I own this monocular & it is truly a Great piece. Great color, contrast, clarity. Bright image. Great magnification. Stable. Seriously, from 100 yards out you can see the bugs flying around distant trees, birds in the low clouds not visible to the naked eye, or drool on a dog's mouth at the dog park. The screw-in microscope attachment is equally fantastic. You can see all of the small spheres in an insect's eyes or detail in the transparent wings. On a $5 bill you can see every micro-etching. It is well built, metal with rubber casing. It has a nice padded case that attaches to your belt loop. It is great for use with glasses, contacts, or the naked eye. The metal threads have been machined well, so the screw-in close-viewer glides into place and remains snug. There are 2 downsides. 1) The rubber lens caps are very loose & fall off easily. You could lose them. 2) It is a little heavy. Not something you can tuck into your pants pocket, but would work in a lot of jacket pockets. If you want a monocular for the theater or high school basketball game, this probably isn't your eyepiece. If you want it for the cheap seats at a football, soccer, or baseball game, to take to the mountains, or to trace the distant hawk or eagle, this is your monocular, and it is at a good price.

The Pentax 8x42 Monocular is one of our most unique products. Designed for the birder, photographer, hunter or biologist or anyone in the outdoors. This is essentially one piece of an excellent pair of binoculars. The 8x42 monocular is a high quality single tube with CL/FC/BMC/FBMC multi-coatings and a BAK4 prism. The exit pupil is 5.05mm and the eye relief is a whopping 17mm. The field of view is 393 ft at 1,000 yards with an angle of view of 7.5 degree. The relative brightness is 25.5 and the minimum focus is 2m. It is waterproof under JIC class 6 specifications and is dunk able to 1m for 3 minutes.
A monocular lets you keep one eye on the object and one eye on the scene around you. Let's say you are birdwatching, you are able to spot the bird with the monocular and then if it flies away, you can follow it with the open eye until it lights on another branch or flies into another tree. Same holds true for other interests like hunting or sporting events.
The most unique feature of this Monocular is that includes a magnifier or Loupe. This loupe screws to the outer objective of the monocular and becomes a field microscope of sorts. With the magnifier added, the monocular becomes a 32x close-up wizard. If you are into bugs or planet life, this magnifier allows you to increase the actual size by 32x. The magnifier design allows you to place the monocular and magnifier directly over or on the subject matter and with the holder, it allows daylight to illuminate the object.
