Shopper : Why Did You Choose This?SCOTT M : Battery charger, card reader and extra battery always important to have. I will not use some of the software stuff or tripod but overall a good value for me. Curiously the shipped was not nearly as good a deal with the more expensive kit option. 1-3 days free vs 3-7 days free. I paid $24 for two day.

Worked once. Then would not charge or even turn on.

Wish could use it but cannot get any support from seller or company. Need it for my work. Very disappointed..

Not sure I like this camera

I use the camera to take RAW photos and I like to bracket. However; I am not happy with the bracketing capabilities. Mine takes 16 photos in jpg format while I have it set to take 3 images in RAW format. The support from Panasonic is useless. The manual leaves a lot to be desired.

evf won't stay in focus

This is my third lumix, having had the zs-40 and 50 before. The 60 biggest problem is the diopter dail is just too loose and does not lock in, so when you put the camera in your pocket and take it back out again the evf is almost always out of focus. Annoying. Come on Panny engineers, fix this.

Perfect Travel (to your kids game or around the world) Camera

Bought this in a hurry just in time for a spring break vacation to the Dominican Republic. Had done some research and was going to buy an open box ZS100 for 500 somewhere else but that did not pan out. Adorama came through at the last minute with a price that matched the best price out there and threw in a whole bunch of other stuff. I own an old point-and-shoot as well as a Nikon DSLR. Neither was ideal (one too old and crappy and the other too bulky) and it was time to buy a new compact camera. The camera came through big time! Love the 4K burst mode. Almost always want to leave it on when taking photos of people. No other way to catch 4 kids looking the same direction with eyes opened, not picking their noses or butts, and occasionally smiling. The zoom is incredible. Video too. Just wish it had come with the HDMI cable as I couldn't get the WiFi to work for showing pictures/videos on my TV. Will read the manual more carefully and give it another try.

Nice little camera

I was looking for a low-cost, good quality, pocket-size camera for travel with high zoom capability for wildlife photos. It has accompanied me on a one week hiking trip to West Texas to test its capabilities. This camera provides pleasing photos in daylight throughout most of the zoom range except at the highest zoom level. Low light performance is not good, as expected for a small sensor camera. Overall, I am happy with the photos I've taken with this camera. For the times when my large cameras aren't convenient or available, this little camera will do just fine.

SUPER FLEXIBLE COMPACT CAMERA

I bought the Z60 based on my positive impression of the Z50 bought for my wife. Either the 50 or 60 goes well beyond being point-and-shoot capable. And the 60 adds many customizable features beyond the 50. After shooting 2000 plus photos / videos over a 10 day Europe vacation, I have grown more impressed with the Z60. While I wanted and liked having the many touch screen features, sometimes they got triggered by accident out in bright sun, and not noticed immediately. Well, to my joy, I found they can be turned off or on in the menus to suit your current need. There is a lot of depth in features available. The 30X zoom has fantastic optical stability, allowing shots you thought you'd never capture. Great camera I would buy again.

Lumix

It has a lot of features than I can not understand how to use and the Owner's Manual could be written more down to my level of understanding.

Very disappointed

Well, I Iwent to my hometown camera shop and this was the camera they highly recommended to me before I took off on a one month trip. I'm an artist so I was hoping to get some shots on my trip that I could use for painting later when i returned home. Ten days into my month-long trip I pulled it out to take some photos of some beautiful low light conditions. I have been very careful to protect my camera, keeping it enclosed so that any foreign objects or grit could not reach it. The camera worked fine the first ten days, but today when I turned on the camera I got the message "system error focus." I have searched the manuals and numerous sources online. I have tried several of the suggestions such as recharging the battery, plugging the cord in, re-inserting the memory card, etc. Nothing has helped. So I'm out of luck for the rest of my trip. My first reaction at this point is this camera is either a lemon, or it is absolutely a very fragile camera. I mean, my goodness, I didn't get it wet, kept it totally out of the elements, etc. My husband had an I Phone that he uses to take photos, and I've actually seen him drop the darn thing on the ground with no problems. Here I am taking great care of my camera and it stops working. I intend to return it for a refund when I return home.

