Shopper : Hen the viewfinder is used, is the camera viewfinder dark or lit?GARY G : The camera viewfinder is lit, this gives you fast access to it if you choose to shift views, My preference is the GV_2, view the camera is steadier and the composing is much better, Simply it is more like a true camera, Regards, GGCOREY C : It works great nice and bright, has etched lines inside so it's easy to frame. Couple of downsides though, first is the price it doesn't confirm focus or any exsposure data kinda high price jus for an OVF. I still found myself having to take second to ensure focus. The other thing is it changes the physical size of the camera, if your wanting to keep GR in your pocket it's a little tough unless you have a coat pocket but jeans pockets it won't fit. If you have a purse it won't matter. I liked it but felt for price and it seemed like I had to work more using it, taking it off putting it on, I wasn't happy with that aspect. It's build is nice I think 100-125 would be a better price but it might work for you?
STEVEN F : Hi, I have the Ricoh GR, and am trying to decide between the Ricoh and the Voightlander finder. I am sure both are good, as the answers below attest, but is there anyone out there who has actually looked through both and can articulate any differences? I would really appreciate this advice. I like the cool retro look of the Voightlander better, but trust Ricoh to make a product well for their own camera.harvey k : I use the Voightlander on my Canon G10 and find it very useful. You have to adjust for paralax (?) but that is not a problem once you get used to doing so.

Which would you choose for the Ricoh GR?Dmitry K : Never saw the Voightlander finder, but the ricoh scratched the black paint off the hot shoe on the camera.RONALD N : I have a Richo VF-2 and I like it very well.KEVIN M : I haven't used the voigtlander, but this one is nice and is very solidly build with a heavy plastic housing. The voigtlander is metal. I am using this finder on the new GR. It's very ergonomic and has a nice look for the boxy camera.

Battery saver

Not very necessary, It's kinda costly but the overall quality is good. It's not digital, you won't get any info showing on the viewfinder, just a glass with 28mm frame lines. I use this viewfinder with the display off, it somehow saves the battery we know GR III has a battery issue. Not a recommendation, but if you want to shoot photo by using the viewfinder, there is an option.
