Great Camera

Very good camera that takes great pictures. The only weakness would be the view finder, but it's not bad. I would definitely recommend the Panasonic GX-85 camera.

Went from DSLR to this

I'm a cinematographer, photographer, video editor and audio engineer with 25 years experience with each. I am doing more youtube videos and interviews, focusing on myself other than clients. I didn't want to lug my DSLR's around so I sold some gear, keeping my Canon 5K MKII and a couple lenses and went with this Panasonic. I am beyond impressed! It feels great, works great, and the video is outstanding! Great in low light without the pixelated video noise and that's with the kit lens. I get rave compliments on my work with this camera. So much better than canon, and that it coming from a canon guy. micro four thirds is it for me. you can definitely use this for client work if you want. check out my youtube channel, Rotter Studios, to see videos and photos. It's all I use for filming now.

Great camera

Excellent camera: small, light, great image quality, full of features. It perfectly embodies what micro 4/3 cameras should offer.

Great all around camera

Nice camera for general use. It is small but heavier than I expected, that should help with the stabilization though. The stabilization is better than I hoped it even keeps the videos from making people seasick to watch. The video quality is awesome and the 4k photo modes are great to capture action. The WiFi app is pretty good, I used it to get some great fireworks shots without getting out of my chair. The only letdown is the viewfinder. I can't seem to see the screen without eyestrain. I'm used to using a GX1 without an evf so it is not a deal breaker for me but it limits the usefulness somewhat. Overall I would highly recommend the GX85 if you plan on using the screen more than the evf. To get the best indoor shots pick up a prime lens. This pairs well with the 25mm 1.7 for not a ton of money.

Good image and video - Poor battery life

Typical micro 4/3rds image quality, pretty good detail and clean up to a good ~1600 ISO. Very good stabilized video. However battery life is not very good. Didn't last a day of shooting for me, even without flash and WiFi. Recommended if you're going to shoot casually and don't mind charging overnight like a smartphone. I like to shoot a lot of pictures and this didn't work for me.
