Favorite Bridge Camera

Excellent camera. I wanted the simplicity of an all in one for travel. Very happy with this bridge camera, menu interface, and all the included customization options.

Terrific Bridge Camera for Video or Stills

Excellent camera. In some ways, point and shoot, especially after programming the C1-3 settings. Had help from a professional photographer with training. Whether 4K video or simple photographs, quality is excellent, especially when pulling stills from burst/video. Interface is highly user friendly, and I'm fairly new to the sport. You want a good bridge camera, this is it.

Love this camera

Love this camera. A bit heavy but has so many features. Would highly recommend the large 200+ page instruction book to really learn the camera. Macro and zoom are both great.

PERFECT POINT AND SHOOT

My last camera, Nikon D90, is 10+ years old and cost $1200 of 2009 dollars. THIS CAMERA IS PHENOMENAL for those amatures who demand more than a Kodak Brownie. Just remember the lens is fixed. Really I do not need to lug a bag full of prime lenses with this Leica 25-400mm zoom...and camera feels right holding it in my hand.

GREAT VALUE FOR USEFUL GEAR

I was surprised by the overall quality of all items, except the "camera bag" is just too small for the camera. The bag is great for lipstick and powder, but I'm male. It does not include a UV filter (62mm). very much needed to protect the lens...so just add it to your order. Some items alone are worth the $82 package price, like the external mike, the LED light, the bracket for side mounted strobe, etc. Also no strobe slave is included.

Good video. Terrible photos

If you want this camera to take good photos, buy something else. This camera just refuses to take sharp images. I have lots of experience using Nikon DSLRs and Sony mirrorless models, which all shoot great photos. I have seen many other reviews with excellent photos, but my copy of this camera will not match them. I suspect there is a lot of quality problems with the lens, as mine is soft pretty much throughout the range. Very disappointing for a ($) camera. If you want to shoot video, its fantastic. Make sure you read the manual, since it is a complicated machine.

PANASONIC FZ2500/ Best Service ever

The FZ2500 is the best deal a beginner in videography can have. It really has the best of two worlds. The amazing video quality with the flippy screen makes it easy to vlog and get those low shots. The 20megapixels camera shot really gets you started in photography. And the service I got and advice from Adorama's representative was spot on target about this camera. I would not only recommend the FZ2500 alone but the place where you can get great service with your purchase.

Awesome package deal!

An amazing package deal that "the other NY guys" didn't have. Only little twist is one of the items incuded was was an on-camera LED light that seems to only use Sony batteries, but this is a Lumix camera, not Sony do that wasn't thought about, but still it's a great package and well worth the slightly extra buck!

All in One

The camera has every bell and whistle for a reasonable price. I've photographed deer from about 150 feet away just before dark. It was so dark that it was difficult to see, yet I got a good shot of a doe. I'm still learning all that this camera has to offer. I'm looking forward to many years of high quality photos.

Features are great. But a lot of noise.

The features are very good. Slow and quick motion with the press of a button is very cool. 4k looks great especially scaling down to 1080p. The menu is a lil tedious to get thru. The biggest knock is the amount of noise this camera captures. Definitely not low light worthy even with extra light. Day time does very well. Touch screen is great for focusing.

Love this camera

I love this camera. It is my take along everywhere camera because it is versatile enough to give me countless options without having to carry my DSLRs & multiple lenses. The addition of so many accessories just made this an even better deal. I think the digital charger might just be my favorite accessory! Customer service, shipping, etc. can't say enough positive things about this entire experience.

Primarily a video camera - not for me

Don't take this review too seriously, as I did not spend a lot of time checking this camera out. I did try several modes (aperture priority, Auto, etc.) along with taking a few photos at the longest focal length. I was very unimpressed with the IQ compared to my Pentax K-5 for objects photographed at the extreme focal length. All photos were taken under overcast conditions and ISO was adjusted accordingly. Indoor shots were pretty good, until the photos were examined on a large PC monitor. So, my initial impressions were that this camera will not meet my photo expectations. I realize this camera is not as capable as a true DSLR, but I was hoping this would be good enough to replace my current assortment of lenses and reduce my load on hikes and when doing walkabouts. I wasn't that interested in the video, but thought that would be something I could now explore. I did not investigate that aspect, at all, however. I returned the camera after two days.

Leica lens with mixed results

After owning several Leica brand products in my past, I assumed that the FZ2500 would be the best of all worlds. My first experience with the camera proved differently. Not sure what the issues are, but my pursuit of tack sharp photos left me sour. I've decided to stick to my bulky full frame cameras for now.

Great Camera and very happy with it!

