Shopper : charging system comes with camera? separate purchase?JAMES A : It comes with the camera.DWIGHT J : Hi, I purchased a Pentax WG2 and it did come with one battery and a charger. Since the WG2 camera is live view it discharges the battery pretty quickly so I bought a spare battery. The battery indicator on the camera is very visible and I believe it is very accurate so my batteries get recharged at about 25 % remaining.BERNICE W : The Pentax WG-II camera come with a battery and charging unit.JERRY M : The charger comes with camera and Li battery. I suggest buying an additional Li battery. Keep one in the camera and have a fully charged back-up in the charger.ROBERT B : I used the charger which came with the camera. I carry two or three batteries for every shoot. For this camera I have two batteries.
And I never start a shoot without placing a fully charged battery in the camera the night before. The GPS in the camera tends to discharge the battery fairly quickly if it is left turned on inside the camera. There is a menu selection to leave the GPS either on or off.DIANE J. H : Yes the charger and one battery came with camera. I bought one extra battery, this was a gift for someone else.WK A : The charger does come with the camera.
On a side note, I find that my camera runs down the battery if I leave it in the camera, so I take it out when not in use. When the battery is not in the camera, it seems to hold a charge for a very long time, hence I find that I didn't really need the spare battery. I keep the battery in in a plastic bag in the little case that I got for the camera. (The WG-1 was bought specifically for micro/macro and I rarely use it for anything else.)
I notice in the comments that a 'con' was listed that the battery often needs recharging. It only takes a few seconds to set the time and date after the battery is re-inserted into the camera, but my battery only needs charging once a year or so.MICHAEL G : The camera comes with one battery and an AC charger. If you want a backup battery then you need to buy a battery separately, but no need to buy a charger.
Shopper : how many time the battery need to be fully reccharg?JAMES A : It depends on how often you are using your camera. When I use my camera every day, the battery will last me anywhere from 3 to 5 days. That is why I purchased 2 batteries, so one can charge while I am using the other battery. Hope this helps!EUGENE E : I bought this as a gift and I do not know haw many times it can be recharged. Sorry.MANUEL P : I don't exactly understand the question but I continue to use them and the fully recharge every time. I bought 2 of these batteries and I have yet to have to switch them out when on vacation for a week at a time with moderate use.
I hope this helps.JOE R : The battery if completely drained take roughly 1-2 hours to recharge.ROBERT K : Purchased my Pentax camera in late Spring 2012. Took underwater pix of my granddaughters, and later a number of pix in surf and on beach in Maine, about 50 photos total in a two-month period. Haven't used the camera at all during the Winter, and have not yet charged the battery, but it still has some life left. Hope this helps.JERRY M : Battery recharges fast and holds charge for a sufficient amount of time. I would recommend it.GERALD W : It has a good shelf life. The need to recharge depends entirely on the "ON TIME" and the number of flashes, their intensity, etc. I generally recharge when the thought occurs to me. . . can't remember the last time the battery went down while I was using the camera.
Shopper : How many hours is the battery life?WK A : The Pentax Optio WG-1 camera seems to draw down the battery even with the camera turned off. The D-L192 is a relatively small battery, so I have found that if I remove the battery from the camera, it holds it's charge for at least 2 or 3 weeks (Probably more), but if I leave it in the camera it runs down in three or four days (or sooner) without use.
That being said, I have never run down the battery while actually using the camera. I feel confident that one could shoot three or four hundred images over the course of a half to full day. I personally have shot nearly 200 images over a two hour hike.
I bought this camera/battery to shoot macro images because it will focus down to about 5mm and has the LEDs around the lens to illuminate the subject when shooting extreme closeups. Since the camera does not shoot RAW, it is my 3rd or 4th choice for other kinds of photography. I bought the spare battery thinking I would use it the same way I do my SLR batteries; when I notice the battery is close to discharged, I charge the the next one. That doesn't work due to the battery going flat in the camera.
Note that Canon at least, recommends that their batteries be stored discharged. My Canon batteries typically are in the camera for a month or two shooting 6 or 7 hundred stills. This is why I wait to charge the battery until it is needed. Video depletes the battery sooner of course.
So, either charge the battery before use, or remove it when the camera is not in use. The down side is that you have to set the date/time every time you put the battery in, but that is very simple to do. Other than that, the camera/battery combination works very well.
PS
I had to include the camera information because I don't know if this battery is used in other Pentax cameras that don't run down the battery when not in use. Or perhaps my WG-1 is defective, I don't know.
HTH.KAREN P : To whom it may concern,
I am a fisheries biologist and often spend a week at a time out in the field in both warm summer and cold fall/winter conditions in Montana. I use the D-LI92 in a Pentax Optio WG-1 to take many photos to document fish sampling and restoration projects including under water photos in ice cold mountain streams. These cold weather and water conditions can significantly reduce battery life. While in the field, I have no way of recharging a battery. Despite the cold and inability to recharge for a week at a time, I have not missed a photo due to a low battery. To ensure that I don't have any battery problems, I do two things. First, I carry a backup DI-LI92 and secondly I recharge the batteries as soon as I return to the office from the field. Although, I haven't timed the battery life, these measures ensure that I never have a problem. I do not know if this battery has a "memory" and whether or not it loses charge capacitiy over time as I've only had the camera and battery since June 2011. I can say that the rechargable batteries in my old second generation Pentax Optio have a much reduced life after about five years of use.
Hope this helpsCHARLES L : Sorry, I cannot tell you for sure. I rarely use the camera and recharge the batteries on a regular basis whether they need it or not.EDWARD S : I don't know that I can be specific, but it is excellent. Recently took a trip to the islands and shot hundreds of underwater photos and didn't have to recharge even once. This was in my Pentax WG-1
