Surprisingly great
Such a fun camera, despite being a victim of expectations. At first I wasn't going to buy it, but the value with all the film bundled in convinced me. Honestly the lack of autofocus is an adjustment, but I got used to it. And I was surprised at the quality of the negatives when I scanned my first roll. Surprised how much I love it!
I absolutely love this camera way more than I expected. Like one of the other reviewers, at first, I wasn't going to get it, but as I looked at it a little bit more plus the extra film included with adorama bundle convinced me. And I have been having so much fun and enjoyment with it! I like the size, the weight, the tactile feel and sounds of it, as well as its looks. New PENTAX 17 compact film camera.
The new PENTAX 17 is a compact film camera that ties classic photography charm with modern magic. Every feature is brought forward with an intention to provide a one-of-a-kind shooting performance, both for beginners and expert photographers.
In addition to the distinctive image quality created only by a film camera, the design of the PENTAX 17 incorporates manual operations unique to film photography - a selectable zone-focus system, manual film winding, manual film advance lever, and exposure compensation and ISO sensitivity adjustments, each With their own dials. It has a retro-inspired design, with the top and bottom covers made of a solid but lightweight magnesium alloy to optimize the camera body's rigidity.
Double the Shots with Half-Frame Format
The PENTAX 17 gives two 17mm x 24mm pictures within a single 35mmformat (36mm x 24mm) film frame, thanks to it being a half-frame camera. This gives users double the photo count per roll with vertical images akin to smartphone photos.
Choose Your Focus
This new film camera offers several manual operations to make sure photographers are always in charge. This includes a selectable zone-focus system where one can choose the different zones or distances they want to focus on.
Manual Film Winding and Advance Lever
Part of the invisible contract of owning a film camera is you agree to wind the film to the next frame after taking a photo. With the PENTAX 17, you get to do just that. There's a lever for it!
Newly Developed Lens + HD Coating
Old classic camera style meets a new lens in the PENTAX 17. It is a 25mm F3.5 lens, equivalent to a 37mm lens in the 35mm format. To guarantee users clarity and sharpness, the lens is treated with High-Definition coating.
Albada-type Optical Viewfinder
The viewfinder you'll find with the newest film camera is an Albada-type bright frame finder. You can also compose close-up shots more accurately with its close-up visual field compensation frame.
Automatic Adjustment Based on Lighting Data