No microphone port!

Great phone but... To me it doesn't make any sense to design a camera to take 4k video and NOT include a microphone port. It means you're stuck with the poor quality of the onboard mic when their are awesome shotgun, lavalier, etc mics out there that will give you professional sounding audio. Who wants to create awesome video and be stuck with tin can audio from a dozen feet away? Please please please add a mic port.

I wanted to really like this and will be sending back.

There is something very wrong with this camera. I took less than a 100 pictures when the lcd screen kept flipping the image upside down and colors kept fading out or going pink, green or any other multitude of colors.

It's Great…. and Not so Great

The lens is quite amazing in clarity and it's tele-extension! It fits nicely in my hands and is easy to operate, for the most part. I love the video capabilities and the 18Megapixel still photo capacity. However, the on switch for video is horrible….. I'm documenting some crows outside my home so there are a lot of times when I need to get the camera on NOW, and I almost Never succeed in that. Also, the zoom lever is counter intuitive for me in terms of zooming in or out. That really sucks too….. Also, the touch screen is a very nice feature for sure, Perhaps install an on/off switch so when shooting we can turn that feature off. Also, the buttons are too easy to hit, like the auto focus choices. Lastly, as much as I like the lens, it is extremely delicate and once one of the 3 separate parts of the barrel is off track, I haven't been able to realign it so as far as I know, it became a piece of junk. Lastly, I got dust or something else on the sensor and I can't get in there to clean the stuff off the sensor, so, with the lens broken, I bought a new ZS60.

Truly Great Camera!

The ZS60 replaced a ZS20 that after about 5yrs, 118,000 plus photos and countless overseas trips, the old camera developed two problems: a spec of dust on one of the internal lens elements and then the lens developed problems extending out when the camera was powered up......so that resulted in the purchase of the ZS60 Camera. Overall I love the new camera. But, two things to which I had to adjust: 1) I was very surprised the first time the screen went dark, then I realized that the way I was holding the camera made the camera think I was using the view finder and turned off the screen. Once I realized what was happening, I quickly adjusted. 2) I wish the camera was slightly thinner (like the old ZS20). The number one reason I purchased the ZS60 (and the previous ZS20) is because of the telephoto feature. The ZS60 is far better than my old camera and it was really good. I even took a photo of the moon, and it showed the craters (by merely bracing myself and not using a tripod).

Terrific Zoom on this camera

I had a Panasonic Lumix DMC ZS25 that I loved but it decided to disappear. I recently purchased the Lumix DMC-ZS60 because it has 18 mp compared to only 12 that the ZS25 had. The first thing I noticed is the ZS60 is a heavier point and shot camera then the ZS25 was. I am still getting used to it, but the scene selection is not as user friendly as the older model. The zoom on these cameras is incredible and makes getting that photo from way far away much easier than carrying all the lenses and having to change them out.

Def A+

After researching for months, I finally found this camera as being the best option out there for the mixture of quality/zoom/size/price/features...nit-pick reviews will pick apart any camera, but for 99% of users, I honestly think this is beyond an A+ !

Excellent performance

Received recently. Very easy to start using it without a lot of tedious learning. Many features for advanced techniques if one cares to learn. Takes great pictures Like the ability to switch back and forth automatically between the screen and the electronic view finder. Love the telephoto and also the low light pictures available without the flash on.

Good travel camera

Being a travel camera it can't be expected to do everything, but it does a lot of things and does them well. I would like it even better if it had a socket for the regular Panasonic shutter release, but that's probably asking too much. At this point I have about three thousand snaps on the camera and I'm very pleased with it.