I had the fz1000 which has also been a great camera but did not like no touch screen and limited video capabilities. I upgraded to the fz2500 for its 4k video capability and touch screen. I am still learning the many modes, low light capabilities and all of thecameras features. I have no problems with sharp images and focusing so not sure what the other reviewers are talking about. I do have large hands and noticed at first when holding the camera I was moving the manual focus rings without knowing it and had to tap the button to auto focus occasionally. Once i figured out my finger tip was on those rings I have had no issues with focus and sharp quality images.

lots to learn

The camera functions very well. It has many different shooting modes and I am having trouble learning how they all work. Using it on automatic results in very good photos. I try to photograph birds in trees with many branches in the way. The touch focus works well most of the time. I can get good photos as the camera focuses beyond branches that are closer to the camera than the bird I want in focus. However, this doesn't seem to work 100% of the time. I am learning more each day. I plan to use this camera for nature photography, both still photos and videos.

This is well worth the money. It does have a steep learning curve, but the quality so far has been excellent.

Great features, brilliant 4K video, easy to use.

I upgraded from the FZ1000, and whilst I appreciate there are some minor drawbacks, in all I have found the FZ2500 to be an amazing upgrade and feature rich piece of kit. Its now become my go to camera of choice, whereas I used to prefer the GH4 and FZ1000.

Focus and sharpness are a real issue

Disappointing at best. Have owned FZ300 and FZ1000 before and both were great cameras for video and still. the FZ2500 has serious focusing issues..rarely are my videos in focus and sharp if any movement of subject takes place. was not an issue with the 300 or 1000.

Great Camera But Lousy Service

I am a professional travel photographer of 30 years experience. As I've gotten older, I've foumd it increasingly difficult to carry around a DSLR and lens set. The 2500 does everything I need in one reasonably-conpact package, both still and video. Image quality is quite acceptable for magazine/book work, but not quite there for fine-art. Like all present-day digital cameras, it requires considerable computer-savvy to master. Unfortunately, and the reason for 2 stars, my camera developed serious, unpredictable, problems six weeks after I bought it. See photo. Neither online tech support nor the Texas service depot were able to find the problem. "Misadjusted: operator error." I took it back and am carefully using it, but not on trips: I don't dare take it overseas. I will probably replace it with another brand.

Incredible value

I am a photographer mainly, but this camera is excels in both photo and video. It is easy to use and the photos look very sharp to me (I know there has been a debate on the superiority of the Sony RX10 III). I do pixel-peep and I am very happy with the photos I took with this camera (can't compare with the Sony, maybe early FZ2500 had a lens alignment issue). It is not that big to me, and it surely beats carrying 3 lenses from different focal lengths. The AF touchscreen and built-in ND filters were the killer functions that I absolutely wanted. It does feel a bit plasticky compared to other bodies I have, but still very solid, and the weight is quite bearable. Overall, I am super happy with this product. Yes I would recommend this gem!

Very good product

This type of camera is that I need. If I can take a quick picture I can use the automatic mode and If I need make all the manual adjustments I can too.

Sharpness? Not so much.

Such a great camera with so much promise. Video is tack sharp. Still photos, unfortunately, are flat. No punch, no pop, no real sharpness. This is puzzling to me. I am not a novice photographer. I expect to see disappointing photos if there was camera shake, subject movement, or I just did not focus carefully. Unfortunately, no amount of care with automatic or manual focus lets this camera shine as it should. I've had the FZ300 and the FZ1000. Sharpness was never an issue with those cameras. I've tried two FZ2500's and both have been a let down. I'm hoping maybe a firmware update or a recall will give a solution to the problem.

The photographs are very detailed and I think I will like it for travel

Still waiting to receive part of the package so I can charge both batteries. I bought the camera for traveling when I don't want to carry my heavy pro camera. Since it was advertized to have wi-fi I though it would be great for keeping up with friends/ relatives and facebook while traveling. However I shoot RAW and it will not load to my computer, iPhone or iPad so have to shoot jpegs. The instruction booklet misses a few steps making it confusing so I paid for a more complete instruction book in my iPad which is helping explain some missing steps. The photographs are very detailed and I think I will like it for travel if I ever get the missing charger pieces so I can use it.

nice but not perfect

It is a good camera if you don't expect it to be a full featured DSLR. It is comfortable to use. Easy to understand. Zoom range is great. I wanted a capable camera for occasions when I didn't expect to need full fame sensor DSLR and all the lenses. It is just that. I wanted 4K video. Another plus. Color depth is less than my full size Nikon. Lens isn't as crisp, either. All said, it is just what I expected. Very happy.

