This is one of the first DSLRs designed more for video than pictures. It shines shooting video. The image you see on the LCD screen when shooting is very misleading, as Panasonic didn't spare any expense with a high quality screen. When you play back the footage on your big screen TV, you will amazed with the clarity and depth of field achieved with this camera. That coupled with the variety of lenses this camera accepts and the ability to hack it to much higher bitrates, makes this a camera to compete with. The poor filmmakers, like myself, with grand imaginations and lofty visions can now achieve their dream movies for under a grand. I can shoot side by side with my Canon 5D Mark II and the footage edits together seamlessly. Do some research. Watch some videos made with this camera and you will be amazed. I sold my Panasonic HMC150 so that I could just shoot with HDSLR cameras. The image quality is superior to that camera and I'll never look back.

Excellent video quality, easy to use without the hassle of bulky equipment. May not replace a professional $8,000 HD camera, and a $3,000 DSLR, but who wants to lug both of those around anymore. Great compact size, but large enough to still feel like a professional. Camera quality is excellent as well, and don't worry about the guys who laugh because you're not shooting Nikon or Canon, this little camera will surprise them. Offers some great unexpected features like live preview, great for slow shutter speeds, and low/bright lighting conditions.

The video is best on the market. Clean and very sharp. Much better than the EOS series. I own both world. I will go with Canon because of better lens choice. But for video, you can not beat the GH2. Photos are just as nice. You can not go wrong for [$]. Also remember, panasonic is constantly improving. That mean more great lenses and products is on the way.

I had to stop carrying my Nikon D200 because of the weight load on my old, arthritic body. The GH2 has allowed me to start carrying an interchangeable lens camera again. I particularly like the ability to change aspect ratios with very little loss due to cropping. 4:3 is 16 MP, 3:2 is 15 MP, 16:9 is 14 MP and 1:1 is 12 MP.

I snagged this gem when Adorama had a small inventory in stock for a few minutes. I'm very cautious about spending because I want a solid product with longevity that can be used professionally. Hence, I read a lot of reviews and assessed every nuance before considering purchase. Thus, in 2010 I looked at several camcorders and there was always something not perfect enough to procure. I was even skeptical about the GH2, because I can't fathom what reviews are real and which ones are moles (manufacturers' reviews). Well, I jumped in and I'm no mole, but gotta tell you, the GH2 lives up to the hype. Sure, there will be fussy reviewers who gripe about things, and there are some small irrelevant caveats, but overall the GH2 is "there." Yes, the 14-42 lens is somewhat noisy and not picture perfect, but it's more than adequate. I wouldn't call it junk, although others will, but I don't care. I can work with this "junk" lens and profit from it. Of course, I have other lenses and will perhaps build a collection. The sound is stellar, and works well with external mics without dual-audio. Stabilization is good. You can handhold this thing and shoot video, or use your existing mono- or tripod. You don't need expensive and bulky Philip Bloom systems that'll turn the GH2 into Iron Man, unless you're doing a Hollywood movie. The GH2 has features galore. I read and refer to the manual often. There's so much in this small body, it's hard to assimilate all it can do in one sitting. It took me a week to get started. In conclusion, the GH2 is a very good product, even with its first firmware. It will be relevant years beyond its obsolescence, and Panasonic would be crazy to supersede it before 18 months. I also want to give Adorama a thumbs up. I'm a returning customer, so Adorama is now the first place I look at.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-GH2 Digital Camera has a large 17.3 x 13.0mm Live MOS sensor that records 16.05MP of high resolution goodness, a 10x zoom lens (28-280mm equivalent in 35mm), 1920 x 1080 60i HD Video with Dolby stereo sound, a multi-function Touch Screen for control of both stills and video and extremely fast auto focus in a camera 1/3 smaller (4.88 x 3.53 x 2.98"/12.4 x 8.96 x 7.58 cm) and lighter (13.82 oz/392 g) than most DSLRs.
It has MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer) to eliminate blurry photos from low shutter speeds/shaky hands, a 3" free-angle LCD with 460,000 dots, high sensitivity up to ISO 12800 and an advanced dust reduction system to protect image quality. RAW capability in still images gives you ultimate control for the best pictures possible.
There's a lot more, of course. Like 3D shooting capability with the Lumix G 12.4mm/F12 interchangeable lens, a built-in flash with 1st and 2nd curtain sync and iA (Intelligent Auto) mode that makes all settings automatically to give you optimal results without worrying about shutter speeds or exposure. Both stills and video can be customized with Scene and Color modes for a vast range of creative options.
A Cinema mode allows you to shoot 1080/24p video with 24Mbps, a Variable Movie mode lets you choose the frame rate, from 80% to 300%, there are a variety of color modes (including 3 different black and white settings) and, you can even shoot a high resolution 14MP photo at the touch of the shutter button, while recording video! A wide range of optional accessories such as an external stereo microphone, a zoom lever for smoother zooms in video recording, external flash, HDMI cable, etc. might make the DMC-GH2 just right for you.
