Review Summary

I have scanned approx 800 slides so far and no problems. Scan resolution is very good. I only have about 3000 slides to go. Scanning takes a bit of time, but it does the work while I am off doing other things. I use Hamrick Vuescan and the software is easy to learn. I would recommend this to anyone with many slides to digitize.

Not a bad product, it has its issues, simple things that shouldnt be difficult but they are, which create chances for the unit to break easily,

The unit seems like it works fine. The software pulls the images that are scanned into my Lightroom program. All good. But it took me hours to figure out the process. The manual really only talks about how to download the software. It is vague about how to load the slides, etc. It is also vague about how to cycle the machine to get the slides to scan. Without a step by step, some of the things the machine does seem quite peculiar, like the arm cycling through 50 or so cycles before the slide sleeve will move. I enjoy the product, but truly the lack of instructions are frustrating.

If there was a way to go to 4.5 stars, I would do it. I love the convenience of being able to load 50 slides at a time, I have about 500 rolls of 35 MM slides and I do a low-res scan that is relatively fast and provides good results. From there I filter-out the junk and save the best shots for an ultra high-res, dust and scratch removal scan which take quite some time. I start at night. In the morning I have great scans and I did not have to intervene at all in the process. There are two downsides to this product; A) the manual and B) an occasional jam.

So far approx. 3000 slides, maybe 4 mis-feeds. Generally very good scans. Wish I could load Kodak carousel, but knew this was not possible when purchasing. Quite satisfiee

This is a good machine, but the CyberView X software that comes with it has usage problems that I have never been able to completely overcome. I have found that it helps a bit if I do a Force Quit on on CyberView before I start scanning a new set of slides, then restart it. But one thing I have not been able to overcome is its habit of remembering the number of slides it previously scanned, and then having to step down from that number of slides (e.g. 45 slides) by moving the slide controller 45 times until the count is back to one, then finally it will start scanning the number one slide of the next set. This wastes a lot of time.

I'm scanning at 2500dpi, good enough for an 8x10 print at 300dpi, fine for my purposes. The scanner will do 10,000dpi, 16x the resolution. At 2500, each slide takes about 1-1/2 minutes, or a little over an hour for a batch of 50. The resulting images are spot on. I am very, VERY, pleased with this instrument.