Lots of Features in a small package

The Lumix DMC-ZSS60 fits in your pocket like most point-and-shoot digital cameras, but it is noticeably heavier. The reason is that this small wonder packs an incredible number of recording features. In fact, the features included are possibly overwhelming. The online, downloadable detailed owner's manual is over 400 pages. Unfortunately, the small manual that comes in the box is woefully inadequate and one must consult the detailed manual to understand the camera's complexity. The lens provides an excellent image, and the camera has a eye viewfinder for those who prefer one. So, although the learning curve is pretty steep for using the many excellent functions, this camera is all you need to record stills or video and yet is convenient enough to carry in your purse or pocket.. It is excellent for low-light shots and the zoom lens is terrific. Perhaps there is too much informational clutter on the viewing screen, but I'll probably get used to it. I like the fact that the viewing screen responds to a finger touch, eliminating the need to push a button or turn a dial. This is a very impressive camera.

Best compact camera

This is my 3rd 30x optical Lumix (DMC-ZS20, DMC-SZ40), and it is the best yet! It combines the touch screen of the ZS20 with the WiFi and other features of the ZS40. The pocket size is ideal, particularly considering the very wide zoom range. The VR function allows braced, hand-held shots at full optical zoom (720mm!) with amazing clarity. I've shot views and movies (on a tripod) greater than 8 miles over water with sufficient clarity to see individual windows. In my profession, I take a lot of difficult macros, and they are easy to take and excellent. The ZS60 improved the macro zoom autofocus, so they are even better. However, the manual focus is also improved and very useful. HDR can now be tied to a button! The eye-level view finder LVF function is extremely valuable in bright daylight, and the new automatic function is great, but overly sensitive, so when the screen goes dark, I have to remind myself to move my finger if I didn't want LVF. RAW file is useful, but the SilkyPix software is inadequate for a professional feature such as RAW. It's fantastic to tie image Quality (RAW, etc.) to a function button so I can easily pick which images are in RAW. The 4K function is similar to the new iPhone, and should be useful to capture the best still from a sequence since the resolution is high. CONS 1. What happened to the 'Glass Through' Scene?? It was the most valuable Scene on the ZS40 next to HDR, but is no longer available. The Manual focus is available, but not nearly as convenient. 2. The zoom mechanism draws dust into the optics, so the useful life may be limited to a few years (if you put it in your pocket as I do) before a professional cleaning is needed. 3. The WiFi control is improved over the ZS40, but a Windows app is needed for tablets. (I unsuccessfully tried to use DUOS and BlueStacks to simulate Android on a Surface Pro 3; but even when the app found the camera, it didn't connect.) Also, the camera should remember the phone and reconnect more easily. 4. It is very difficult for me to shoot without blocking the flash. Because of all of the function buttons, there is limited space to hold it, and while the ZS60 feel is far better than previous models, I need to train myself. 5. Using the USB cord does not recharge or even maintain the battery unless the camera is off. The battery eliminator accessory is a hack that doesn't work on a tripod. 6. The USB cable appears to be camera-specific. I can charge with other cables, but not connect to my computer.

No Contest VS Cannon SX720

Agonized over the ZS60 and Cannon SX 720. Once I had both in my hands, there was no contest. Lumix just feels solid and very easy to grip vs. the Cannon but the stability was the deciding factor. Every time I tried the Cannon at max zoom I couldn't control the shake. The ZS60 was solid as a rock at max zoom plus I could always use the viewfinder for more stability or in bright light. Yes some complain about flash location but get over it, learn to use your camera. I don't feel that I gave up much with the 30x vs 40x because the pictures are actually in focus. The ability to do 4K and get frame grabs, touch screen plus all the other features made me realize this was the right choice and worth the extra cash. If you are thinking about both cameras, go somewhere where you can put them both in your hands, then decide. Bonus was finding out about the additional 2 year warranty extension!

