Scott H : What tray will work in a PS5000 with slides less that 2mm?AL D : This tray works well, with any type of slide, I had issues with those that are really thick ones and sometimes also with old cardboard ones... PS5000 comes with this tray, no need to purchase an extra one.EMMA S : I don't think so. The PS5000 only works with one size of slide holder, but I think there might be a way to make it work. I haven't tried it, but I know you can purchase plastic slide holders that are the right size and you might be able to put your small slides in them. They snap together and are reusable.
Shopper : I just purchased this. A Pacific Image PowerSlide 5000 CCD Slides Scanner. Will this slide tray work with it?JANE R : Yes, it should work. I can't tell exactly from the picture, but this looks like the Braun Paximat S 50 slide tray that I use successfully with the PowerSlide 5000 an if it is, it should say "Paximat-MAGAZIN 50" on the underside. The instruction manual recommends the Paximat S 50 (white) tray for slides of 2-3.2mm thickness. For slides up to 2mm thickness, you can also use Paximat Magazine (black) tray, CS Magazine for CS/CS2-framed slides, and LKM Magazine. It also lists Universal Magazine DIN 108. Also "Glass slides attached to glass frames may cause complications due to the hard edges"RONALD G : not sureROY K : Very difficult to say just looking at a picture without specific dimensions, distance between slots, etc. Best way to tell for sure would entail comparing it to the tray that came with your Scanner and if that looks OK, then try to see if it will fit into the scanner and operate successfully.MARY M : It's what I use.EDMUND J W : Not having a part number for the pictured tray I have no way of telling if it will work. I did not use the trays that came with the scanner because the slide opening was to large. I had 3500 slides so I bought two Braun 100 S trays. The trays are round and hold 100 slides each. I had no problems using these trays as they are designed for 2mm slides. Because the trays are gravity feed be sure to keep them balanced. I found filling the tray was the easiest way, Lets say you have one box of slides left you can use 1 to 36 and 51 to 87 to balance the tray. Hope this helps Good LuckJANE B : I purchased a Pacific Image PS5000 slide scanner, a PS5000 Paximat slide tray and a Braun round 100 slide tray F/2MM thick. I don't know if the PS5000 scanner is perhaps the earlier version of the CCD? The Paximat slide tray works, but has trouble if the entire tray is loaded. I think that's because the weight makes it not balance for its entire trip through the scanner. The round tray also has balancing issues--it needs to be fully loaded to be balanced enough not to jam. The round tray doesn't feed cardboard slide mounts very well, so I use the Paximat tray for those.David C : Yes.

tedious

We did not get along. I returned it. While it did scan to begin, eating some old slides, and dropping out a screw, it did begin to scan slides. However the software is clunky, and eventually stopped working. The unit went into perpetual initialization, even after restarting the computer. When you have a lot of slide not in Euro style trays, it is slow to load.

Pacific Image Electroncs slide tray work

I am in the process of scanning old slide collections--about 8000 down and 10,000 to go. This combination of scanner and slide tray does the job. A few damaged or irregular slides won't go in, jam the machine, and it takes some time to get going again. Otherwise, I find nothing wrong with the slide tray with all ordinary slides. You will soon learn not to tip it the wrong way and spill all your slides!
