Questions & Answers

Richard V : Does this scanner come with silver fast software?MICHAEL S : Although a CD with software should have been included with the scanner, there was none in the box. I went to the Pacific Image web site and downloaded CyberViewX and with this software was able to operate the scanner successfully in all modes. I did have problems with the scanner latching up when I connected it to a high-speed desktop computer. However, I was able to scan all of my negatives and transparencies successfully with a slower notebook computer.
Shopper : Does the software include Photoshop 8 or 9?JIM B : According to the description it comes with Photoshop Elements 9.0; not standard Photoshop. I had no interest in Elements because I already had Photoshop.JELIZA P : The cyberview software that comes with it is what you'll actually be using to scan. When I bought my scanner it had Photoshop Elements 8, but I also bought mine 2 years ago. Given that the current version (in December of 2016) of Photoshop Elements is 15 and it's cheap, I'm not sure it will make much difference if it comes with PE8 or 9. (Basically, the really important part to notice is that it is Photoshop ELEMENTS and not full Photoshop.)
Rich J : What is the difference between the PI Prime Film 120 and Braun FS-120? The two scanners appear to be made by the same manufacture. I assume the FS-120 is an update?

Don’t waste your time with this product, it’s ancient technology

This scanner is slow and noisy. It did not come with any software, had to download the software. The software was for windows XP. I was so disappointed with this product that I packed it up and sent it back after about six hours of use. The technology is probably 10 years old. I would not recommend this product to anybody.

Great hardware! Now I can scan my 120 negatives.

The PF120 Pro scanner generates fantastic results. The bundled software is weak. I tried Vuescan but it generated intermittent banding so I am using Silverfast now.

Passible scanner

The scanner is slower which is what I would expect at this price point. It is quite loud when in operation. The 120 film holder is too short. The software is the big issue with the scanner. It is in need of some redesign. I have several issues including the fact that it doesn't hold the scan preferences consistently. The minimal amount adjustment and having it fail to properly scan faces even obliterating eyes. I tried the same file several times. Perhaps, with a redesign of the software and film holder it could be a great scanner.

Initial impression is good.

Though not tuned up, the Pacific Image scanner seem to do a very good job with scans of 120 film. Very easy to set up. Everything needed to start is provided. Manual is straight forward. Not the quickest scanner but fine if you are not in a rush.