Good travel camera.

I bought it to replace my very heavy but excellent Canon D 70 with a high quality 75 - 300 zoom, which I didn't want to lug on 3 mile hikes in Patagonia. The camera is easy to use, and fills the same zoom range as my Canon lens. Image quality is often, but not always outstanding. I found that at ISO 400 or higher, noise creeps into enlargements much earlier than it would in my DSLR. Since bird photography often requires such enlargement, this camera did not meet my needs as much as I hoped it would. Video quality is wonderful, but I am mostly a still photographer. Focussing is very fast and accurate; I used mostly the "spot" mode, which generally worked very well for me. There are features, like "continuous focus" that I haven't tried as yet. Another unexpected hitch - the RAW files cannot be opened by Adobe, nor converted to DNG files by Adobe. (unless this has changed recently) They can be opened by "Silky Pix," or by Corel Paint Shop, but since I am used to Adobe, this was inconvenient. At this time I am shooting JPEG only. At about 1200 dollars, a nature photographer might be better served by buying (from Adorama, of course) an entry level DSLR with a 75 - 300 kit lens. While I am pleased with most of the images I got with the FZ 2500, I can't recommend it to still photographers at that price point. Video enthusiasts may feel differently.

Needs 60/i 200mMOV/MP4 at least 60i/100m MOV/MP4

Gr8 camera for the money. Where it falls down is.......no 60i with a 100 or 200 megabit rate in MP4 or MOV wrapper. I appreciate the AVCHD 60i but the bit rate is a slim 17 megs. Owners of Ninja Blades would really see the difference with 60i/ 200m or at least 60i/100m in Pro Res or DNXHD. A firm ware update would fix this in short order and your customer base would really explode!

FEATURED REVIEWS

I only recommend if you actually get a REAL Panasonic fz2500

By LISA H.

I had to laugh at a comment on here about how no other dealer had these cameras available. Hmmmm.... that's because Panasonic fz2500 were not released from the manufacturer in December and that I know of they are still on backorder. I'm letting everyone know cause I was also sent a fz2500 just before Christmas, but half my menus were not working and the focus ring did not operate correctly so I called Panasonic and they told me the camera I had was either a beta test camera they give out e...

I am highly pleased, so far. don freeman

By Donald F.

This camera is new to me, just over a week in use, so this affects the credibility of my comments. My interests are both video and stills. What I like about the camera is: Zoom fn is seamless and smooth, holds focus well and 5 axis stabilization seems to really work with video. Ease of use is high. I have programmed a few function keys and begun to appreciate them. On shutter and aperture priority, having front and back wheel control is appreciated. Manual focus works well, but the aut...

The Panasonic LUMIX FZ2500 offers a hybrid mix if photo and 4K video capture features that make up its backbone. The FZ2500 is built around a large 1-inch 20.1 Megapixel sensor and bright 20X LEICA VARIO-ELMART F2.8-4.5 lens.

Video professional will enjoy features like "CINELIKE D" and "CINELIKE V" for cinema-like gradation, V-Log L upgradability, time code, live HDMI output (4:2:2/8 bit or 4:2:2/10 bit), lens ND filter controls, custom video GUI, and a system frequency selectable from 59.94 Hz (NTSC), 50.00 Hz (PAL), or 24.00 Hz (CINEMA). Combining all that with edit worthy MP4 (LPCM) and MOV, bit rates extended up to 200 Mbps (ALL-Intra) or 100 Mbps (IPB), and no recording duration limit, and it's a video producer's dream camera.

Traditional photo enthusiast benefit from all this 4K video prowess because Panasonic's 4K technology has changed photography for the better with new creative tools like 4K PHOTO, Focus Stacking, and Focus Stacking built-in.

Pro Video Quality
With the LUMIX FZ2500 4K evolves with the variety of practical functions video enthusiasts and professionals want:

• Cinema 4K: 4096 x 2160 / 24 fps
• QFHD 4K: 3840 x 2160 / up to 30 fps) video recording in MOV / MP4
• Ultra-high bitrate Full HD video recording at 200 Mbps (ALL-Intra) / 100 Mbps (IPB) without recording duration limit

Everything in the Right Place
A quick-stability grip minimizes hand fatigue while well-placed front/rear dual dials enable quick control over shutter speed and aperture. Plus, a supporting button, lever and switch layout provide intuitive, comfortable control for both photo and video shooting.

0.74x Large OLED Live View Finder
The OLED Live View Finder (2,360k-dot) provides exceptional visibility (10,000:1 contrast) for perfect framing in direct sunlight conditions. High 0.74X magnification (35mm camera equivalent) and a wide-viewing angle improves overall visibility.