Great Travel Camera

This camera is a perfect travel camera. It does all I needed and more. Settings for shutter, aperture, even manual, as well as program and intelligent auto. Panorama shots are easy to take, and touch screen is excellent. Movies, too. Zoom to 720mm is a great length, and pictures at 18mb are crisp. Flash is a little weak. My only complaint was that sometimes things seemed to happen of their own accord (I probably accidentally moved the ring on the lens) and I couldn't figure out how to get back to normal. Usually, though, turning it on and off worked well. Battery length was reasonable. The package was also a good bargain, as the camera does NOT come with an external charger, and in order to always have a charged battery on hand, it is often necessary to charge a spare battery from outside the camera. The spare battery itself, of course, is necessary! The other gadgets in the accessory pack are nice to have! (Good sturdy little tripod and nice case.) I was very impressed with the quality of my pictures, and with the ease of carrying this little camera. I DID wish that it came with a carrying strap other than just a wrist strap, but I bought some connecting straps from the internet and made my own strap, which made it much more convenient. I would definitely recommend this camera for a reasonably priced, very convenient, good quality travel camera.

Best compact camera

By DEW

This is my 3rd 30x optical Lumix (DMC-ZS20, DMC-SZ40), and it is the best yet! It combines the touch screen of the ZS20 with the WiFi and other features of the ZS40. The pocket size is ideal, particularly considering the very wide zoom range. The VR function allows braced, hand-held shots at full optical zoom (720mm!) with amazing clarity. I've shot views and movies (on a tripod) greater than 8 miles over water with sufficient clarity to see individual windows. In my profession, I take a lot ...

Great little camera

By CautiousConsumer

Phone cameras are handy but simply don't take as good of a picture. This camera is truly pocket sized. The zoom will spoil you for detail you don't expect from such a small camera. There's no bother of extra lenses. I especially like the clear font used for the various settings. I've used the Z series cameras for over a decade. I keep having to upgrade for the new features, not because the camera wears out. I always find a good home for my used cameras.

Panasonic LUMIX point-and-shoot digital cameras are known among camera enthusiasts for reliability and innovative features. The LUMIX ZS60 brings the legendary optical performance of a 30x (24-720mm) LEICA DC Lens to a highly portable point-and-shoot travel camera. Traditionalists will love the hands-on manual feel of a lens-mounted control ring and thumbwheel, plus the familiarity of an eye-level electronic viewfinder. The modern enthusiast will love the WiFi mobile device controllability and next-generation flexibility that 4K video and 4K PHOTO modes bring to the creative experience.

• 30x (24-720mm) LEICA DC Lens optical zoom performance is ideally suited for travel and everyday photography.
• 18 Megapixel sensor delivers high-resolution photos with fewer image artifacts.
• 4K Ultra HD video recording plus exclusive LUMIX 4K PHOTO and 4K Post Focus photo capture features.
• Eye-level Electronic Viewfinder (EVF) and touch-enabled LCD for a wider viewing experience.
• Lens-mounted control ring brings DSLR-like exposure control to a compact point-and-shoot camera body.
• WiFi mobile device connectivity via Panasonic Image App for photo sharing and controlling camera features remotely.

Color, clarity and powerful zoom
The camera incorporates an 18M high sensitivity MOS sensor, allowing you to capture even the finest details of your travels. Whether taking pictures on a sunny beach or during a candlelit dinner for two, the LUMIX DMC-ZS60's exceptional low light performance ensures crisp, clear and natural results with minimal noise. The sensor complements a powerful Venus engine to reproduce breathtaking color that remains accurate to the composition you saw through the lens.

The LUMIX DMC-ZS60's outstanding optical capability is underpinned by a high-end LEICA lens with 30x Zoom (24-720mm), for performance that far outweighs its compact body. The camera allows you to get closer to the action, without disturbing the subject - perfect for pictures and videos of wildlife, or more natural shots of friends and family.

