Lumix. GX9 camera kit

The kit has everything needed to start taking pictures. Basic camera and lens, good filter kit, memory card, cleaning kit and a very small travel bag. In addition it has software for photo and video editing from Corel. It was supplied at the same price as the base camera. What's not to like about that!

Lumix GX9 with kit zoom lens.

Very happy with this camera. I wanted a small, unobtrusive camera for general purpose photography while traveling. The image quality and video are excellent. The optical and inbody image stabilization is excellent. Almost a perfect camera. Love the L Monochrome D profile! Only criticism is that the camera is not weather sealed. Also, the kit lens, 12 - 60 mm zoom is a bit large and slow for my needs. This, though, is not a significant negative.

Fantastic

Love this camera! I will upgrade to a G9 and keep this as a lightweight option, but paired with a decent lens this is a fantastic camera.

Excellent entry into MFT!

I purchased this camera as a second system for safari to complement a Nikon Z50, and so I wouldn?t have to change lenses. This is a fantastic and highly capable camera with excellent IBIS, image quality, and firmware. I mounted a Leica 100-400 mm and have gotten some fantastic shots in a very small package. I will be buying fully into the micro four thirds system - the lenses and therefore the whole kit are so much easier for a petite female like myself to carry. I am an amateur/enthusiast and I enjoy shooting nature and wildlife as well as landscapes. I don?t do much portrait shooting, so maybe look elsewhere if that?s your jam, but for everything else this is a great entry level camera. The only thing that is a little tough with this body is the ergonomics of larger lenses; it was well worth buying an additional screw-in hand grip. In any case, I?m getting the G9 next as to cement my entry into MFT. Very pleased with this purchase.

Larger and heavier than it's supposed to be.

Plan to buy Sony ZV-E10 but it's out of stock. So I bought Lumix DC-GX9 and hoped it'd be lighter and smaller, but it's not. The grip isn't good for a larger hand. The price is attractive. The image quality is right on the bar. Haven't tested the video shooting.

Great for Hiking

Very happy. I have a similar camera, that does not have the detachable lens so had a good idea what I was getting. I do a lot of hiking, carrying full size cameras. Just got to the point where dealing with the weight, and having to constantly being careful how I carried them, especially on climbs, was too much. This one is going to be so much easier and still provide me with good quality photos.

No need for full frame

Best thing I ever did. Love this little camera and the lenses are phenomenal. Probably will never go back to full frame.

Highly recommended travel camera/lens combo

These are my first impressions of the camera/lens combo. I love the rangefinder style of the GX9. I originally purchased the GX85 primarily because of the price and fell in love with it. When the GX9 came out I resisted as long as I could but finally purchased it. Besides the rangefinder design, this is a feature rich camera. I am primarily a stills photographer so some of the complaints about the lack of video features is not a problem for me. The tilting EVF is really useful and menus are easy to navigate. The 12-60mm kit lens is a great lens. It is sharp across the image throughout the range and it quick focusing and reliable. This is a great combination and I would highly recommend this camera/lens combo to any photographer.

Great service and on time delivery, fantastic camera

Service and delivery outstanding. The item was deliver on time and complete with all the extras. I called to order other items and had the same great service. I wouldn't hesitate to order from Adorama again. Now as for the GX9 it is a fantastic camera. Extremely versatile. Outstanding sharp photos. I generally shoot aperture priority. I have used the IT+ and was surprised at how well it does. It will automatically change from macro to portrait to landscape when you are focusing. Highly recommend if you want a camera you can use as a P&S or get as creative as you like. Handles well. I would recommend the optional grip if you have big hands (or not). It will give you a more secure comfortable grip.

Best travel camera

Highly recommend for traveling due to light weight, fast focusing, good zoom ranges. Need at least one more spare battery due to low battery life(~200)?

Great Camera, Flash Not So Much

I bought this camera a few months ago and really like the way it handles. I moved from a Pentax K7, and I am amazed how far the low light capabilities have come in 10 years. This camera does amazing things in low light. I do not know much about video, but video from this camera is UNBELIEVABLY good. I have two complaints: 1. I find it really does go through the batteries. Definitely will not make it through a day of use on a single battery. 2. With the included 12-60 lens, there is a shadow in the bottom left corner of pictures when using the built -in flash at any focal length less than 25mm. This is not a huge deal, just a little disappointing. I know it is easily fixed by purchasing a speed-light for the hot-shoe, but I bought this camera/lens set-up, in part, for downsized simplicity over a dslr. I like being able to go to family dinners, with a large family, and not needing extras like a speed light. I currently do not have any pictures showing this problem with the flash that are not my family and I do not post those pics on line. I will try to get some examples.

