I can't say enough how much I love this camera.I'm a well known wedding photographer in my area, and when people ask me what camera I use they are always so surprised I'm not using the typical canon/nikon like everyone else. The images it produces are amazing, I love using the tilt screen with facial recognition (so helpful in a busy reception!), and the dynamic range is out of this world.

Was surprised that most of the lenses I have will work on this camera. Also I didn't think I really needed the moveable rear LCD, boy was I wrong. It's great! Its been rainy here almost every day so I haven't had a chance to take it out to get some good bird shots.

This is the almost perfect camera for night photography, landscape, dSLR astrophotography. Why not perfectly perfect? Wish it were a bit lighter weight. ** NO ** star EATER problem like the damn Sony A7MESS. Beware, the Mark 1 has better image quality than newer mark 2.

I have been a Pentaxian for 38 years owning K1000 (Still works), PZ1P (still works) and a 645II! I have at one time or another had almost every single DSLR that Pentax has produced. After saying all this I use my Cameras for everything, Nature, Studio Work, Weddings, Enviromental Portraits! I love my K1 it does what I ask of it and gives me quality photos. Never sell yourself or the Camera short use the K1 for any photo work you can think of

Built like a tank and shoots like one too. Amazing camera, the DR out of the images is some of the best out of anything I have owned. The features this comes with was really my selling point. The astrotracer is really fun to play with, and it does great time lapses.

Top-notch image quality, intuitive menu, useful GPS geo-tagging, quick auto-focus (faster than the K3), legendary Pentax weather-sealing. APS-C lenses work well, although at a lower resolution than that of full-frame lenses. Pentax’s wi-fi system (Image Sync) allows operation of the K1 from a phone or tablet. It is less refined at transferring photos, but a proprietary app accelerates this process. Even the maligned video mode seems to provide crisp clips for this non-videographer. A lot of camera for a fair price, and the weather sealing allows me to capture images in conditions that other photographers eschew.

The dynamic range and high-ISO performance of this camera are hard to top, especially at the price point. Images look printable at least up to ISO 6400. The camera meters and provides focus assistance with manual lenses, and with Pentax's in-body shake reduction, all of my lenses have image stabilization. even the ones from the 1960s. Stabilization is better than on my old K-7. Shake reduction was the main reason that I switched to Pentax from Nikon - buying a new Pentax body upgrades all of my old lenses! I'm not a sports shooter. I can't really speak to the autofocus tracking performance. It is snappy and pretty accurate in single-focus mode with Pentax-F lenses from the early 90s. I wish it had a built-in flash instead of the GPS. The bundle accessories are all fine, except for the tripod, which is junk. I haven't tried the software. But it was free, so I can't complain.

This camera is amazing. After reading countless reviews and comparing it to competitors, I'm happy to say the k-1 is everything I could ask for. It has great lowlight capabilities, I put it at ISO 3200 in my dim living room and was impressed to get very usable photos. The dynamic range is superior. Without an OCF, where my k5 would blow out my skies, the k1 captures the beautiful blue skies. I've been putting it through the ringer in situations with lousy light and the camera keeps impressing me. If you're on the fence about this camera give it a shot (pun intended), you won't be disappointed.

No big complaints but I did break mine (tripod fell) and it seemed to break easier than my K-3 which has survived a similar fall. The top where the GPS is seems like it's the weak point and that is where mine cracked. It was a sad day. It's a pleasure to use and I like almost everything about it. Lots of buttons for quick access to commonly used functions. For landscapes and portraits it really excels. Action is doable but it's not quite as at home in that environment.. My hit rate with a bike race is better with a K-3. AF points are crowded in the middle of the frame and the buffer can take a while to clear. The raw files are great to work with and the image quality is amazing. Pixelshift is not just hype and can capture amazing detail in static shots.

I was a life long canon user intil i found this jewel. For the price of the K1 body, i dont think there is another camera on the market that comes close to the features and build quality. What swayed me towards this initially was the weather sealing and the reputation pentax has for that said quality. I mainly shoot nature, so i am out in the elements almost exclusively while shooting. The camera is a tank, and with the 300mm da* attached, i may need to start working out again to be able to run around with this all day! Some of the features dont seem as well developed as the competition. For example, i have a sony a6000 with built in wifi and it is very easy and fast to transfer an image directly to my phone and do a quick edit to throw onto instagram if i want to share something from my day. The pentax app on the phone is a bit lacking, but it does still work, just not as intuitive. The astrotrackingfeature actually does seem to work on wide field astrophotography, but i seem to still get a little star trailing towards the edges. Possibly its user error since ive only tried this 2x, but even if this is just how it is, you can crop 15 percent off the edges and still have a large image from the 36megapixel sensor. Auto focus seems a bit slow, but again this is for landscapes mainly, and i still have been able to capture some quick moving birds. I bought the battery grip extender as well and it does help make the camera easier to handle and just makes it look even more professional. I would definitely recommend this camera to any nature photographer, but if fast action is your main subject, you would probably want something with a more advanced AF system.

