I've used the K7 for over a year for a variety of projects including music magazine covers and downhill mountain bike racing. It is the most useful camera I have ever owned. It takes some time to get to know all the functions and a solid understanding of the principles of photography in order to get the most out of it, but anyone can produce fine images without getting too technical.

This is a great camera - I've shot weddings, car races, even some amazing astronomy events - ALWAYS a great result. Like the more dust/water resistant build of this camera. Actually bought a "high end" DSLR and sent it back and bought this - no regrets! Simple enough in several modes that anyone can use it - capable of most any advanced use you can imagine!

If you have the knowledge this camera is up to any challenge asked of it .A suggestion : Have your local printer enlarge the operator's manual 2x (8 1/2x11) This will double the type set and allow you to make notes where req'd .I prefer manual oper.which allows complete control by me of any image selected. It's a beautiful people camera .Please design a hood for the LCD.Thank you

This many pro features in a moderate price DSLR is quite unique. The UI has no training wheels to get in the way of the educated user. This camera does have a slightly older sensor, meaning less low light performance and lower pixel count, but these are still quite good. Reviews need to compare something, so they make a big deal over such minor differences. The K-5 solves these but $$$. Bottom line; I simply love the way the pictures look, the controls are very quick (vastly more useable than similar PP cameras), pictures nearly always come out, the viewfinder is terrific, it is rugged and weather sealed. As a tool, these are what count.

Beach vacation photos turned out great - landscape, wildlife, people. Loved the easy to use menus and quick change options (Examples: No going through lots of hoops to make an fast change of ISO, bracketing, going from programed modes to auto by just pushing the green button) Just found it so very easy to use. Wasn't at all concerned about sand or sea issues due to the WR features of camera and lens. Still haven't tried all the bells and whistles (digital filters, video). Also used the K7 to take pictures of flowers in the yard. Color was spot on. Macro-type photos were wonderful using the kit lens (18-55 mm).

Waited a long time to step up to a DSLR and glad I did. The Pentax K 7 has everything I could ever want. Have this camera for less than 2 weeks and haven't tried all the special features (HDR, in-camera processing, special shooting modes, etc.), but love using it. It's lighter weight, smaller size and ergonomic design are extremely comfortable in my small hand and make it easy to hand-hold. Love the color and sharpness produced. It has more features than anyone could dream of. Can use older Pentax lenses which made this an economical purchase for me. The only thing I don't like so far is that I have to clean the LCD a lot.

All of the in camera features are great, ex. priority sensitivity, color adjustments, ect. Huge clear LCD screen. Takes video and has an audio jack. I can use my old Pentax lenses. My only issue is auto focus can be slow, and hard to see through the viewfinder (not the LCD view finder) in darker setting. I would recommend for the serious hobbyist.

Pentax is sooo underrated. I bought a K20 and love it. I bought the K7 just for the in-camera HDR feature. As Aman's shot shows -- you cannot flipping beat it for the price. Hey, Aman, did you shoot that from Horseshoe Bay? Nice one. 2 stops per bracket, +/-?

I bought this camera because I wanted a well built camera that wasn't as pricey as the other $2000+ in its class. Well, it was put to the test. I was doing some long exposure work during low tide, a sleeper wave caught me off guard and knocked the tripod over into a sandy, receding wave. While the shutter was still open, the camera plunged entirely into the water. I immediately turned it off, pulled that battery and hurried home. The camera is absolutely fine, and the sand that was grinding around inside the lens is not there at all anymore. The seals kept all water and sand out. This camera is a tank, my first DSLR, I mostly shoot medium format film. I would get one if I were you. Also, attached is an image taken with the cameras HDR filter, the only thing I did to this picture was tweak the levels in photoshop.