A tilt/swivel rear touch feature-enabled monitor adds the freedom to capture unusual perspectives. Just touch to immediately set focus or release the shutter.

Large 1-inch 20.1 MP Sensor
The large 1-inch 20.1-megapixel 4K High Sensitivity MOS Sensor provides impressive details even at high ISOs (ISO12800 / Extended ISO25600), which enables impressive defocus with a shallow depth of field.

The Venus Engine
The LUMIX FZ2500 Venus Engine enables the high-quality image captures and high-speed signal processing required for 4K video recording, while sensitivity, gradation performance, resolution and color reproduction are dramatically improved.

20x Leica DC Vario-Elmarit Lens
A bright LEICA DC VARIO-ELMARIT lens (F/2.8-4.5) resists blurring, while its angle of view extends from 24mm wide-angle to 20X optical zoom.

This lens meets Leica's stringent standards in the MTF value and in the suppression of ghosts and flaring.

Hybrid Photo / Video Lens
An internal guide-pole mechanism provides smooth, stable zooming, and dramatically suppresses image shift. A galvanometer-drive iris - used in professional video cameras - smoothly catches up with sudden changes in brightness to assure smooth, seamless iris control, even when zooming.

Ultra High Speed DFD Focusing
DFD (Depth From Defocus) instantly calculates the distance to the subject to achieve ultra-fast focus lock even at 7 fps burst shooting with AFC or 12 fps burst shooting with AFS.

Macro Photography to 3cm
Stunning macro photos can be shot with minimum focusing distance of 3cm for flowers, insects and more.

Convenient Lens Barrel Controls
A dual-ring control system enables focusing and zooming. ND filter and three Fn lens barrel buttons offer smooth, convenient video operation. WB color temperature settings and slow and quick zoom settings can be assigned to the Fn buttons.

Built-in ND Filter
The lens barrel's quick access to ND filters which are essential for creative video shooting to maintain exposure levels with a fixed shutter speed or an open aperture in high brightness.

Unmissable Moments With 4K Photo
Panasonic 4K technology lets you turn video into photography with 4K PHOTO. Simply play back a 4K video sequence recorded at the blistering speed of 30fps to select your single best image for truly unmissable moments.

Adjust Focus After Shooting
The unique Focus Stacking function enables you to adjust the focus after shooting by layering and combining multiple images in-camera. Great for macro shots.

Live Output via HDMI
Real-time HDMI output (4:2:2/8 bit or 4:2:2/10 bit) to an external monitor is possible via an optional micro HDMI cable. A feature highly prized by professional video producers.

CINELIKE D and V Gamma
"CINELIKE D" and "CINELIKE V" video for rich, cinema-like gradation.

Optional V-Log L Upgrading
An optional Upgrade Software Key (sold separately) enables log video recording (V-Log L) with exceptional flexibility, as well as a wider dynamic range for color grading in the post-production process. It boasts a log characteristic with 12 stops, and the same characteristic curve and LUT (Look Up Table) can be used in common.

Video based GUI
Set the GUI to reflect the technical language of video for Shutter Duration/ISO, Angle/ISO, or Shutter Duration/dB.

Time Code
An SMPTE-compliant Time Code in either Rec Run or Free Run count-up method makes it easy to synchronize multiple video footage or sound sources in the post-production workflow. Drop Frame or Non-Drop Frame is also selectable in the 59.94Hz or 23.98Hz setting.

Global Video Formats
Built-in global video formats and bit rates are provided in four recording formats: AVCHD and MP4, or MP4 (LPCM) and MOV for editing ease. Bit rates up to 200 Mbps (ALL-Intra) or 100 Mbps (IPB), with no recording duration limit.

System frequencies: 59.94 Hz (NTSC), 50.00 Hz (PAL), or 24.00 Hz (CINEMA)

Microphone And Headphone Terminals
A variety of connection terminals are available: 3.5mm microphone jack, 3.5mm headphone jacks, and 2.5mm jack for remote control.

And with the DMW-MS2 Stereo Shotgun Microphone (sold separately), you can switch these settings on the camera menu: Stereo, Lens Auto, Shotgun, Super Shotgun and Manual.

Slow / Quick Motion
The VFR (Variable Frame Rate) lets you record videos with slow or quick motion, such as 120 fps / 5X in 24p playback, all in Full HD. The slow/quick motion function also lets you switch between 1/2X slow and 2X quick motion in a single video while recording.

Dolly Zoom
This technique zooms only the background, without changing the subject's size. A technique often used to express feelings, such as confusion, distress or surprise.
