I purchased this camera to replace a previous Panasonic. A fellow traveler had one and I was so impressed I upgraded. This is a great little camera which I use especially during travel as a backup for my Canon 50D. It takes high quality photos even in low light, is very light weight and easily fits in your front pants pocket. The only con for me is the manual on line is too long, too complicated but the camera is similar to many others so don't let this "con" stop you from purchasing this camera.

This is my second Lumix camera. I was pleased with the first but decided to move up to this camera after seeing a fellow traveler with one on trip to Costa Rica. I am very happy especially with the 12X optical zoom. This camera takes great landscape, macro and sports shots. It's easy to use as you can quickly move from auto to one of the "scene" modes. Photos are sharp...camera is light and easy to carry. On trips,I take a Canon 50D as my workhorse camera but use this Panasonic as a back up and for those shots that require quick set up.

I bought the ZS7 to be a "walking around" camera -- one to keep on my hip, at the ready, for unexpected opportunities or to meet requests for a quick pic from the pro at meetings, etc. It is a stunning collection of well-thought-out technical innovation. I am particularly impressed with its video capabilities -- excellent follow-focus, wide zoom range, excellent image stabilization, great variety of file sizes. For stills, the zoom range and detail, even on digital zoom ranges, is much more than I hoped for. For me, noise even up to 800 and 1600 is quite acceptable, and noise at 6400 is something I can live with. Image stabilization on stills is just as impressive as for video. Picture resolution is wonderful. As of now, it does not appear that Panasonic is making the A/C adapter set-up available (at least not on their website), so order several extra batteries, and order the "smart" batteries with the Lumix brand so there is no compatibility problem with after-market batteries.

I use this camera as my pocket camera when you can't get away with a big, honkin' DSLR or bridge camera. I've used this in a concert scenario using only the stage lights and obtained some really great images. It's the perfect take-with-me-everywhere camera.

I bought this camera for travel as my 35 mm Canon is just too heavy and bulky for our style of travel. so for so good with the camera and the best is the very easy to view screen in all kinds of light conditions
