Questions & Answers

DENNIS D : Will the card work with K-50?SHAWN C : Sorry about the slow response. Just found the invite to answer this q today. Yes, it will work... partially. You should have access to your images but that is about all. I don't believe you will be able to control camera functions. This card is more appropriate for the Pentax K-3. If you plan to eventually upgrade to a K-3, this card is a good idea... otherwise, consider the less expensive eye-fi card.WILLIAM Z : I don't have a K-50, so I can't answer.KEVIN G : For more details, I would suggest looking in the Pentax forum that this company supports, but I believe the ability to use the WiFi to transfer images will work, but one will not be able to operate the camera functions. There are slightly less costly options that will allow WiFi transfer as well.CHARLES H : Sorry, I've used it with a K-3 only.DAVE S : Not according to the specs. I have a K-3, and it works with that. I don't have a K-50 to test.DARRYL L : The remote live view/capture functionality of the (16gb Pentax) flucard isn't supported by the K-50. You can still use it for storing photos, though, and you should be able to connect to it wirelessly to browse photos.
Shopper : will the flu card work with k5?KIN C : Only as a regular WiFi-enabled SD card. The advanced "tethering" features will not be available.ANDREW R : I believe that this card is specific to the K3.

Very Limited functionality

It serves to control and remotely view the camera from a phone, tablet or computer. The resolution is very limited, if you have a 1080p device, it won't use the full resolution, not even close. It's limited to it own wifi network, you cannot use it on an existing network. And I was really hoping for eye-fi like functionality where the files automatically get pushed to my computer, but there's no auto push and without access to my home network, it couldn't do it anyway. I am sorely disappointed with this and returned it.

Works great, does what it is supposed to

The Pentax Flu Card works well, faster and more reliably than (at least on Pentax cameras) than the Eye-Fi Pro X2 I've used with the K-5 and K-3 in the past. Of course, it has the remote control features, and live view that the Eye-Fi doesn't support. Overall, a great product, and just what I was hoping for.

Pentax Flu Card Review

Bought a Pentax K-3 camera Christmas 2013 and have bad the Flu fever since! The card arrived early March and have been doing some cursory testing. I had to visit the main Pentax (English) Japan site to download the user guide and supplement. The card is meant to work with Chrome and Safari browsers. I have Chrome on a Android Asus Tablet and Alienware 64-bit laptop. On either device you only get a minimum of the features available for remote control and it's a bit haphazard in operation. I borrowed the wife's iPad Air with Safari...now that's more like it, all features available just as shown in the user guide. Excellent. Wireless setup between the camera and external device is easy. Operation of the camera via the iPad is really good, via Chrome, not so good at all. So far, Flu Card is recommended for Safari users.

The Pentax 16GB FluCard Pro SDHC Memory Card allows for wireless connectivity between a Pentax K-3 DSLR camera and either a mobile device or computer. It allows for remotely changing settings such as ISO, shutter speed, aperture, exposure compensation, and focus points. Additionally, it can connect via a wireless LAN connection to compatible smartphones, computers, and tablets for acting as a live view display.

The user can also use a web browser to check the live view image by visiting a designated web page. They can then release the K-3's shutter and review the images recorded on the card.
