You will have to go with the upgraded viewfinder for the GX-1

ChrisTYSON R : I do not believe it will work with the LX7. When Panasonic introduced the LVF2, it was not backward compatible (and as far as I know was a different plug) which also made the LVF1 incompatible with the newer receptor on the GX1, LX7, etc.
I do own the LVF1 and use it on a GF1 and know it works on the LX5, but I've never owned nor used an LX7 to try it out on.SAM L : I know LVF1 works perfectly with LX5. But I do not know if this works with LX7 since I do not have that camera.HERB S : I don't know if it works with the LX 7DAVID W : No, unfortunately you need an LVF2 for the LX7. But it's a quality piece -- much better resolution and size than the LVF1.STEPHEN D N : I think so. I had an LX7 at one time, since sold, but it had an electronic viewfinder atop it. I probably didn't use it more the 10% of the time.SERGIO V : Yes, it does work with the LX5. I use it when taking pictures in very bright sunlight because the back screen washes out. I also use it when taking handheld no flash pictures because you can hold a camera steadier when your arms are not outstretched.SAM L : It works fine with LX5.

I have not actually seen a Panasonic LX5, but just looked at the pictures of the back of the camera. Even if it fits, it may not work. Best bet is to check the company's return policy, buy it and find out. Mine works fine with the GF1, but to save battery life I sometimes use an optical viewfinder. The LVF1 will give you the same display that the LCD screen shows on the back of the camera. That's all the information I have. Good luckl
At one time I checked to see if it would fit a Leica Delux 5 and it did not. .....Steve.......Robert B : Yes it does but it is not a very high resolution. I find that it works for situations where a viewfinder is convenient but I would not want to use it all day.
RBTHOMAS L : I have a DMC-LX5 and it works just fine. I am finding it indispensible. The first event that I shot with the camera (before I purchased the viewfinder) was the White Sands Balloon Festival. With all that light, I could barely make out what I was shooting using the back panel. I bought the finder immediately thereafter.MICHAEL P : Yes, it does.

Reviewing Panasonic DMW-LVF1
This product allow me to be more steady with photo taking. Plus, best for bright days and strong lighting. Sharpness could be better.

Great product!
Makes daylight viewing on very bright days MUCH easier. Optics seem a little grainy, but it's well worth it!

Better than nothing.
I brought since it's the only EVF available for my GF2 and I really need one. There are a lot of serious flaws such as the inability to use lcd to select focus point, previewing picture or select PASM mode. To switch to lcd you have to push the button on the viewfinder which is located on the very bad spot on the right. Anyway, for those who really missed viewfinder - get on with it. It's better than nothing though.

Nice add-on
I love this viewfinder! Makes the camera usable for me, as I am not used to focusing with the LCD. It has a dial on it to adjust for your eyesight. It does, however, make my compact camera, not so compact, but still glad I got it.

This completes the camera. Panasonic should permanently attach this to the body. makes composing much easier. a must for bright light conditions.

Gets the job done!
Yes, the image is a bit grainy, but if you're going to Manual Focus in bright light you're going to be awfully glad to have this useful viewfinder. Its plusses definitely outweigh the one big minus (the grainy image) and it really gets the job done. If you want a nice bright big VF get an SLR.
