Excellent! Highly recommend!

Excellent EDC camera! Very portable, packs a punch with capabilities and APS-C depth & clarity. My only downside is battery life. Each battery is good for 100-125 shot. Carrying extra batteries is easy and it can easy recharge on power bank while traveling.

Ricoh GRIIIx is a beast !

Absolutely love this little beast. Great sensor, fantastic colors SOOC and the ability to tweak recipes for instant JPEG download to phone and into social media are a real bonus. The portability and discreteness of this camera are it's real values, I end up taking it out most of the time in my pocket, and very few people care what you're doing when you can't bring a camera up to your eye.

A Real Gem of a Camera!

I have had this camera now for well over two years, and I am extremely pleased. As someone who has both the III and the IIIx, I will say I am glad to have both, especially as most of my work is not street photography, and a wide angle is not necessary, so I enjoy the versatility. The speed, image quality, and the fun aspect of the colour profiles all make the camera a joy to use. One aspect that I will note, is that as a woman with small hands, this camera is much more comfortable for me than even some other compact cameras, though others might find it small or difficult to grasp securely. It s so light, i can happily walk around for hours with the camera in hand (I heartily recommend a wrist strap). I have never found the battery life to be an issue, simply because it's easy enough to keep a few spares in my bag. I have found the backscreen easy enough to use, even in bright sunlight, and I especially like how small and unobtrusive it is, as I am quite shy about offending or upsetting someone if I am doing street photography.

A truly great pocketable camera

Although it's not the most convenient camera to use, especially because of the lack of viewfinder and tilting screen, it fits just fine in a pants pocket. I can carry around a high-quality camera with the ease of a cell phone. The lens and sensor Are well matched

LOVE MY RICOH

I freaking love this little camera. It is perfect for every day carry and the raw files are crazy good for such a compact camera. I can throw it in my backpack and not feel like I am missing any photo ops on hikes. The macro setting is so fun too for small flowers. I loved it so much I got one for my sister in law. My only recommendation is to buy extra batteries, it will drain them pretty quick.

Delivers

I have long missed a true compact since the film days, but have not been able to find one due to a lack of form factor and the right lens. The GR IIIx delivers. The 40mm lens is just perfect for a compact, bringing me back to the Contax T2 days. In combination with the sensor and Ricoh algorithm, the results are some unique and appealing image files. This all fits in your pocket. All this considered, the asking price is very reasonable

Worth Every Penny!

Absolute quality camera! So fun and easy to shoot. The "Positive Film" filter is my favorite if shooting jpeg. Feels perfect in the hand. The images are super sharp. I highly recommend the Ricoh leather case model number GC-11 for protection and to avoid dust in the lens. Also the thumb grip from JJC is 100% a must. Worth every penny!

The perfect upgrade to the already great GRIII

Love this little camera! I've owned (a couple copies of) the GRIII, but always struggled with the 28mm focal length. This is the answer. The lens is tac-sharp when stopped down, great falloff when shot wide open. Definitely not the same street shooter as the GRIII due to the focal length, but I am in love with this one. I bring it everywhere - the main advantage!

Camera Great, Adorama Sucks!

The camera is great, however the ProOptic screen protector that was also an item that I BOUGHT in this did not fit. Adorama claims it will fit and is arguing with me about how the ProOptic screen saver should fit and its been 3 weeks dealing with tech support tell me I'm wrong. I just asked for a replacement or a refund and I cant get either. Horrible customer service.

Small but mighty

I bought this camera because I needed a truly pocketable camera (not just compact like an X100V, but truly actually fits in a pocket). Considering how incredibly tiny it is, the image quality is superb, and really shines in contrasty direct sunlight. The biggest complaint I have is with the auto focus selection points, it often misses focus even when it should be clear what I'm pointing it at. My primary camera is a canon R5, so I'm spoiled by its lightning fast AF, and it's not fair to compare this to that. But really, that's my only complaint! Weather sealing would be nice, but not the end of the world. Would definitely recommend if you want something light, compact, but still great images.