I like the Lumix GX9... mostly

Alright, there is not much room here. Basically, the gx9 is very close to the camera that I would design for myself... with a couple of glaring exceptions. First, the controls are, to me, very intuitive, with the right function wheel/button in the right place for each parameter. No real issues. I very much like the articulating eyepiece. The images are fine, what you'd expect from a high-end camera. However, herein lies one of my complaints. The RAW (RW2) files that this camera generates are apparently different than those from preceding Lumixes, because very few editors will open them. I use ACDSee, and like it very much. But I now have to use a third party app to convert the RW2s to TIFFs that can be edited in ACDSee. This, it seems to me, is unnecessary. Just use a format for RAW that already works! My other complaint: No socket for a wired remote! I have to use a cell phone as a remote trigger. Turn the camera off between shots, spend another 5 minutes connecting camera and phone!

Great travel camera

Traveling with a camera is all about trade offs. For me getting to the destination and being able to take the shot is more important than getting the perfect image. Carrying around a DSLR all day just isn't much fun. This camera isn't a DSLR which means that while it has a more than respectable sensor it is not in the same league as its bigger rivals. That being said I am amazed at the image quality produced by such a relatively compact and light camera. I paired it with the Leica Summilux 15mm F1/7 for brilliant night street photography and the 35-100mm F/2.8 II Lumix GX Vario lens for some extra reach. There will be times when I am in dusty conditions (e.g. on safari in Namibia) where a different type of camera with weather sealing and even greater reach will be required but for everywhere else this camera provides everything that I need as an energetic traveller / amateur photographer.

Amazing capabilities for the urban shooter or hiker

Light, quiet, great colors, nice articulating screen. Clever tilting LCD which is great for macro shots. Even the kits lens is great quality. I purchased this camera for hiking and it has fit the bill nicely (I was sick of hauling heavy FX Nikon gear up mountains).

Great all around performer

I bought this camera on elsewhere. A bit of my background: I am not a professional photographer and do not have experience with wide variety of gear. Photography is my hobby and 90 percent of it is landscape. To give you an idea check my instagram: place_of_adventures. Until recently I owned Nikon D5500 and Sigma 18-35mm. It was a nice combo, IQ is great for my needs. But the weight and size... I hike and travel a lot so decided to get something smaller and got Lumix LX100. Awesome little camera. Loved the manual dials and it was tiny. Could not tell difference in IQ between that and Nikon as long as you don't zoom/crop and don't go above ISO 1600. After a short while with LX100 I realized I want longer zoom and started looking into ILC again. Was thinking to get GX85 with 12-35mm and 45-150mm or PEN-F with 12-40mm and 45-150mm. PEN-F is beautiful but I use tripod a lot and their screw mount is positioned oddly. Besides that meant getting bigger lens (12-40 vs 12-35) and additional hand grip possibly. GX9 is a bit better and newer than GX85 and price difference is not that big considering you get 12-60 (~$300 value). So I went for GX9 and finally arrived (12-60mm kit lens for sale). Got 12-35mm already. I really like the way it feels in my hand, very solid and good grip. I liked EVF in LX100 and GX9 has the same which is fine with me. I know most of you think it's horrible compared to others but I have nothing to compare it to, thus I like it. Focus is fast but that doesn't matter to me much. IBIS is awesome which comes in handy when using long zoom. I think it performs very well at ISO 3200, I was surprised. The tilt screen is nice, don't care much for tilt EVF but it is handy sometimes. Enough custom buttons for my needs and manual dials are handy. Not much else to say. It is a camera and it can take gorgeous photos if you know what you doing, as well, it's easy to use. I like it a lot :)

This camera does not make a real 8Mb 4K Photos as advertised

When I try to make a 4K Photo, the size of outgoing 4K picture is no more than 2 Mb. The MP4 file I have recorded using any from three 4K mode is too small, no more than 80 Mb. So, even, if I shot very fast such one second, for one second camera recorded 30 frames with a total size 80 Mb...it's easy arithmetic. The menu for 4K Photo in GX9 does not have any options to change the 4K Photo size, comparing to G9 menu. Any my attempts to ask a Panasonic customer service don't bring any result. They directed me to...G9 menu sending the wrong link. But GX9 menu DOES NOT HAVE THIS OPTION!!! We have in New York two biggest in USA professional stores, 3 experienced guys tried to help me, but conclusion was: The camera does not fit technical specification. So, I returned camera back to the store. Nevertheless, still pictures are good, even with low light.

Fast Auto-focus with DFD Technology

Panasonic's DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology* calculates distance to subject by instantly evaluating two images with different sharpness levels for ultra-high-speed AF. The GX9 fine-tunes AF precision to accurately track anyone and anything that moves, even in dimly lit settings with enhanced AF performance.
The end result is faster AF speeds up to approx. 0.07 seconds** and a burst shooting speed with AFC of 6 fps. A 9 fps burst shooting with AFS is also possible.
*Contrast AF with DFD technology works only with Panasonic Micro Four Thirds lenses.
** In AFS, at wide-end with H-FS14140 (CIPA).