Capture those perfect moments in stunning 4KUHD
The LUMIX DMC-ZS60's 4K video capability enables you to record and relive all those special moments in the very highest quality. With four times the resolution of Full HD, videos reproduce the breathtaking color and detail of every scene, an experience second only to being there in person. The camera offers smooth, high quality video recording in 4K 3840x2160 at 30 fps in MP4, as well as high-resolution Full HD 1920x1080 60p videos in MP4.

Panasonic has also utilized 4K to help take photo accuracy to a new level. For the first time in a travel camera, Panasonic's 4K Photo function allows you to extract an 8-megapixel still from 4K video (30fps) with amazing precision. The feature provides the perfect solution for capturing those fleeting moments, whether it's timing the kids jumping into a pool or a dolphin breaching the waves.

Another new addition to the LUMIX ZS range is the Post-Focus feature, which allows you to select the focal point of your picture, even after it's taken. The LUMIX DMC-ZS60's outstanding autofocus capability calculates the distance between the camera and the subject, capturing the optimal focus for 49 individual areas within each frame. Once the photo is taken, you simply select the precise area you want to focus on - for example your family in the foreground, or the stunning scenery behind them. What's more, with the option to export multiple photos from a single shot, you'll never have to choose between the two.

Hone your camera skills
If you're looking to develop your photographic skills, the LUMIX DMC-ZS60 provides extensive and easy-to-use manual settings. A dedicated Control Ring gives smooth control of settings such as zoom, aperture and shutter speed, allowing you to concentrate on lining up the prefect shot. Similarly, a 3.0-inch 1040k-dot touch screen makes navigating menus and selecting your preferred setting incredibly quick and easy, even in bright sunlight.

Share your memories
Once you've selected your favorite holiday snaps on the LUMIX DMC-ZS60, you can share them with friends and family with the press of a button. Simply connect to a smartphone or tablet to share your pictures on social media, attach them to an email or view remotely on a bigger screen.

* When recording 4K, use a UHS Speed Class 3 rated SD card.

Built-In Stability - HYBRID O.I.S.+ (Optical Image Stabilizer) with 5-axis correction provides blur-free handheld video with continuous compensation for camera movement. The Level Shot Function* maintains the horizon even if the camera is tilted.

Recover Detail in Low Light Conditions - An 18.1-megapixel High Sensitivity MOS sensor and Venus Engine deliver bright, colorful pictures in dimly lit environments, with reduced image defects. For greater control over the attributes of the final image, use the RAW capture feature in the LUMIX ZS60.

Professional High-Speed Auto-Focusing - Depth From Defocus (DFD) Auto Focus (AF) technology instantly calculates distance to drive the focus mechanism in one continuous movement for faster focusing. DFD also increases the stability of continuous focusing while shooting video.

Enjoy Starlight Auto-Focusing - Low Light Auto Focus makes moonlight photography easier even without an AF assist lamp. The LUMIX ZS60 fully integrates Starlight Auto Focus for improved imaging of the night skies.

Light Composition - Light Composition processing selects brighter pixels to provide more dramatic imaging in situations like fireworks and nighttime scenery.

4K Live Cropping - 4K Live Cropping enables recording frames to move while the camera maintains a fixed position, providing greater stability while panning or zooming.

Seeing is Believing - A Live View Finder (LVF) improves framing and viewing under harsh sunlight.

DSLR-like Lens Ring Control - In addition to manual aperture control, shutter speed, zoom and focus, the lens-mounted control ring can be easily customized to your favorite settings.

Capture Now, Focus Later - 4K technology enables Post Focus function to refocus images after they are captured. Simply capture the scene, review the image on the camera's LCD and touch any portion of the photo to refocus.

Never Miss That MOMENT Again with 4K PHOTO - 4K video technology enables Ultra HD photography with the innovative 4K PHOTO feature. Simply capture ultra high-resolution 4K video at super-fast 30 frames per second, then press Play, Pause and Save to extract the exact instant you want from individual 4K video frames to create a 4K still image.