The best 40mm lens I've used, on my favorite camera ever made

I've been a GR fan for a while. I've also been a fan of the 40mm field of view. The 40mm lens on this camera is probably my favorite ones I've used. It is even sharper than the GRiii, and its sharp wide open, even in the corners. The contrast and compression has this beautiful look to it that's hard to describe. Other than the lens, it's a gr. It's a great camera. It's not for everyone, but it's the best every day carry camera you can get, and the 40mm of the X is probably a little easier to use for most people. I used to have fuji cameras, but I've since sold all my cameras and now only have the GRiii and iiiX. If you managed to find out about this camera, and you're here, looking at it, you probably won't regret picking it up. It's amazing.

A great take-anywhere camera for the serious photographer

My main camera is a Sony A7RIV, and while it is svelte for a full frame camera, it is not small enough to be a take-anywhere camera. I typically shoot only with primes for the more limited depth of field and the ?constraint? of being limited to only one focal length. I?ve had my eye on the GR for years, but I never pulled-the-trigger, because if I only have one focal length I prefer 40 to 50 mm. The GRIIIx fits that bill perfectly, so I decided to take the plunge and I am so glad I did. Compared to the A7RIV or the more closely comparable A7C, the GR does not have the same dynamic range or noise-floor, but it is one or more orders of magnitude better than similar-sized point-and-shoots. The lens is super sharp. The raw files handle wide adjustment in LR. The menu system is simple and great. The range of features is ideal for the photographer. Auto focus is very good for a contrast system. Manual focus is too clunky to use. Forget about movie mode. A photographer?s camera.

Fantastic camera, with a few quirks!

After seeing many reviews on YouTube, I was compelled to give this camera a shot. Often, I?m lugging around a Sony a7rIV with multiple lenses which felt overkill for many occasions. While wanting to trim some weight from my bag, I find the Ricoh griiix a perfect compromise between picture quality and portability. The color profiles are amazing and this camera truly is fun to shoot with and the 40mm brings me back to my early days of photography! Like any piece of tech, there are a few drawbacks such as the mediocre video quality and I find some of the controls/ customization will take time to master. Overall, I would give this camera a solid 7.5/10

Ricoh GR IIIx.

Ricoh Imaging is pleased to announce the Ricoh GR IIIx. The newly designed 26.1mm GR lens provides a 40mm standard angle of view in the 35mm format, close to the photographer's own effective field of view, delivering images with a more truthful sense of depth for a completely different type of street photography. Depending on the way the lens is used, this versatile angle of view can create different image renditions: capture an image similar to those taken at a 30mm semi-wide angle or create a completely different visual expression as if taken at a 50mm standard angle.

The large 24.24 effective megapixel APS-C-size CMOS image sensor and latest GR ENGINE 6 imaging engine optimize its image resolving power. It's equipped with a high-speed hybrid autofocus system, built-in shake reduction, and provides a range of new and upgraded post-shooting functions to edit captured images in-body to the photographer's preference. Its short start-up time of approximately 0.8 seconds allows for quick, responsive shooting, while the high-definition LCD monitor features touchscreen operation and intuitive control of camera functions right on the screen. The RICOH GR IIIx is designed to further enhance the essential values of the GR-series: optimizing image quality, snapshot capabilities and portability.

High-refractive index low-dispersion glass lenses and aspherical high-precision molded glass lenses are optimally placed in the lens construction to suppress optical distortion and chromatic aberration to the absolute limit, delivering a high level of sharpness.

It also comes equipped with an ND (Neutral Density) filter, which closes the aperture down by two stops to capture high contrast high-resolution images with a variety of scenes and subjects and under varying shooting conditions. Its nine-blade diaphragm mechanism creates a natural bokeh (defocus) effect and a truthful sense of depth at open and larger apertures, while capturing beautiful light beams at closed-down apertures.