Great images with fast, accurate AF. Live view AF is OK... Not great - but definitely usable. Image stabilization is exceptional and having owned all 3 at one time or the other, I prefer the images from the K-1 to the Sony A7rII or A99MKII. Great camera!

I have owned 4 pentax cameras and the K 1 top them all. It is flexable. I can use all my old lenes. The camera like all i weather sealed. The full frame give more ability to crop and enhance. There are more options and more fast buttons and dials. It is priced right and take sharp beautiful pictures. Can't ask for more.

I purchased the Pentax K-1 bundle as I am a big believer in taking things offered for free. The camera is great. I am hoping to put it to good use soon. I have previously ordered cameras and lenses from Adorama. I have never been disappointed with Adorama. They are professional and will work to help their customers.

I recently bought the K-1 and I am not at all disappointed. In my limited use so far, it performs just as described. I wish there were a few more FF lenses available in the k- mount, but I guess those will come later.

Its everything you'd hope for from Pentax in a full frame. Only improvement it needs is faster, more accurate auto focus although to be fair I have my old screw drive 31mm limited prime on it and haven't tried any other lens yet.

Simple and sweet...great camera...good low light capability, fantastic resolution sensor...easy and usable layout and love the extra "Easy Dial"...OK for normal sports but for fast action better off not using full frame as will speed up the camera and still give you great photos.

I love my Pentax K-1 and this kit was really worth it. You will get two spare batteries for a total of three, plus the 64g SD card and video light make this lot worth the extra. I already own a tripod and have my own software, so I cannot review those items as I have not used them. Pros: The K-1 is a super sharp and superb camera for landscape and portrait photography. Clarity/ resolution and colors are top notch and on par with Similar Nikon full frame models. I love the quick access dial, I almost never have to go into the menu. The ergonomics are also very comfortable. As for the kit, The Samsung SD card writes quickly and the video light is amazing. The fact that you get two extra batteries is a huge plus!! Cons: If you are looking for a fast action or sports camera the K-1 may not be the best choice. It can be slow at auto focusing on moving objects. As for the kit, the Traffic 24/7 bag that comes with the kit will not fit a the K-1 comfortably. It is hard to get it in and out of the bag and no other lenses will fit in the bag. The tripod is decent, but in the lower end of quality. It would get you by if you did not own one already. Still I would recommend this kit to anyone looking at purchasing the Pentax K-1

I love the camera--5 Stars+! That said, the "Bundle" that came with it was 2 Stars at best. In particular: the camera case was not only cheap, but the K-1 with any descent lens would not fit in it; the tripod was so plastic flimsy that I would not trust it to hold any but the lightest of cameras; no one ordering a K-1 would use the SW pkg as they are most likely already using a superior product (LightRoom or PS); the video light does not come with a battery--really!--and I am having trouble locating one; the card reader is USB 2.0--slow-w-w. Have not tried the 2 spare batteries yet but my past experience with many well know 3rd party batteries is not good and would not expect much from these either. It was not all bad, the Samsung 64GB SD card was good as was the Memory Card Wallet and Cleaning Kit. So you ask, why did I purchase the bundle--because Adorama was selling the K-1 Body with the Bundle for ($) and the K-1 Body alone/WITHOUT the Bundle was ($). . . , and no it did not make any sense to me either but saving $ works for me. Last thought, the way the K-1 was packed at the bottom of the long cardboard box that contained all the other Bundle items leads me to fear that a hard bottom down landing could have been damaging to a $2K camera while the rest of the cheap bundle would have been OK. If I had it to do over, I would have much preferred them to ship the K-1 in a strong double box along and ship the rest of the stuff that didn't amount to much (cost-wise) in a separate box. I'm guessing in the long run that Adorama would save themselves some damaged goods returns as a result . . . .

ALL of your older K-mount lenses are now back to life as the front-end of this amazing 36 megapixel chip and a DSLR body--now a bit heavier than most every previous Pentax SLR. Heavy yes, but fully-featured. No 4K movie recordings, but topnotch 1080P30 or 60i, and despite stereo mic input and a headphone jack, this is primarily a still camera.

