speed, high-capacity UHS-II Video Speed Class 60 cards for high bitrate video recording.