Ricoh GR IIIx

High Quality, High Resolution Images.

The approximately 24.24 effective megapixel APS-C size image sensor delivers high image quality, and an antialiasing filter less construction delivers high-definition rendering even in the finest details. The latest GR ENGINE 6 elevates the essential high image quality performance of the GR IIIx for a greater level of detail. Faster processing makes the combination of high-resolution sensor and multi-tone 14- bit RAW possible. It contributes to improved responsiveness and functionality.

Hybrid AF system for high-speed, high-precision autofocus operation
The hybrid AF system combines a contrast-type AF mechanism superior in focusing precision with a phase-detection-type AF mechanism, assuring high-speed focusing operation. During autofocus shooting, this AF system detects the subject's face or eye with precision, focuses on it, and indicates the in-focus position on the LCD display using the AF frame. When the camera detects multiple faces, it automatically distinguishes the main subject from secondary ones and indicates this on the focus frame.

RICOH-original SR mechanism
Shake Reduction (SR) minimizes camera shake on three axes, including yaw, pitch and roll and provides up to a 4 shutter steps of compensation to produce crisp sharp images even when taking split-second snapshots or capturing images with challenging low-light conditions.

Compact lightweight design
The GR IIIx is designed to be extremely compact, functional, and portable. The exterior frame is made of highly rigid magnesium alloy to improve dependability and durability while being carried or stored. It provides a host of user-friendly features - including a short start-up time of approximately 0.8 seconds, control dials conveniently positioned next to the four-way controller, and effortless touch-screen operation - to enhance operability and allow the user to swiftly react to once-in-a lifetime shutter opportunities.

High Definition LCD Monitor With Intuitive Touch Screen Control.

The 3.0-inch high-definition LCD monitor with touch-screen operation provides swift, intuitive control of various camera functions, such as AF frame shift, menu selection, and image advance/magnification during playback. Its air gapless construction effectively reduces the reflection and dispersion of light for improved visibility. The Outdoor View Setting allows the user to instantly adjust the monitor's brightness to the desired level for greater visibility in difficult lighting conditions.

Image Control function to produce desired visual effects
The GR IIIx features a creative Image Control function, which integrates effect modes into conventional image setting operations. Using 11 basic Image Control modes, the user can easily adjust various parameters, such as saturation, hue, key, contrast, and graininess, to the desired level and create their preferred finishing touch. A set of adjusted parameters can be added as a custom setting to the Image Control function menu.

Advanced Image Editing.

The GR IIIx provides in-body RAW-data development, allowing the user to edit a captured image as desired by adjusting such parameters as recoding size, aspect ratio, white balance, Image Control setting, and exposure compensation factor, all without the need of a PC. The camera also lets the user retain the adjusted parameters after the initial RAW-data development is completed, making it possible to make minute re-adjustment of the already developed image with greater efficiency.

The image quality adjustment function for JPEG images is also upgraded: a newly added monochrome mode allows more minute adjustment of parameters in full-color images, such as filter effect, toning, contrast, and sharpness, to create monochrome images with the desired finishing touches. The camera also provides such creative tools as a choice of aspect ratio (16:9 or 4:3) and image rotation in 0.1-degree steps to facilitate the image editing process.

Bluetooth and wireless LAN dual communication
The GR IIIx provides wireless LAN functions for easy pairing with mobile devices such as smartphones and tablet computers. By installing the dedicated Image Sync application, the user can transfer captured images to a mobile device, display a Live-View image on the device's monitor, change various settings remotely, release the shutter from a distance, and upload captured images to various social media with ease.

Even when the camera's power is turned off, the user can browse and download the images stored on the camera to a mobile device. The user can also send a mobile device's location data to the camera and record the data on captured images. The Auto Resize function, which automatically reduces the image size before transmitting an image to a mobile device, helps improve the camera's operability.