Worth the long wait for a Pentax full frame
By Nathan B.
I've been shooting for about a year and a half with a Pentax K-50, and have accumulated a collection of old glass. I was eagerly awaiting the K-1 to launch and to upgrade to a full frame. This camera was worth the wait. This camera is solidly built and feels good in the right hand. The optical viewfinder is excellent and allows overlays of useful leveling and focus point /peaking information. The shutter speed feels very smooth, and is both quieter and faster than the K-50. I have not had a...

Outstanding.
By BRUCE S.
I have been shooting Pentax digital starting with their Kx, moving to the K5IIs, then the K3. When the K1 was announced it was the next logical step for my business, and in the short time I have had it, it has not disappointed. Dynamic range is off the charts. Shake reduction is at least 6 stops now. I've shot at 180mm, 1/25sec (yes, 1/25 not 1/125) at F11 ISO 200 with crystal clear results. Pushing that to 1/10S, F16, ISO100 and 200mm minimal shake was introduced. That's amazing. I've use...

The Pentax K-1 takes greatness to the next level. As the first full frame DSLR engineered under the PENTAX brand, the K-1 brings outstanding performance, operability and affordability to photographers. With its large 36.4 megapixel CMOS image sensor, the K-1 incorporates all of the performance of a high-resolution full frame 35mm digital camera as well as all of the unique PENTAX-original features and technologies that photographers have become accustomed to, in a compact, rugged, weather-resistant body.

High-resolution, fine-gradation images supported by approximately 36.4 effective megapixels
The K-1 features an AA filterless design that prioritizes image resolution. Coupled with the new PRIME IV imaging engine, capable of 14-bit RAW-format image recording. The K-1's unique full frame sensor and imaging engine design also allows for super-high-sensitivity shooting up to ISO 204800, producing beautiful, high-resolution images.
In-body SR mechanism assures optimal shake reduction performance
The SR II five-axis mechanism enables accurate control of the large full-frame image sensor with all compatible PENTAX interchangeable lenses.* In addition to camera shake caused by pitch and yaw, it effectively compensates for camera shake caused by horizontal and vertical shift, as well as camera shake caused by roll, which is difficult to deal with by lens-installed shake reduction mechanisms. Even when taking a panning shot, this system automatically detects the direction of the camera's movement, and efficiently controls the SR unit to always produce the best image possible.
Pixel Shift Resolution system with a new motion correction function
The K-1 uses the latest super-resolution technology, which captures four images of the same scene by shifting the image sensor by a single pixel for each image, and then synthesizes them into a single composite image. Since the K-1's SR unit has a flexible design that tilts the image sensor unit in all directions, it provides a host of handy shooting functions, including auto level compensation, image-composition fine-adjustment, and ASTRO TRACER, which simplifies advanced astronomical photography using a built-in GPS module.
Flexible Tilt-type LCD monitor to accommodate various shooting angles
The K-1 features a newly designed, flexible tilt-type LCD monitor, which tilts horizontally, vertically or diagonally with a single action, without deviating from the lens's optical axis. 35 degrees of horizontal and 44 degrees of vertical adjustment can be achieved, the LCD panel can even be laid flat up or down. The 3.2-inch LCD monitor features a tempered-glass front panel for added durability and a unique air-gapless construction effectively reduces reflection.
Newly Developed SAFOX 12 with 33 sensor points and full-frame-proportioned AF frame
The SAFOX 12 AF sensor module features 33 AF sensors (25 cross-type sensors positioned in the middle). The center sensor and the two sensors located just above and below it are designed to detect the light flux of an F2.8 lens, making it easy to obtain pinpoint focus on a subject when using a large-aperture lens.
Upgraded Pentax real-time scene analysis system, with application of artificial intelligence technology
The K-1's advanced PENTAX Real-Time Scene Analysis System performs near instant analysis of exposure, color, movement and other factors. Combining with a breakthrough artificial intelligence technology called deep learning, the K-1 instantly optimizes settings for even the most difficult shooting situations.
Easy-To-Focus Optical Viewfinder with nearly 100-percent field of view
Newly developed for its 35mm full-frame design, the K-1's optical viewfinder provides a nearly 100-percent field of view and an approximately 0.7-times magnification. A Natural Bright Matt III focusing screen allows ease of focusing and a true-to-life rendition of defocused areas in the viewfinder image.
Operation Assist LED Lighting
The GPS feature records shooting location, facing direction, and date and time into image data. Electronic Compass records the shooting direction, and Astro Tracer combines these features with SRII shake reduction to capture rock-steady images of heavenly objects in the night sky without streaking or blurring during long exposures.
