This film scanner is perfectly serviceable but relatively slow and clunky. The default software is downright terrible. 

As a scanner it works reasonably well, though registration of negatives is a very manual process and they only provide a single negative holder and a single slide holder (which means you can’t queue one up while the other one scans). 

I ditched the truly painful silverfish software for the less painful Vuescan which added to the cost of the scanner.

Decent scanner. Bad software. Fixable.

Not a bad scanner, I'm just dissatisfied since it came defective. There is purple vertical banding on the right side of each picture. I don't know if it was just my particular unit but I would be careful in deciding to buy one of these. If you decide to buy, I would recommend buying through a store since it can be easier to return(no need to pay return shipping). Overall though the film scans are nice and the SilverFast software is pretty nice (IMO), if it wasn't for the banding I would easily give this scanner 4-5 stars.
